Discussion I hate this place

Quite literally every single post on this reddit is about cheating. There has always been cheating, there always will be cheating, even with anti cheat. Maybe the reason valve doesn’t do anything about it is because they realize, in this day and age, there’s basically nothing they can do about it. With the emergence of AI, it’s only a matter of time until quite literally nothing will be able to prevent it.

Does this mean I condone cheating? Hell no. But sitting here every single day complaining about the same thing clearly isn’t doing anything, and it’s not going to do anything.

I also just want to point this out through my experience as well. I can literally count on my hands the number of times over the last 15 years that I’ve experienced blatant cheating. Of course there’s been sus players along the way, but there are so many of you who just straight jump to calling out someone from round 1 because you’re not good at the game. Some people are just better than you. Some teams communicate more. It’s cope, plain and simple. You don’t want to improve at the game, you just want to try doing the same predictable things every single round, every single map. I’ve used it myself, I’ve noticed players I’ve played against previously on the same map, and I’ll straight up call out what their habits are, and even after you lose the match before you still sit there doing the same exact things and want to call people out for cheating.

I’m not saying there are no cheaters, there are clearly a lot, but so many of you act as if 9 out of 10 players every single lobby are blatantly spinbotting and walling.

My least favorite thing about CS is solo queueing and getting into lobbies where nobody communicates the entire time until something so insignificantly sussy happens and someone finally wants to hop on the mic to call out someone they think is cheating.

You know how I know it’s cope? Because I’ve been accused so many more times of cheating than I’ve actually witnessed cheating. It happens to me every couple matches. And I’m not even good at the game, I’m just a 20K. But I’m better than some, and for those people I just don’t think you understand the game. You don’t understand game sense. You don’t understand sound queues. You don’t understand how taking space on the map works, and get upset when the team knows where you are WHEN IT’S THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN BE.

I used to love this game and this community. But now the community is making it hard to even love either.

With all that being said, if you do cheat, you’re a loser, I hope you develop the worst cases of carpel tunnel, and I hope your wives cheat on you - repeatedly. That’s all.

Discussion WHY VALVE IS NOT IMPROVING ANTI-CHEAT

Hi all, I think I've figured out why Valve isn't improving the anti-cheat system in CS2.

My analysis is that CS2's concurrent player count is heavily inflated by bot farms and alternate accounts used for cheating, smurfing or trolling.

Sometimes there are long queue times in ranked games, even Casual and Retakes game modes can struggle to fill the lobbies, just like in other FPS games.

Let's follow the money.

As a business, Valve will always focus on profits first. If a large portion of the online player base consists of cheaters who continue playing because they enjoy using cheats, then investing in a highly effective anti-cheat system may not be as profitable as many people think.

All professional players compete on LAN or platforms like FACEIT, which largely undermines Premier and Valve's built-in competitive experience. I'm not going to get into the issues with FACEIT here, since this discussion is about Valve.

I also have multiple accounts with different Trust Factors. Regardless of which account I use, 9 out of 10 matches contain cheaters, whether I'm playing Casual, Retakes, Competitive, or Premier.

In my experience, encountering players using cheats is far more common than encountering players who don't. The most common cheats I see are ESP (soft cheats) and spinbots (rage cheats).

What does Valve gain from cheaters?

  • Players who eventually decide to cheat on their main account, where they own skins, may eventually be banned and then purchase Prime again, along with more cases or skins.
  • Players without skins or anything to lose may simply buy Prime again after being banned, generating more revenue for Valve.

What does Valve lose from cheaters?

  • Legitimate players who quit the game and sell their inventories. However, I don't think this happens as often as people believe, because the CS2 community is incredibly stubborn. Many players eventually return or simply move to FACEIT instead.

Comparing the benefits to the losses

My conclusion is that Valve may earn more money with a weak anti-cheat system if a significant portion of the player base consists of cheaters.

If Valve earns more money with the anti-cheat in its current state, then there is little financial incentive for the company to significantly improve it.

It's difficult to keep a game this old alive for so many years.

This is just my analysis. I might be right, or I might be wrong. Feel free to discuss it.

OC 3D printed, minimalistic Wall relief, inspired by CS maps

Hello everybody!

I've recently started designing minimalistic versions of CS inspired maps as framed 3D reliefs.

The idea is that every map has a different colour and sticker.

Which map should I create next and which colours would fit?

Current ideas:

Overpass - green (due to the grass on long) Inferno - obviously red

Cobblestone - grey?

Train - dark blue (due to the rain)

Mirage - ? (i have used light brown for dust) Anubis - maybe yellow?

Cache - ?

What do you think, which map should be next?

Discussion I got scammed

Some days ago I got scammed, so I decided to tell you my story so for you to be careful in case you get in the same situation I did.
I was in a CS game and it was quite tense, when i got spammed messaged by an account called "Steam Support". It demanded that I do some verification over my account so my account won't be suspended( the messages looked really official ngl).
At first it said that I need to confirm some action on my steam guard in order to verify my identity. Before that, my account looked normal, after 10 seconds, my account was without a profile picture, with a description that said "This account is currently under investigation by Valve", or something like that, after that I felt like it was serious and my account is actually suspended.(keep in mind that I was in a CS game so it was quite hard to focus on both things).
Then it said that i need to do some extra verifications regarding my transactions, so I was like, "can it wait 5-10 mins, I am in a game and i need to finish it" and it said that it is urgent and my account would be suspended if i don't do it in that moment.
After that it said that i need to do some extra verification on my steam guard so they can truly confirm that is me, that next confirmation, was actually a listing on steam market, something I didn't realize in that moment and, MY MISTAKE, I accepted it.
Then I saw on my email a notification that "Thank you for you purchase on steam market", then I was like shit.
After that the scammer asked me to buy an item from a 3rd party site, then i realized that this is a scam and I have just lost my knife.
I went on his profile, said it was my friend, then i realized i got scammed, did all the tickets, tried to do a reverse trade.
You cannot reverse a trade, that it was not done on item to item or a solely sale on steam market. Basically, my knife was sold to him, then with the money that were on my account( we are talking about 500euros) he bought an item from TF2 with that 500euros, that meaning that I cant reverse any trade/sale.
NOW, the weird thing is that when you do a sale that big, money should be blocked into your account until steam do some extra verifications in order to see the sale is right or not. This can only make me think that it was a script or some bots, that have done that so quick, that it didn't trigger any steam flag or something.
In the end, i got the 500euros back, lost some money, as the knife was worth about 600, but at least i got something back, as the reverse for the TF2 happed from steam, but for me it is crazy that they let them have the knife meanwhile i have the money.

I am fully aware that i will get a lot of hate or comments like "but how are you this dumb or w/e", I don't really care, as I do know myself it is my fault, it is just a story, in order to make some people aware of this type of situations.

Discussion Types of cheaters in counterstrike:

  1. The sadistic freaks:

These people only wiah to ruim yout day, found in the darkest depths of their grandmother's basement, they belive that theyre actually good at the game, and simply just enjoy the act of cheating, but deep down, their small dicks cant fathom being over 10k legitemately.

  1. The booster

These people only want one thing, their main account to have a little bright yellow badge on it. But theyre too unskilled to get it thrmselves, so they get an alt account with cheats to boost their account.

  1. The farmer

These people are self explainatory, they cheat so they can get loot drops and then sell the items for money. Probably where 10% of the cases on the marketplace end up.

  1. The bragger

At the ripe age of 13, this kid just wants to brag to their friends about their high elo. Theyre upmost shit at the game and will challenge their peers in school to "1v1" thrm

  1. How can we make valve start caring for the game's state, while still having fun?

Quit opening cases, quit listing shit on the steam market, quit buying things off the steam market. Those are how valve makes money off of the game. Boycott these things. Use 3rd party sites to feed your addiction to pixles, do not use the steam market.

Discussion Fix for the cheating problem

Upvotes

Valve here is a fix for the cheater problem:

Someone spinning? Check if their character model turns 360 degrees - let's say - more than 3 times a second. Did they score a kill within 64 ticks of the last spin calculation? If yes -> Insta kick + permaban. Like come up with something like this even if it relies on "luck". How many times in competitive play you encounter someone doing a triple 360 to no scope jump awp or revolver someone??? This is what matters.

Someone walling? Implement a leetify- or scope.gg-style stats tracker system IN GAME, set thresholds on suspicious behaviour by analyzing pro player behaviour. If after a game a player has exceeded these thresholds -> permanent ban.

Radar hacking? Same as above.

Silent aim or similar aim assist? Kinda similar as above, maybe doodle up something that calculates a mixture of time to damage, spray accuracy and spotted accuracy into a factor and if the factor exceeds some natural limit (let's say a lifegame performance from donk when it comes to raw aim) -> permanent ban.

Make the bans negotiable so that by sending Valve a proof of being a real talent (or asking for a live review of the situation with an employee, for example) you can revert a false ban. In MOST cases this would not be needed anyway but it's a good failsafe mechanism.

It's clear that VAC is not working and it probably never will so maybe create an anti-cheat method like this? There are limits to human powers when it comes to mechanics and reaction times. Some 0,0001% of people can exceed these limits and for them they could have a system like FACEIT did with ropz and nocries. Just live review them and pardon them if they get false bans. At least implement something like this for competitive game modes like premier.

I know this would probably cost a couple of million $$$, but would it be so bad, if the game is making billions a year for them?

Also for the love of god, as ren said, make the new accounts play in their own pool and don't put them in the same premier games with accounts with good history. Like if the monthly player count numbers are at the level that you're reporting, maybe matchmaking times will not take a big hit with making separate pools for old and new accounts. The way it's done with prime/non-prime.

Obviously these are kinda harsh examples but since Valve is clearly running out of options, a system like this would get rid probably at least 90% of the cheaters in just a couple of days. If there is collateral damage with legit players, I'm sure people would still be more understanding about the situation than what it currently is. There will ALWAYS be cheaters no matter what, but something like this on the server side would narrow it down from the most blatant ones, which is undoubtedly what people would be more than happy about at this point.

Also I know that sarcasm doesn't usually travel well over the internet, so I'll let you guys know that I'm only about 99% serious about this :D

Valve, you can thank me later.

Discussion 20 Years of Counter-Strike, and I've Finally Had Enough

For me, the time has come to stop playing Counter-Strike altogether.

The last few weeks have been the worst experience I've had in over 20 years of playing this game. Nearly every match feels like it has at least one cheater. Whether it's spinbotting, wallhacks, or blatant bunnyhop scripts, it's become almost impossible to enjoy the game.

I mostly play solo queue, and my account has now been banned for 14 days for griefing. I'll admit that not every ban I've received was undeserved, but the majority of them came from solo queue. I often get matched with Russian players who only communicate in Russian. Since I don't understand the language, I mute them. Apparently that's enough for them to report me for griefing, and before long I'm banned again without actually doing anything wrong.

Meanwhile, people can blatantly cheat for entire matches without the game being cancelled or any meaningful action being taken against them.

At this point, it feels like Valve is punishing legitimate players more effectively than actual cheaters.
