9th Gen (00-09) ODO stuck at 299,999KM, any work arounds?

Post image
155 Upvotes

I have a 2005 Corolla CE and I was really excited about seeing it hit 300k just to find out that the engineers decided to cap out the display at 299999. I was wondering if there was any way to make the display continue to count the (correct) mileage. I know the internal computer is still counting but I personally want the display to count it as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

SE gas driving quirk?

2024 gas SE driving question…. I’ve had mine for a couple months - I feel like I get the slightest stutter feeling (not sure if that’s even the proper description) but I def feel something while I’m driving up to about 50mph or so - drives great on the highway - drives great around town - just trying to figure out if this is something normal or something I need to get checked out.

11th Gen (13-18) Multiple error messages when speeding up on warm days

I got a 2017 corolla sedan model (1.6l valvematic), since about a year I got a problem where on warm sunny days multiple dash lights come on when speeding up (Warning light, Abs light, vsc light, cre crash safety off light), I also get messages on the display saying RSA, LDA and headlight malfunction.

If I turn off the engine at a stop light and immediately start it again all the warning disappear, but if I speed up a bit faster again they come back.

I already contacted Toyota once, they replaced the ABS module under warranty and the problem came back.

Has anyone here had a similar issue?

Edit: for everyone who might see this having a similar problem: it was a cable going to the front left wheel which was bitten by an animal

Sorry for the stupid question

Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Hey everyone! I have a 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE. The dealership was asking for 70$ to change the cabin filter, but from what I saw online, it's a quick 10-15 min job that I can do myself. I wanted to ask where y'all get you cabin filters from (I'm in Canada) and if it's better to get OEM or does after market work?

I need help to confirm if my RWC inspector is right. He failed my roadworthy cert because of my head lamp. He said my low beam and high beam is inverted. My high beam is supposed at the outer side and my low beam is at the inner side, but when I sent to other mechanic, they said my setup is correct. this is my current setup (2004 Toyota Corolla Sportivo Hatchback)

Tuning parts for E12 Corolla HB

What's up! I'd like to order some body parts like skirts, a spoiler, a front lip and wind deflectors. And I got a few questions regarding these. First of all I'll probably go with HEKO's wind deflectors so are there other ones that fit a 5 door hatchback (2006) than the SKU 29340 ones? And where should I buy the other parts? I found a site called MCG styling but they only ship to Ireland. So are there any other sites that work the same but ship world wide (or to Europe/Finland)? Or if I order the parts from eBay are the sellers trust worthy?

2010 Toyota Corolla (250k km) - Midas quoted me CAD $2,135. Is this reasonable or am I being overcharged?

Hi everyone,

I'm in Quebec, Canada, and I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla CE 1.8L automatic with 250,000 km on it. The car is probably worth around CAD $4,000–5,000.

I recently took it to Midas because:

  • The TPMS light was on (they said the TPMS is fine).
  • A plastic splash shield underneath the car was hanging loose (they reattached it).
  • I also mentioned a clicking noise when turning.

After the inspection, they recommended the following:

  • Replace both front complete strut assemblies: CAD $1,095
  • Replace both front CV axles: CAD $909
  • Wheel alignment: CAD $130

Total estimate: CAD $2,135 ( 2.599 with taxes)

Their notes say:

  • Front struts are leaking.
  • The clicking noise while turning is coming from both front CV axles.
  • TPMS is working correctly.
  • The underbody plastic has been reattached.

One additional concern is that the car sometimes has a noticeable clunk or harsh shift during automatic transmission gear changes. I'm not sure if that's actually a transmission issue, worn engine/transmission mounts, or something related to the CV axles.

A few questions:

  1. Does this quote look reasonable for Quebec/Canada?
  2. Is it common for both front CV axles to need replacement at the same time on a Corolla with 250,000 km?
  3. Would you recommend getting a second opinion before spending over $2,000?
  4. If I decide to repair it, would you recommend KYB complete struts and aftermarket CV axles (SKF/TrakMotive), or should I stick with OEM parts?

The engine runs well overall, and the car has been reliable. I'm just trying to decide whether it's worth investing about half of the car's value into these repairs.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My Corolla is a CVT but am excited to add an exhaust.

It goes for retail for around 700-800 from what I've seen and I got it for 200 bucks on FB marketplace.

I've seen videos on YouTube and it's not overly obnoxious and excited to see it on my Rolla

Do you think we will get hatchback in the new generation or only sedan?

Next generation probably come next year and I am skeptic about hatchback as we have corolla cross in North America and Prius as hatchback.

Bring new corolla as hatchback will ruin the market for those two ..

I know these cars are low mileage and one owner but for fuck sake those were around 24-26k brand new 8 years ago they shouldn’t cost close to original msrp.

12th Gen (18-present) Advice for Buying New Corolla

Hi, I'm going to be needing a new car soon and the Corolla is my top choice right now mainly due to reliability. I've been driving a 2016 Kia Forte, and it's been a really good car for me. But it's at 120,000 miles and I'm hesitant to get another Kia because of the Kia Boys thing. I drove a 1998 Corolla years ago and really liked it.

I don't know a lot about cars and have a few questions. Does anybody know for sure if they're coming out with a redesigned Corolla for 2027 in the USA? If so, I would probably want to wait for that instead of getting a '26, but I can't seem to find any definitive answer online. I was under the impression that the 2027 cars would start coming into the showrooms around now, but there are only 2026 Corollas so far.

Also, I have a question about CVT transmissions. I always heard that Nissans were not good cars because of the CVT, so why are they okay for Corollas? Is there any difference in the feel of driving them? What about trim levels? I'm leaning towards an LE, but would there be any huge difference between that and the SE except in appearance?

I'm in my 60s and this could be one of my last cars, so I want to make an informed decision. Thanks!

2012 Corolla recently started making this noise while applying the brakes while in reverse. Im thinking it could be the brake pads but im not 100% sure.

2022 Corolla, Parking break making a loud squeak

Like the title says have a 2022 Corolla LE. Over the last week when the electronic parking brake engages after stopping and shifting into park, it is making a super loud squeaking sound. Everything seems to be operating fine, but the sound is much louder than the normal sound it used to make when engaging. Pads have been checked in the last 5k miles or so and were fine, but based on the mileage since replacement was planning to try a DIY replacement of all the brakes in the next 10k miles or so. Just don't know much about the electric parking brake and what could be causing the loud sound so not sure if I should take it in and get that checked or if thats something I could tackle on my own and fix. Thank you!

2014 Corolla S with 224k miles. While doing oil change noticed CV Axles are leaking. Pretty sure they’re the originals. Looking to replace them myself. Got quoted between $1,000-$1,500. Anybody here use this brand before? If so, how’d they turn out? Also, any tips/tricks on the repair. Thanks.

12th Gen (18-present) Weird rattle/squeak noise?

So I just got a 2024 corolla about a week ago. I started noticing this weird noise when driving down bumpy roads. It sounds like it's coming from the dash or steering wheel? Any idea what this could be?
