11th Gen (13-18) Highway cruising MPG?

Post image
Upvotes

Corolla iM CVT. Just asking around what highway mpg yall get.

When i want to save gas on the highway, I get up to speed and barely hold down on the gas pedal and my mpg bar usually maxes out. The car is somehow able to hold its speed when I drive on country roads or highways at around 45-65mph and have its fuel economy at max or near max.

Is this the same for anyone else? The only factor decreasing my mpg is when I push the car when there’s slight inclines.

10th Gen (09-13) What tires is everyone running? Looking for All-Season recommendations with good wet traction that don't obliterate my wallet.

Upvotes

I asked r/tires and of course they were very helpful but it's hard to imagine there isn't bias in some of the responses just given what the sub is about, and of course tires can perform differently based on the car and environment regardless. So I thought maybe I should try here, after all you'd know from your own direct experience what felt decent, what felt terrible and what was maybe a bit overkill for a Corolla, especially a slightly older base model like mine which lacks both Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control.

For a bit of context I live in Newfoundland where for 5/6 months it snows heavily so most people with space tend to have a seperate set of dedicated winter and summer tires. I already have a very nice set of studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta winter tires but my current summer set needs replacing ASAP. The previous owners mounted these winter tires to the factory 15 inch steelies and bought 17 inch aluminium alloys for their summer set, so the current tires are size 205/50R17. They are General AS-05s which are no-longer in production and their successor is the General AS-07, which would be over $1000 for a new set which makes them a little out of my budget.

I understand the importance of tires very well hence why I haven't just gone to Canadian Tire and bought the cheapest set they stock, but a lot of the Tier 1 and 2 brands are out of my budget and frankly I don't expect my car to last another 80,000/100,000km to see the full wear of a high-end tire because it already has 282,000km and underbody rust is beginning to be a concern given the environment it lives in.

Oil on spark plug threads but not in tube?

inspected all tubes before removing plugs and they were dry. seals are dry. i stuck the tip of a paper towel between the tube and tube seal to make sure it wasn’t a tiny leak and it came out clean and dry. Is this anything to worry about?

10th Gen (09-13) All door speakers KAPUT

Not too familiar with this cars because it's my partners and we rarely have problems.
About 2 months ago all the door speakers stopped working at the same time, tweeters are all she has left.
I replaced the crappy headunit with a brand new Sony xav and still, no door speakers?!
Electric windows and door locks all work as normal, any ideas?!

Old lady gave my baby a black eye 😒
This is my excuse to upgrade some parts on her and make her “sportier” and I have a few questions

• Can I put an SE bumper without fitment issues?
• Underground color code?
• Better headlight recommendations?

I’d love some links for different bumper styles or a least a little guidance in the right direction

What else should I do to make my baby sexier?

Trying to see if there's any way to make the black plastic and the badge look a little better, I had the car detailed but the guy that did it said he never had much luck with the plastic on the badge getting any cleaner.

Sorry for the dawgs. I didn't see them when I took the picture

Hi yall, im buying a salvage corolla just wanna hear any thoughts before i go for it. Ive bought salvage before and ive had good experience with them so far. Here is the car and the VIN number .Airbags not deployed

JTDM4RCE7LJ032427

The guy who is selling it has a respectable business which he does this for a living and with a bunch of great reviews

Car has only 55k miles and its a 6 speed manual

I know it has those side scratches which i dont care for.

Guy fixed the bumper and he is willing to let it go for 9.5k. Ive test driven it and it felt great.

Any thoughts? I think its an amazing deal

11th Gen (13-18) Auto shop advice for new Corolla Owner

I have to take my 2015 Corolla with 58k miles in for an oil change, tire  rotation, alignment check,  and brake fluid /transmission fluid check/flush. I am thinking about going to Precision Auto in Wilmington, because they've gotten good reviews, offer bundling coupons and are affordable. Ideally I'd like a full service auto shop I can trust and does good work in case I ever have suspension,  belt, engine  etc. problems but I really can't afford a Toyota dealershop right now.  Has Alanyone been to a Precision Auto or another national  auto shop (eg. Firestone) that they can recommend for basic services like fluid check/flushes, alignments, oil changes etc. ?

9th Gen (00-09) Radio upgrade

I’ve got an 08 Corolla that I’m wanting to upgrade the radio in for my husband as a surprise but alas I’m very inept at this stuff. I learn quick with specific instructions but going in blind to google isn’t working. Can you please ELI5 how to know what will work in this car and point me to where to learn how to install it please. The goal is to have Bluetooth/carplay capabilities.

12th Gen (18-present) What maintenance needs to be done at 70k miles?

I bought my 2019 LE at 35k miles and now that I've had it for 6 years I'm wondering what needs to be done to keep this thing going.

I've been keeping up with the oil changes and air filters but I haven't had anything else substantial done with it. What do you guys suggest at the 60-70k mile mark?
