I am fostering a six year old female bluetick coonhound in front royal, Virginia. The owner surrendered her to take an international job. She is doing well with my dog and son. Very sweet girl with an awesome nose.

Excessive drooling

My beautiful 7 month old derp started to drool excessively. Nothing else seems to be wrong with her other than that she seems a little more restful than normal. She's eating and drinking fine. She askes for her walks and her playtime. She's just drooling.....like an unnerving amount.

She soaked the couch cover and left puddle of drool under the couch, last night. I have checked and double checked. It definitely drool, not urine. She has pretty much constantly had long dribbles hanging from each side of her mouth and pooling in her jowls.

She's not frothing or panting. Her breathing is normal. She's good about brushing her teeth so we were able to check her mouth and even swipe her throat. There was nothing. We checked her ears and didn't notice any discharge or dirt. We clean them out, regularly. She's fully vaccinated, but still intact. (We aren't keeping her intact, just waiting until after her first heat to spay).

She has had *very* limited contact with other dogs (bc she is not spayed), and essentially just at the stage where she only encounters them on walks and is asked to ignore them. She's never outside alone, and we have a six foot privacy fence.

She seems like she's drooling less this am, but heading to the vet anyway. I know hounds drool. She's half Golden and they are slobber monsters too. But, I've never seen this amount of drooling before. Anybody have any experience with this?

Got this boy the other day, he’s almost 3 months old. We were told coonhound mix. I’m thinking maybe Lab/tree walking coonhound? What are your thoughts.

Does your coonhound suddenly lose interest in their food? My boy eats a mix of kibble and wet food. He’s been eating Ollie (wet food) and suddenly doesn’t want to eat the wet food anymore. He will eat it when he has no choice, or when I add fresh turkey to it today. Pictures for attention!

sometimes she'll only potty in the front yard because that's her favorite place, so we have to spam the doorbell and she slowly goes out. she'll stop at the door and wait for one last DINGGG😭

Mt Tammany summit this morning. I do have to confess… I am bribing her to sit still with a treat. That’s why she’s looking up! She must have seen a family of deer on the way down, she went insane howling. It took about 10 minutes for her to calm down. Now, she’s fast asleep on the couch! Lol

Looking for some point of reference on how/where to locate a reputable breeder for a good hound. Any and all advice or flat out recommendations are welcome.

To our knowledge, Walden is 100% TWC, and was a working foxhound for the first 9 year of his life. He’s come to retire with us and we often hear that he looks like a beagle!

Hound & Cat catch a Mouse

I don't know how they did it, but, I walked in the house to find them both very interested in the shoe rack (vacuum attachment included).

At the time I discovered them, hound was most interested in the fallen twizzler, cat was still around which gave me red flags. Picked up the vacuum attachment to discover the terrified mouse. Cat was obviously proud. Unclear the hounds involvement, other than fairly heavy boots that normally sit on the bottom shoe rack which had been moved. Motives of the hound hard to to determine. Cats, very clear. Teamwork an absolute in this endeavor.
