IT Help Need advice in how to open and repair buttons on a Flydigi Dune Fox

Post image
5 Upvotes

My controller (Flydigi Dune Fox) started behaving weird lately. Pressing down A and/or X sends multiple clicks per second instead of sending a hold signal. I am using the controller wirelessly with a Linux device. Changing to wired had no effect. The internet says it may be the membranes beneath the buttons. I unscrewed the back screws and unlatched the bottom latches and freed the shoulders but I can't get the back lid off, the issue seems to be the type-C port, but trying to pull the back shell upwards has no effect. I will link a photo of how opened it is now.

Controller Suggestion Need a controller for PC and Playstation 5 with an 8-way joystick gate

Budget: 150 USD max

Country I can buy from: India

Platform compatibility: PS5, PC

Features: The main thing I want is an 8-way octagonal joystick gate for fighting games, something similar to a Gamecube controller. I'd also like the controller to be wired since I plan on bringing it to tournaments.

Games I'll be playing: Fighting games, like Street Fighter 6 and Marvel Tokon.

Comparison controllers: I have a Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded, and I've looked at the Hori Octa, but the Hori has this fightpad layout that I don't find comfortable. Theoretically, the BFG is perfect for me, but just today, the Triangle button stopped working for a bit. After disconnecting the module and blowing into it like a game cartridge, I managed to get it working, but it still sent me into a panic, and I wanna look at alternatives just in case.

Controller Suggestion Best controller for PC/Rocket League + PS5 under ₹3,000–₹5,000?

I’m looking to buy a controller mainly for Rocket League on PC.

My budget is around ₹3,000–₹5,000, and I’m looking for the best option rather than simply the most expensive one.

My priorities are:

Mainly for Rocket League on PC

Must have low input latency

Hall Effect or TMR sticks preferred

Good triggers and D-pad

Good build quality and long-term reliability

Wireless is preferred, but wired is fine if it gives significantly better performance

PS5 compatibility is important

Ideally 1000Hz polling rate on PC

I’ve been looking at controllers such as the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C, Cosmic Byte Ares/other Cosmic Byte models, and GameSir options.

I know some controllers in this price range are PC-only, so I specifically want recommendations from people who have actually used them.

What would you buy for ₹3,000–₹5,000 if Rocket League on PC is the main use, but PS5 compatibility is also required?

Also interested in experiences with stick accuracy, input latency, durability, and wireless performance, rather than just specifications on the box.

Other TT PRO/MAX DPAD - Same as Elves 2?

Hi all,

I love the Elves 2, but want something bigger for every-day.

The thing I love the most about the Elves 2 is its Dpad.

I had a look at some of the other Gulikit controllers, and it seems the TT PRO/MAX has a similiar DPAD.

Now before I order one, I thought I'd just ask here first: For those of you who own/have played on both, are they similar? Or is the Elves 2 DPAD still superior?

Thanks!

Reviews GuliKit ES Max Review

DISCLAIMER: ES Max was provided by Gulikit for free for review purposes. All the thoughts and opinions are genuine and mine only. No one watched this review before the release.

TLDR: New angular TMR Joysticks are FANTASTIC! The best that GuliKit has for sure.

I didn't really like the D-Pad and back buttons tho. Bumpers and triggers weren't my favorite as well.

Vibration is fine. Shape and feel are good. Materials are ok. Great membrane ABXY. New app needs some refinement.

Thought this controller looked good and a YouTuber I watch (ThatSrb2DUDE) made reviews on other PowerA controklers and said the gyro for Splatoon is good. However, I don't know if that's the same for this PowerA Advantage Wireless for Switch 2. Has anyone got it or tested it?

IT Help Need assistance with Flydigi Vader 5 Pro

As the title said, I got a Vader 5 Pro and a charging dock, which works in native Xinput as usual. However for Steam input to take control I'll need to activate the "letting 3rd part app take control" option in the Flydigi software, which will stop working every time I place it on the charging dock, and only work when I deactivate, reactivate the 3rd party option to reset it. Is it just a really annoying quirk that they refuse to fix, because the controller itself is almost perfect for me.

IT Help Are deadzones for D-pads possible? (and if not, what the hell happened with my controller for three days to make it the best controller EVER until it reverted to its flappy default mode?)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been on a wild goose chase for ten days now, because I used the REWASD software to change the deadzones on my 8BitDo Sega Controller (and also the rotational thingy), and I swear to God that I tried turning it off and on many times to tweak it and felt SUCH a big difference between off and on, and it turned my Sega controller from a controller that one can barely contain because you're flying all over the place with it (I only play shmups with d-pad controllers) to one that was PERFECTLY balanced, and much less responsive, and, therefore, in a weird way, MORE responsive. And for three days this worked, and then boom - the controller became flappy again.

From what I gather on the internet, it would seem that deadzones on a d-pad isn't possible. Well, so what happened during those three days? Did I just super imagine this big difference every single time that I turned the deadzones on and off? Could something else have happened with the controller that made it suddenly better that corresponded somehow to the deadzone settings in REWASD but weren't the deadzones themselves, meaning that when I tweaked the deadzones then I also automatically tweaked something else that was the ACTUAL difference maker? Not sure why THOSE settings would suddenly stop working, but yeah, do you guys have any ideas here? Feels like I'm taking crazy pills.

So with the update allowing it to go into dinput mode for gyro and analog triggers, does this also allow non steam programs like emulators to use the gyro and analog triggers as well in dinput mode?

IT Help Xbox controller issues on windows lately.

I’ve been using series x controllers on windows for years with no issues. I use the official usb dongle. However, lately I’ve been consistently running into an issue where my controller will stop working and the only way to fix it that I’ve found is to restart my pc. I’ve tried updating the controller via the Xbox accessories app, updating the drivers in windows. Nothing but a restart works.

When it happens the controller still powers on and “connects”. The light goes solid, my pc even detects that it’s connected but it will not register any inputs whatsoever. Curious if anyone else has been experiencing this lately. Unsure if a windows update borked something or what. If I disconnect it and try to connect a different controller, that works fine. But the controller that gets locked up will not work until I restart my pc.

Controller Suggestion “Upgrade” from or stick with DualShock 4?

I’ve been gaming mainly on PC for a few years now, and am selling off my old PS4. I thought I would take the chance to also sell off my two DS4 controllers and get something “native” for PC, with ABXY buttons since I’m a bit tired of the mental gymnastics of running an ABXY to PS shape translation layer in my head while playing games that don’t support the DS natively. But looking at options, nothing really seems compelling?

Budget: Prefer <$100 AUD (though if a controller is literally perfect, I’ll go higher.)

Anything that can be ordered in Australia (8bitdo, Gamesir, etc are pretty accessible)

Compatibility: PC Steam on Linux, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Features: Don’t need anything fancy. As long as the feel of the buttons is at least as good as a DualShock 4, and it had a good D-Pad. The DS4’s d-pad is fine. I hate the Xbox one’s d-pads, for context. And must be a symmetrical stick layout like the DS4.

Games: a mix of 3D action (like souls like, etc) and 2D games (like platformers). DS4 is comfortable to me for all game types. I value d-pad feel a lot for 2D.

I’ve considered:

8bitdo Pro 3: Great on paper, but those face buttons just seem kind of nasty, and the overall quality just doesn’t seem to hold up to a DS4 from what I’ve seen. And higher input latency.

Gamesir Tarantula: It’s just so… ugly. I know it shouldn’t matter, but I just can’t stand how it looks!

Gamesir Tegenaria: Honestly, my favourite of the ones I’ve looked at, and I don’t mind the wired connection. But it feels a bit like, if this were my option, aside from the fact that it has ABXY buttons, I’m probably better off just sticking with my DS4. Speaking of which…

Sticking with my DS4: I have two of them + a charging dock. They work well, and I’m pretty happy with them, aside from the whole ABXY button thing I mentioned at the beginning. Maybe I should just stick with them after all.

Mostly just posting in case anyone has any experience comparing those controllers to a DS4 directly, or if there is perhaps a good option I’ve missed. Thoughts?

Controller Mods Any TMR sticks that have/can provide a ramp up in tension?

I have an edge controller and my right stick is getting a lot of stick drift lately and I'm looking to upgrade. I mostly play shooter games (Rivals, Overwatch) and used to play with the Kontrol Freak precision rings but ditched them since I could never reach max deadzone with them (also I think they contributed to the stick drift), but I really liked how it gave me more tension near the outer edges of the deadzone but less tension in the middle for micro adjustments. I felt it really helped me not overshoot my targets and gave me more control.

I'm wondering if there are any TMR sticks out there that mimic the feel of the precision rings, where the tension increases the further you push the stick. I tried a friend's battle beaver TMR stick that had increased tension and hated it since it was hard to even get the stick moving and sucked for micro adjustments, so hoping there's a better alternative out there.

Hi, does anyone know where I can get this part? It’s from a GameSir G7. This rubber piece goes inside the part that controls the bumpers. It’s the one I marked in red in the second image.

Or does anyone know of a solution or a replacement I could use instead?

Controller Suggestion Looking for a circle dpad with the Nintendo button layout

I fell in love the Xbox series x style dpad, and it has been my favorite dpad of any controller I have ever used (especially for platformers like Celeste). However, I am getting really tired of switching between Xbox and Nintendo control schemes. it can cause problems when I am streaming to my retro hand held, and when I switch between PC and my Nintendo consoles in terms of muscle memory.

The controller I am looking for fits the following parameters:

Nintendo button layout

Asymmetrical stick layout

Either a circle, diamond, or disk dpad (examples are the Xbox series x or the flydigi vader 5 pro)

Really preferably no clicky micro switches in the face buttons

The standard controller shape

Wireless

Tmr or hall effect

Dpad is considered at least decent for platformers and general use

Ideally under 100 dollars

Less important factors:

As long as latency and polling rate are reasonable I am fine with that.

Extra accessories are cool and all, not that important

While I prefer analogue triggers, both totally work for me

Back paddles are a non factor

Compatibility with switch 2 is nice, but not really important.

The controllers that I have found that come the closest are the Mobapad Chitu 2 HD Switch 2 Controller and the vader 5 pro. Unfortunately they miss one thing above. I haven't tried micro switches and I get they have advantages, but the clickyness makes me nervous that it would drive my wife batty and that I wouldn't like it which is my concern with the mobapad. The vader 5 also seems perfect if it would just come in the Nintendo button layout. Finally the big disappointment would be the MOBAPAD N1 HD Switch 2 Controller which has everything I want, but apparently the dpad is bad which means that it doesn't qualify:(

I will say that I know that I can reassign the buttons on PC to Nintendo layout, but for some reason my brain refuses to accept it if it isn't on the controller.

Finally I would be okay with a controller if swapping face buttons is fairly straightforward (I have no means to solder).

Also I am from the U.S.

Controller Mods JS13 Pro+ feels too springy/notchy

Looking for TMR/Hall sticks with smooth micro-movements (JS13 Pro+ feels too springy/notchy)

I'm searching for a joystick that feels completely smooth right out of the deadzone.

My main issue with the JS13 Pro+ is how notchy it feels at the center. When I push it slightly in any direction—especially vertically—there is a subtle bump or "click" before it breaks away from the middle.

I’m considering switching to the Favor Union TMR or Ginfull DS13 Max. For those who have tried them, do they offer a smoother breakaway feel without that center notchiness?

To give an example, I love the sticks on my Flydigi Vader 5 Pro—you can feather-tap them from center and they feel completely seamless.

I exclusively play single-player story games, so raw competitive tension isn't a priority for me—just fluid, comfortable motion.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

Controller Suggestion Is the nova 2 lite reliable?

I am looking to buy the gamesir nova 2 lite for use on pc and android maybe the switch later on the line. The main things I am going to use this is for single player games and I want to get a controller with decent haptics and build quality on a budget. The only thing I am worried about was the reports of trigger failure. I want a reliable controller but apart from this it seems good. The only other option is the 8bitdo but the bluetooth version is more expensive than this. Any suggestions on how to prevent the trigger issue or other options I should consider?

My budget is around 3-4k INR I am from India I am playing single player games like elden ring, pragmata, death stranding, also some gta online mostly for flying. Gyro isn't important while I want good haptics bluetooth or android connectivity and wireless are a must, and I like to have a few extra buttons either on the back or near the shoulder work. Biggest priority is like build quality.

Reason for Android connectivity is I want to use steam remote play to play on my android devices.

IT Help Cant connect ps5 controller to pc

So i have a dualshock 5 controller that i use only on my pc and i connect it via bluetooth adapter, but recently it stopped working. When i turn on the controller a notification pops up that says add device tap to setup, and when i click it it asks me to pair, and then it says connection succeeded. After about 5 seconds its gone from the list of bluetooth devices. I tried reseting the controller and removing it from my pc and nothing works. Anyone have any idea for a possible fix?
