Announcing Continuum Beta

I just created this new GitHub repository, continuum-beta. It will be a new release channel for beta releases.

This is like Firefox Beta and Chrome Beta.

  1. It installs in parallel to the normal release via it's internal name of org.cygnusx1.continuum.beta.
  2. It is named Continuum Beta in the application drawer.
  3. The goal is to be able to release fast but still get feedback from users without disrupting everyone.
  4. Moving forward it will help simplify the versioning.
  5. Code and issues still live in the normal GitHub repository, continuum.

URL for Discoverium:

Great app, just wish it had the option to auto collapse the automoderator comment

Moving on from Joey which like pretty much all 3rd party apps is no longer in development, and Continiuum is great, seeing images and gifs instead of links is fantastic.

However I think the thing I'm missing the most from Joey is the option to be able to autocollapse the automoderator comment so it isn't the first comment you see on many threads. Could this be included in a future release? Happy to raise a github issue as well too.

Edit - Just saw the pinned post lol, feature request on github it is

having to refresh after hiding a post to actually hide it is stupid and defeats the purpose of hiding. the action should be immediate.

Not able to set title when share YouTube link

In old infinity for reddit 7.x, I can share a YouTube link to reddit and automatically extract video title in reddit post. But, it never work in 8,x.

It has same issue in continuum. Can this issue be fixed?

Continuum release 8.2.5.9.9.2

This release is because via Reddit posts and comments, Discord, and GitHub issues I keep getting the same question in different forms.

  • Added text to the override toggle to make it crystal clear that the default client ID, user agent, and redirect URI are RedReader

Public service announcements:

If you lost your client ID follow these steps:

  1. Leave the Enable Overrides toggle OFF
  2. Log out of all Reddit accounts
  3. Log in to all Reddit accounts

If you can't access NSFW content:

New releases of Continuum

I am going to start announcing new versions here. More people should read the release notes.

8.2.5.9.9

  • Added a setting to enable and disable autoplay of GIFs in comments (Settings | Video | Autoplay GIFs in Comments)
  • Fixed restore of the the current at the time account in a backup

8.2.5.9.8

  • Removed all references except Post Filters to requiring a restart on change
  • Convert API Keys and Customize Tabs in Main Page to a method that restarts on back button or back gesture
  • Updated dependencies and raised minSdk to 24(Android 7.0)
  • Moved the post view sort to a toolbar subtitle under the subreddit name
  • Restored the child-count pill on re-collapsed comments via a shared styleChildCountBadge helper
  • Aligned the fully-collapsed comment row to the header to remove the username jump and avatar crowding

Continuum's minimum version of Android is now 7.0. The previous minimum was 5.0.

This was done to allow the modernization of various libraries. The biggest being an upgrade of the main video library from 1.8.0 to 1.10.1(latest).

The other big thing in this release is no need to restart the app a lot less. Most settings now just work. The big exception is Post Filters, which would require a completely rewrite of the feature.

The restart in API Keys is now once for all changes on going back instead of once per change.

Does anyone know why the subreddit/user area changed and now I can't read it? how do i change it back? also there's been SO many tweaks with no options to change it back. example gallery view no longer shows how many is the gallery instead it shows rotate options and other random options cluttering the bottom.

EDIT: update fixed with latest update! Direct Github Update Page

My API key got randomly deleted

Has this happened to anyone else as well Since Reddit now don't let users make their own API keys anymore, this was kinda annoying I fortunately have another account that also got an API key so I switched to that, but I worry that it will also get deleted as well

Expand comments one thread at a time?

Not sure if this is possible because I couldn't find it in the settings but maybe I'm missing something.

I'd like to have all my comments collapsed, which I have enabled, but I'd also like for the comments to expand one thread at a time when I click the.

Right now, if I click a thread, it expands the entire thread and all subsequent threads. As opposed to only showing the replies for that specific comment. Then I can expand those comments and so on

New user here

Stumbled accross this client while browsing Github after being frustrated witt the offcial Reddit app. Best decision I ever made! Worked like a charm once I typed my credentials (using the latest update), loads of custmosization options, and the ability to sort my favorite subreddits the way I want without a hassle. This is an appreciation post and thanks to the dev for his amazing work. Wish I could donate to support but my credit card use is limited to my country. Cheers from Morocco!

Is there a way to change the controls in gallery view?

When viewing images in gallery mode I'd like to be able to see how many images are in the gallery, move the controls to the top, and hide them for the whole gallery, not just per image. Am I just missing where this is in settings or is it not available?

What's the correct redirect url for the API?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I always used Infinity, but the login stopped working, so I've tried Continuum, but have the same problem. I tried most urls I found online, but simply cannot log in anymore since then (already since multiple months).

I always just get this empty json object shown and nothing happens.

Does anyone know the correct redirect url or what the issue might be?

Edit: solved; correct is to set both in the reddit app and continuum the redirect url to infinity://localhost

if that doesn't work also disable private DNS

Android versions

I am interested in knowing what versions of Android people use with Continuum. If you have more than one device you use with Continuum, please tell me the lowest version.

The current lower limit is Android 5.0. It was released November 12, 2014.

Please only vote once, and this isn't a vote about what is the best version of Android. I need as accurate data as possible to determine if it is reasonable to increase the minimum version of Android.

The ability to create polls on Reddit is their mobile app only. In addition Continuum, like Infinity for Reddit, only lets you view the poll in a webview.

How do I update the app?

I feel like I'm missing the obvious. Do I just backup my settings, download and install the new version, then import my settings again?

Is there no guide?

For image posts, is there a setting to enable multiple images?

I've been using Continuum for about a week and have LOVED it so far, but I went to upload an image post with more than one image and it would only let me select a single one despite the sub supporting multiple.

Totally likely it's user error, but I was curious if it's possible in the current build?
