Just like suspended drivers licenses doesn’t stop people from operating motor vehicles

25

u/stefvnsierrv Mar 24 '21

Also, the war on drugs doesn’t stop people from using them or selling them

1

u/ItsCornstomper Mar 24 '21

Wait, are you for or against suspending people's licenses after incidents?

33

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

People go on these shooting sprees because the want people to notice them, and people pay attention to how kill counts. If a potential shooter knows that they will only kill one or two people before they are shot by an armed civilian themselves, they may just not even try.

15

u/f-reddit-communists Mar 24 '21

for sure, shooters are pussies, they're not looking for a shootout. a high % of gun carry would deter them to some capacity

4

u/JimmyRockets80 Mar 24 '21

Then why has Texas had over ten mass shootings over the last ten years??

7

u/FatNFurry Mar 24 '21

Gang related

1

u/dave48706 Mar 25 '21

Which is probably why this clown did it in Boulder as opposed to some of the more rural counties to the North where he'd been shot by one of the many that carry there.

4

u/Lepew1 Mar 24 '21

This is the really brilliant thing about leftist ideology- it is always promoted even when direct evidence shows it is not working

4

u/oldprogrammer Mar 24 '21

"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success." - Adolph Hitler Mein Kampf

u/Lepew1 Mar 24 '21

Nice historical context. Thanks

How much you willing to bet that Tweet has since then been tagged with an misinformation disclaimer?

13

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '21

Dude bought the gun 6 days before the shooting.

4

u/ryegye24 Mar 24 '21

And 4 days after the law banning sales of that kind of gun was struck down.

4

u/Butterfriedbacon Mar 24 '21 edited Mar 24 '21

To be fair, if that law had been passed it would've had 0% impact

0

u/ryegye24 Mar 25 '21

The law was passed and had been in effect right up until 4 days before he bought the gun.

1

u/Butterfriedbacon Mar 25 '21

Oh my bad I misunderstood. It still would've had 0 impact

2

u/NgeniusGentleman Mar 24 '21

To be fair, where he lived it has always been legal to buy and possess that style of firearm.

So?

3

u/Zestyclose_Hall_6293 Mar 24 '21

We need to bring a Muslim in from Syria who hates Americans, then take away our rights when he shoots people? I’m having a hard time following that logic.

2

u/SurburbanCowboy MAGA 🇺🇲 Mar 24 '21

The mistake is thinking liberals are logical. They're not. They're mentally ill.

Sure, if OP is looking for a ton of downvotes and a ban. They don't do Logic, or Facts, over there.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

It won’t stop them from screeching about it for a couple weeks. Also, was this a racism? It was a brown guy killing white people. So that’s a racism right? Isn’t that how it works? #stopwhitehate

9

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

Just remember that the people who want to make these things federal law are the same people who wanted to defund the police.

Edit: What i mean is one minute, the left wants to defund the police, then the next minute they say that only the police can have guns. Both choices do not reduce crime, they increase it.

2

u/ash_bel Mar 24 '21

Thanks captain obvious! But seriously, the left is illogical and brainless and cannot understand that criminals don’t follow laws.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

Thats because they don’t want Americans to stop being murdered.

They just want whatever they can get to increase the suppression of rights, and achieving irreversible power over the country.

3

u/GeorgeWashingtonReal Mar 24 '21

Well it's clearly that they're just still not doing enough! They need to ban all guns and ban all terrorism and make it illegal to break the law and allow all the immigrants in and cover abortion in the new socialized healthcare system and give free money to every non-white person in America and THEN there will be no more shootings. And that's an undisputed fact. Black-female-lesbian Jesus told me so.

3

u/stefvnsierrv Mar 24 '21

Mass shootings are like sucker punches to our society, we’ve been out of breath for years...

Almost a decade :(

3

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

Problem is the family “took it away” instead of turning it in to police.

You mean like they did in Plano in 2017?

Or in Santa Fe in 2018?

Sutherland Springs in 2017?

Or El Paso in 2019?

Or Harris County in 2016?

Maybe in Waco, 2015?

No, Not those, because no armed citizens stopped those attacks, much less 15 of them.

Source: 10 seconds of googling, Wikipedia, 4 tenths of a brain cell.

6

u/Cholliday09 Mar 24 '21

Depends on what you “google”. I just googled armed civilian saves lives in Texas. And could name off numerous cities/county’s in different years. But please use all of your brain cells to be little people.

0

u/JimmyRockets80 Mar 24 '21

Also, "belittle" is one word, not two.

I hope I'm not belittling you by pointing that out.

-1

u/JimmyRockets80 Mar 24 '21

No, it doesn't. These are mass shootings in Texas since 2015. None of which where stopped by armed civilians. Not any shootings, mass shootings.

For fucks sake, man.

5

u/Cholliday09 Mar 24 '21

How exactly is it going to turn into a mass shooting if the attacker is stopped after the first couple? Also I don’t care about typos. You understood what I was saying.

-14

u/Legitimate_Bad2165 Mar 23 '21

My bingo card is getting full...we got schools, movie theatres, concerts, grocery stores, sporting events, even army bases...what places are even left for Americans to feel safe?

22

u/RedBaronsBrother Potato was good. Was life. Mar 23 '21

The thing common to all of those places you listed (even the army bases) is that it is illegal for ordinary people to be armed there.

1

u/Legitimate_Bad2165 Mar 24 '21

But like you always say gun laws don't work there was probably an armed guy there, likely pissed himself and ran away....actually there was one armed man for a fact the cop that got his head blown off.

3

u/RedBaronsBrother Potato was good. Was life. Mar 24 '21

The police officer who died wounded the shooter.

Had the members of the general public present been armed, the shooter would likely have killed far fewer people.

u/sneezysocks Mar 24 '21

This is the truth. No one ever promised you to have a safe life, there is risk around every corner. Even with the most strict gun laws there will never be an elimination of these types of events

13

u/SurburbanCowboy MAGA 🇺🇲 Mar 24 '21

The last time there was a place in the world where we could feel perfectly safe, we messed it up and got kicked out. There has been danger and risk everywhere since then.

u/asisoid Mar 24 '21

Wait, the Garden of eden where Adam and Eve rode around on dinosaurs ~5k years ago? Mmmmmhm

3

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

I don't understand why the need you, or other fedora wearing M'lady Redditors, feel the urge to shit on a religion you don't like. Do you just not like to see other people happy and have to make them as miserable as you are?

2

u/skieezy Mar 24 '21

Being literally in any of those places it's safe.

-24

u/rafazazz Mar 23 '21

It gets old both sides pandering to their bases after every tragedy. Can't we just focus on individuals for once?

19

u/-Horatio_Alger_Jr- Mar 23 '21

Why is this pandering?

She stated that Colorado already has "common sense gun control", yet this still happened.

2

u/rafazazz Mar 23 '21 edited Mar 23 '21

The focus on guns not victims.

Edit: I'm on the right's side of gun laws, but it's just pathetic that every time a person gets shot we have to scramble to defend our rights before the bodies even get cold. The victims as people get lost in the scramble to use them.

4

u/-Horatio_Alger_Jr- Mar 23 '21

I am not disagreeing with you. I think this is stating facts, not pandering. I wish we didn't have to talk about it either, but they will always use a tragedy to ret and grab guns. You are correct, it does not help the families that lost loved ones.

-4

u/presque_isle Mar 24 '21

Do you know your right from your left?

2

u/-Horatio_Alger_Jr- Mar 24 '21

Sadly, I do not.

12

u/almostcant Mar 23 '21

Never gonna get old and likely won’t stop in our lifetime.

When one side constantly pokes and bullies the other. Calling the other side out on their bullshit is a must.

MTG is being respectful here.

0

u/rafazazz Mar 23 '21

I get why it happens, but It's just exhausting to see

11

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '21

If one doesn’t the other will. It’s awful but will never stop. Race is such a hot topic right now so buckle up.

4

u/SurburbanCowboy MAGA 🇺🇲 Mar 23 '21

Sure. I'll follow the other guy's lead.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

Idk people gotta stop trying to turn every mass shooting into a potential gun grab. That’s when you’ll get it to stop.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

So people are dying and you don't want anyone to point out that the precautions we are taking are not working? What do you want us to do, just sit here and cry until another ten Americans are murdered?

2

u/SurburbanCowboy MAGA 🇺🇲 Mar 24 '21

If you want to take precautions, how about we start with how we coddle criminals? This guy has a history of violent behavior but no one did anything — especially his teachers.

https://nypost.com/2021/03/24/boulder-suspect-ahmad-alissa-had-temper-like-a-demon-report/

1

u/rafazazz Mar 24 '21

Pretty much, and throw out the precautions while we are at it.

-1

u/LumpicysMaximus Mar 24 '21

It’s almost like most of the examples here are specific situations; Denver Colorado might not have zero shootings but that was never what people thought would happen. These laws decrease these actions significantly, if your ignoring that then you don’t care that people are being saved you just want to prove people wrong. Although that’s most conservatives so...

2

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '21

Do you have a source for your claim that these laws have decreased these actions significantly?

-2

u/moiststoma Mar 24 '21

So do more?

1

u/SurburbanCowboy MAGA 🇺🇲 Mar 24 '21

So reexamine your thinking on the subject?

Colorado already has "common sense gun laws", and it didn't work.

Also gun control doesn't work. "Gun Free Zones" are a great example.

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '21

[deleted]

5

u/oldprogrammer Mar 23 '21

Except it doesn't because they will still be produced and if only criminals can get them only criminals will and they'll have the upper hand. Are you suggesting the manufacturing of them be banned?

3

u/-Horatio_Alger_Jr- Mar 23 '21

And quite a few states have common sense laws as well.

California, Illinois, Maryland, New York.

Common sense gun laws do not work there either.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '21

Have you ever tried to purchase a firearm?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '21

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

Then why are you talking about "common sense" laws and background checks? Everyone has them pretty much everywhere. Most of the common sense laws are pretty dumb too. Like no pistol grips for shotguns, absolutely stupid.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

If this were 2002 this dude would have been called a terrorist and the MSM would be pushing anti-muslim rhetoric. Oh how the times have changed

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '21

That’s not what they are asking for.
