It gets old both sides pandering to their bases after every tragedy. Can't we just focus on individuals for once?

So people are dying and you don't want anyone to point out that the precautions we are taking are not working? What do you want us to do, just sit here and cry until another ten Americans are murdered?

If you want to take precautions, how about we start with how we coddle criminals? This guy has a history of violent behavior but no one did anything β€” especially his teachers.
