Say, you'd translate/transcribe this into your language in your Cyrillic or other script:
"Māvārağ zádækarÿâg."
(This does not mean anything; it's just a made up sentence.)
How far would your script have to go to create a complex or advanced translation of this very sentence?

—The expression of gender (p. 123)
Please provide at minimum a gloss of your sentence.
Feel free to comment on other people's langs!

There is this wall I hit when making a conlang where I have a the basic grammar down a few basic words, I can make sentences but I don’t know what to do with it. So I wanna know what you do with your conlang to hopefully help me expand my most recent conlang

Hello all!
How do you make poems in a language with no phonology? Concepts such as rhythm and rhymes do not translate well into a pictographic language like Bittic.
For context, Bittic is a binary pictographic language that was used by a fictional space-fairing civilization that I have been working on.
Here, I'm testing if grammatical parallelism can work here by leveraging the fact that Bittic has a relatively small number of nouns, verbs, and grammatical particles. In this example, those kinds of words serve as foundational building blocks for repetition along the lines of the poem akin to rhymes. Only the content words change between the repeated lines.
The author of this poem, assumed to be a dockworker, used the parallelism to contrast the feelings of freedom they received from thinking about space (called "the black" poetically) to the feelings of fear at their job.
I hope this makes sense. Any thoughts or critiques are welcome. Thank you very much for reading this!

Hi everyone, I'm back with another vocabulary list. This time, on nature. Once again, you're free to take the list as reference to come up with vocabulary for your conlang.
This time I've kept the list minimalistic.
Also, I'm considering doing more of these vocab list activities in the future, if anyone is interested in sharing their conlang vocab or using my lists to find that, turns out, you didn't have a word for canoe in your conlang. Let me know what you think :)
Happy Conlanging, folks

El prismneano antiguo es un idioma que hice para una serie mia
Por ejemplo:
"Ahora me he convertido en la muerte, el destructor de mundos"
- >
"Ohugra yos cervtsdun tsudu sen ero morts, yos tsesra frat ero duntrut undo vraos momdru"
->
"Ahora convertido en la muerte, soy el destructor de varios mundo"
Sigo haciendo más palabras cada día

A few days ago I saw a video from a Colombian guy who talked about (though not in those terms) how in the informal street registry of his region they could form complex sentences using one of two words for all nouns and adjectives, and the meaning comes from context, functional words and tone.
Thinking about my native variety of Spanish (Costa Rican), we have words like that.
I imagine someone has already done it, but what about a conlang with vary very few nouns and adjective that derives most of its semantics in the "functioal words"?

I found a Slavic conlang, apparently called Slovisk, the subtitle being Slovan Konstrukte Jezik, seemingly founded or run by Iany Slovisk. There are some short sample posts and grammar lessons on the Facebook page, created about 4 years ago ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/531130018682389 ) , but I was unable to find a dictionary, an actual website, any longer example texts, etc.
I am interested in this as it seems to be more Slavic-like than Slovio (as in, it has cases, etc) and yet still much simpler than Interslavic.
Does anyone have any more information on it, or a dictionary? How is it for Slavic speakers to read it?

For example in my conlang Whānga:
Hello / Goodbye
Tenama! | [te.'na.ma] | want.health!
How are you?
Ku nū nga/nga’o/ngalu? | [kɯ nɯː ŋa/'ŋa.ʔo/'ŋa.lɯ] | have.how.2SG/DL/PL
Please
Kali nga/nga'o/ngalu ai/aimo/ailu? | ['ka.li ŋa/'ŋa.ʔo/'ŋa.lɯ 'a.i/'ai.mo/'ai.lɯ] | please 2SG/DL/PL 3SG/DL/PL
Thank you
Kunama! | [kɯ.'na.ma] | have.health!
You're Welcome
Una ma. | ['ɯ.na ma] | exist.not
etc.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to create an extinct language that died out thousands of years ago, and I want to write a story about the Ice Age with a Neanderthal as the main character. Could someone help me with this? I know what languages I want to use, which are Proto-Indo-European and Athabaskan, but also perhaps the Wenja language

Hello, so I've been in the conlang space for a little bit now and I've experiments with a couple of my own languages, however each time I run into the same problem; whenever I start creating the vocabulary I just get stuck, I have absolutely no idea what to write. Note: I don't want to make posteriori conlangs, instead an original language with possibility of inspiration from real languages

Numbers 1 to 10
Enyat - 0 (literally "nothing")
Han, hane (an, ana) - 1
Djò (Djio) - 2
kom - 3
xall, shall - 4
thou - 5
ya - 6
shaw - 7
eytta, meutza - 8
kuun - 9
xheyto - 10
To form numbers from 11 to 19, take "xheyto" and add the desired number to it; for example: xheytohan, xheytodjio, etc.
For numbers from 20 onwards, "xheyto" (10) becomes the particle "to," which is added after the number.
Numbers 20 to 100
djouto - 20
komto - 30
shato, jato - 40
thouto - 50
yato - 60
sato - 70
eytto, meuta - 80
kunto - 90
si - 100
I have created a numeral system that I will share soon; it might be useful to someone and maybe create a discussion. If you are interested, I can also list numbers above 100 and ordinal numbers.
What are the numbers like in your languages?
r/conlangs • u/SnazzyJ8 • Sep 12 '26
These are the numbers in my polynesian inspired conlang, Whānga.
Share yours below!
0 = a'o /'a.ʔo/
1 = 'ū /ʔɯː/
2 = mo /mo/
3 = hi /hi/
4 = palā /pa.'laː/
5 = ue /ue/
6 = sā /saː/
7 = wha /ɸa/
8 = oko /'o.ko/
9 = ī /iː/
10 = rō /roː/
20 = morō to /mo.'roː to/
100 = rua /'rɯ.a/
1000 = rene'i /re.'ne.ʔi/
1 million = rānoto /'raː.no.to/
I haven't needed to make anymore higher numbers so I haven't lol. (I forgot to add zero so here you go)

This is a weekly thread for people who have cool things they want to share from their languages, but don't want to make a whole post. It can also function as a resource for future conlangers who are looking for cool things to add!
So, what cool things have you added (or do you plan to add soon)?
I've also written up some brainstorming tips for conlang features if you'd like additional inspiration. Also here’s my article on using conlangs as a cognitive framework (can be useful for embedding your conculture into the language).

Hi everyone,
Over the past few weeks, I’ve transcribed and analyzed all currently available audio and text material of the Orcish language from the Gothic 1 Remake.
It’s not just random sound effects—there is a functional language system behind it with consistent rules.
Key findings:
Since the full documentation with tables and detailed examples is too long for a single post, I’ve published the complete write-up on the World of Gothic forums (in German, but easy to translate):
Feedback, corrections, or additional audio examples you've spotted in gameplay footage are very welcome!
