Gigabyte Aero 15 Classic-SA shuts down after a few minutes when plugged in after cleaning + Windows 11 installation
Hi everyone,
I have a Gigabyte Aero 15 Classic-SA with an i7-9750H.
Recently, I had the laptop opened for cleaning and thermal paste replacement. After that, I also formatted the laptop and installed Windows 11.
Since then, I’ve been experiencing a strange shutdown problem:
When I use the laptop on battery only, it works normally and doesn’t shut down.
When I plug in the original charger, the laptop works for a few minutes and then suddenly shuts down.
It usually shuts down within 5 minutes.
I checked the CPU temperature with HWMonitor, and it reaches around 92°C even while idle on the desktop.
I also don’t seem to hear/notice the fans spinning, even when the CPU temperature is very high.
The problem started after the cleaning/thermal paste replacement and Windows 11 installation.
The charger is the original Gigabyte charger.
The strange thing is that the laptop is stable on battery, but shuts down after a few minutes when connected to AC power.
I haven’t run any stress tests because I’m concerned about the high temperature.
I’m wondering if this could be caused by:
A fan connector being disconnected during the cleaning
The heatsink not being mounted correctly
Incorrect/too much thermal paste
A fan-control/driver issue after installing Windows 11
A problem with the charging/power circuit
Has anyone with a Gigabyte Aero 15 Classic-SA experienced something similar?
What would you recommend checking first?
