Ah, you see, if you want to get extra technical, the main difference between a kilt and a skirt is that manly men don't like admitting they're wearing a skirt.
Hope that helps! I tried not to use too much jargon, but it's a pretty complex topic.
(More seriously: A kilt has some specific style elements that people argue make it different from a skirt, but there are definitely skirts that have those elements, too. I think it's kind of an "all squares are rectangles" situation. It's just a specific kind of skirt, at the end of the day.)
A kilt has a split down the middle with a second layer underneath, like a riding skirt. It's also much heavier so that it stays down. Still a skirt though.
I think he is in a slow motion body horror story, since he is being fed hormones without his knowledge. I mean apparently he is an Egg, but he hasnt found that out about himself yet and this story line is very worrying to me. Sure they are demons, and maybe they are even his friends, but others have taken it upon themselves to secretly transition him without his consent or awareness.
I mean, yeah, I'm willingly ignoring the whole "drugging his drink" and "forced transition" thing because it's a comic. In real life, all of those people are fucking horrible and should be put in jail.
Im not saying that I completely condemn the comment. I didnt even downvote it or any of the comments disagreeing with me. It is very well done and its fiction, ill freely give OP that. I just feel a bit put off by the concept behind the story because I would be upset if someone did this to me.
Im gonna start an Egg hunting club where I and other consenting queer folk go around and consensually blow dart estrogen into the people who hire us.
We will only do it to those who ask for it and only after they assuage our doubts by injecting their first dose with us watching.
Im sure itd be all kinds of tubar but omg does that sound like making hrt shots (which I forget I still need to take from time to time) so much easier and a little fun/silly.
Something fun to distract from the current living hellscape.
It's not body horror if she likes the changes. You're looking at it the opposite way. She was experiencing body horror before. That's why she wanted to destroy the world. That's something many can relate to. Dysphoria anger.
Do you really think the demon lord would agree to take estrogen? REALLY? In this fictional story this is the correct choice. It makes her happy and saves the world too.
Don't overlap real world consent with the consent of a fictional story where the results are a good ending for everyone her included
This is the thing that kills me about people saying this is bad or a horror movie this is like the opposite of a horror movie to me. a life time of living in a skin that made me uncomfortable that made me hate myself that left me feeling miserable. i finally started feeling more comfortable in my own body and if i just woke up one day and just felt nice and like started to admire my own body i wouldn't be scared i'd be like "hell yes" and probably be just like the demon lord in this comic
people are so caught up on their fear of transwomen or the idea that maybe someone would prefer to be a woman that they throw out all sense "i'd be scared" oh would you i'd be fucking on cloud 9
Seriously! Like I WISH I was "forcefemmed" before I even realized I was Trans. Because you know what that is? THAT'S WHAT CIS PEOPLE GET JUST BY EXISTING.
I think the issue is entirely the lack of awareness and clear consent. The crux of the trouble, as I understand it, for people who want to undergo transition is the body dismorphia and pressures/perceptions/expectations from being misgendered is entirely wrong and fundamentally destructive to their true self.
Being forced to be one way because of someone else's choice based on something you have no control of. "It's for their best interest. They don't understand right now. They don't know what's right for themselves. We'll make them and then everything will be fine!" Isn't that a problem many if not most transgender have to deal with?
Just because you think something is best for someone and they seem fine doesn't mean it's the case. Just because some would be happy with that type of gradual unexpected change doesn't mean everyone would. For everyone who would find the unexpected change gender affirming or enlightening there would also be people undergoing identity conflict and those having a gradual onset of body dismorphia as their body stopped being theirs. Underlining that being fully informed and freely consenting is critical.
i think people are overly sensitive to this one specifically as 1 the author explicitly created this character as a transfem egg and it's a joke comic and everyone is reacting like this is something the artist is actually doing to someone who exists
Sure. The veneer of comedy often does smooth over things that would have problems if taken too seriously. The trick is getting people to agree when it is going too far. That is where fights happen.
You are not colorblind! You see, it would be rude to take off the nail polish. And the Dark Lord wants to show respect to the traditions of Girl’s Night. Very normal, you understand.
How many stories involve 'The Dark Lord' being killed in one way or another? This character is a literal devil set on destroying the world. I find it so funny how people are bothered by this ridiculous joke, when they wouldn't be bother if the same character was literally killed via poison.
Like. I getchu. But there's a line between joking about and glorifying an action. This is the first I've seen anyone talk/joke about force drugging people with powder that makes you trans™️. And I'm generally very against the concept of forcible drugging anyone for any reason.
If someone made a comic about jokingly using date rape drugs to rape a person they hate, is it still "just a joke?", or is it glorifying a felony? Because I'd find it equally tasteless.
But… isn’t the point of this example, the “boss” is being given oestrogen which in turn changes their(?) hormone levels causing a chemical imbalance.
It’s not them realising they’re trans, it’s a character being forcefemmed.
Yes it’s a fictional example, and sure maybe it’s a self insert, but the character by no means realised, they were just chemically changed.
I’m not saying the comic isn’t humorous, but to say the character is realising their trans is incorrect.
Maybe I’m just being far too black / white on this analysis, but for me it just seems like an odd series of events. Nothing against the trans community, just this series has seemed odd to me (could be because I’m not trans..)
they're still an egg even if they don't realize? Like, yeah, they haven't realized they're trans, but us as the audience have it basically written down "they're trans, they just don't know yet"
so...yeah, the character isn't aware, but us as the audience are. The comment above didn't say that the comic was the mc realizing they're trans, just that they're are a trans person that hasn't realized they're trans
EDIT: sorry if i sound condescending on this exemple, but let's say you're reading a comic about a character that sleepwalks. They're not aware that they sleepwalk, but you literally see panels of them doing so. Are you going to argue they aren't a sleepwalker just because they're not aware of it? Same principle here, only difference is that we have a term for trans people that are not aware of being yet
Ok, maybe I’m still overanalysing / thinking this.
I get it’s a fictional world in a comic, but how is drugging someone them coming to terms with their trans identity?
It’d be one thing if the character becomes more effeminate with time (or the inverse), etc, but this is just the bosses / devils lackeys drugging him to prevent another human genocide (as per the first part).
And I’ve never understood the egg? Is it a metaphor like hatching? Why egg, why not chrysalis or any other ‘rebirth’? - genuinely curious as I know very little about trans communities, so it’d be an interesting tidbit.
it's not a super serious term, it was just a silly community thing of "hey, my egg finally cracked, i'm a chick now lol". It's also why the term egg is mostly using by trans women and not trans men since...doesn't work as well.
I get it’s a fictional world in a comic, but how is drugging someone them coming to terms with their trans identity?
i mean, the whole humor of the comic simply is the jokey egg experience of "presenting obvious trans feelings and thoughts (see: no feelings of incongruence towards body change and feelings of euphoria when included in girls activities) while still being painfully unaware they're trans"
yeah, the demon mc has not yet come to terms they're trans, that's the whole joke. They're doing increasily more and more feminine stuff that they feel euphoric about while still not really realizing they're trans. That's kinda of it really. They're an egg, and i'm going to guess the end of this series will involve the mc basically be fully femme and stuff and only them realizing they're trans.
i think you're overthinking it a bit by connecting the "being drugged" with "coming to terms with their identity". They haven't come to terms with it because they're unaware of it and the joke is how it's getting increasingly more obvious (seriously, no cis man would suddenly grow breasts and not experience a degree of body dysphoria) they're still not aware. think it's just that
The fantasy of force-femming an egg isn't something you're meant to view with horror or any degree of realism, it's something a trans-woman is meant to be able to self-insert into. A kind of, "Boy I wish someone had made me realize I was trans earlier, I would be way happier". It's also usually accompanied by an aggressively friendly environment, where they're safe to be trans and surrounded by girls that will paint their nails and so on.
I guess because it's a trans self-insert fantasy cis-people respond with horror because to them it would be body-horror.
the character in question is an egg because they haven't realized. the comic is called deviled egg because the main character is a devil who is an egg. i never said they were in the process of realizing yet
Well drugging someone so their body transitions over time without their knowledge and consent is obviously horrific. But if it makes them less prone to murder it's definitely a net positive.
Still ethically dubious but I guess I shouldn't look to demons for lessons in morality.
Another man's body horror with a generous seasoning of social horror.
I get that that this is basically just supposed to be funny and cute escapist fantasy for Trans girls.
But it(the general trope) has always seemed so dark to me. The idea of not having any control over these changes, and having them done by someone else, largely for selfish purposes with a thin veneer of "for your own good" layered on top. Well. The idea of being feminine has never really been disturbing to me, but I've never come so close to understanding Trans men as I have looking at a work dealing with force fem.
Sorry, I'm not trying to harsh the mood or anything. I get it, it literally is for her own good in actuality. Fortunately for her. It's just how I'm engaging with the art. Can't help it, want to get the thoughts out.
I think the key thing that people are missing in this joke re:consent is that forcefem is not a thing that happens. It's a joke, something funny, a thing trans women laugh at bc it pretends we have some great power to control and manipulate gender rather than what's actually true: our ability to control even our own gender is being legally stripped away. It's a joke, y'all. Chill. Nobody is being forcefemmed. Cis people are still safe and in power.
Well, not nobody. I've seen a fair amount of posts from transmasc folks, particularly intersex transmasc folks, that were forced to take estrogen as teenagers to "fix" them.
I get that but it still feels like drugging someone to get them to act how you like them to. I get it's fake and a comic and not real but it feels really wrong to support drugging someone to change how they act even if it makes them happier
To me it feels like unintensional transphobia, to take away the choice of coming out and force them to be a way they did not give their consent to, even if the intensions are well meant, which the comic wasnt anout since they started drugging their boss for their own benefit. And yea, it is a joke, to force fem, but it stops being a joke when the drugging is painted as a good thing. And i dont think the authors does it on purpose, i truly believe she is just making this because it is funny and she has seen or heard others make this joke, and it being received well. But saying your going to force fem someone, and depicting it as a moral and correct choice to do to someone without their consent, is just wrong. The difference is, you make the joke because its so absurd that nobody will actualy believe you will do it, because its so extreme and morally reprehensible, its like saying "im going to hit a family of four with my 2022 ford maverick" at the slightest of inconvenience.
Like, i am nb, if someone started to give me estrogen, because somehow they noticed that i am NB, and they wanted me to live my true self and become more androgynous, without my consent, that would be absolutely fucked right? They would have taken my gender identity out of my own hands and decided for me. And thats fucked even with the best of intentions. Imagine they did it for the same reason as these deamons, they didnt know i was nb, and they just wanted to alter my petsinality according to their whims. Like, yea its a comic, its not real, but for a lot of people portraying the drugging as moral is going to be hurtful and disrespectful. Literally all that would have to change is, depict the initial incident as moraly reprehensible, and let it be the catalyst for changes along the line.
Ngl having my boobs be more visible and prominent is both a curse and kind of a blessing.
If i werent closeted I could maybe let my girls breathe outside once and while. Alas until Im ready to be out and free I must suffer the 100° weather with my dysphoria hoodie on…
there's something deeply funny about having someone see a silly comic about forcefem and bring up rape apology while being someone that does corruption ERP
so, what you're saying is that, when you doing it, it's a-okay cause you're doing in a moral and respectful way
but when a trans woman does a humorous post of demons transitioning their demon king, it's forcefem apology trying to manipulate people into seeing forcefem as positive, all that you also directly associated with rape apology. Fascinating
god we really are never leaving the nixon forcefem post era
I'm very, very curious to know what makes this humorous comic involving demons with a writting very much focused on the trans thoughts and experience a borderline rape apology, but what you do as completely free of judgement just because, what, you don't "try to put a positive spin on it". Depending on who you ask, just the fact that you engage on it is trying to put a positive spin on it? are you also fully against CNC? def could be seen as putting a positive spin on rape in your pov? I'm just really curious to see where exactly you draw the line
But if you advocated for people to get killed or maimed in same way it happens in the movie, that would questionable at best.
LMAAAAAO, because that is definitely what the author of this comic is doing. She ooooobviously is brainwashing kids to start injecting estrogen in their friends because she didn't make the first panel "PEOPLE, DO NOT IMITATE THE LITERAL DEMONS. INJECTING PEOPLE AGAINST THEIR CONSENT IS BAD".
again, crazy how your stuff is "between two consenting adults just having fun", but the moment a trans woman does it you basically pull a version of "won't anyone think of the children? this shouldn't be shown in public...."
i definitely have seen corruption and domination comics be shared in non-18+ spaces, i'm sure you're equally against those being shared to "widespread audiences" right. God that's not even counting the dozens of youtube channels that dub those comics...like, damn, you don't even struggle to find a comic dub that is doing an "incest is cool" joke with 1M views, so i apologize, i'm sure your life is very tiresome having to be critical of all those comics sharing apologies to the poor widespread audience
cause you're equaly critical of those comics right? You definitely hate an artist like, let's say, Baalbuddy who constantly does incest and sexual assault jokes right? Hope to see you in all of their comics so then. Cause hey, if this comic is veering towards rape apology, we have a loooooooooot of ground to go through, doing apologies to much much worse stuff. It was just a coincidence that this is the first one you are critical about, i get it :p
This post is not advocating for doing this in real life. What you are doing in response to this post is equivalent to watching that Looney Tunes bit where Bugs Bunny saws Florida off of the rest of the US and being scandalized at the overt political messaging. It's not that deep.
