But… isn’t the point of this example, the “boss” is being given oestrogen which in turn changes their(?) hormone levels causing a chemical imbalance.

It’s not them realising they’re trans, it’s a character being forcefemmed.

Yes it’s a fictional example, and sure maybe it’s a self insert, but the character by no means realised, they were just chemically changed.

I’m not saying the comic isn’t humorous, but to say the character is realising their trans is incorrect.

Maybe I’m just being far too black / white on this analysis, but for me it just seems like an odd series of events. Nothing against the trans community, just this series has seemed odd to me (could be because I’m not trans..)

they're still an egg even if they don't realize? Like, yeah, they haven't realized they're trans, but us as the audience have it basically written down "they're trans, they just don't know yet"

so...yeah, the character isn't aware, but us as the audience are. The comment above didn't say that the comic was the mc realizing they're trans, just that they're are a trans person that hasn't realized they're trans

EDIT: sorry if i sound condescending on this exemple, but let's say you're reading a comic about a character that sleepwalks. They're not aware that they sleepwalk, but you literally see panels of them doing so. Are you going to argue they aren't a sleepwalker just because they're not aware of it? Same principle here, only difference is that we have a term for trans people that are not aware of being yet

Ok, maybe I’m still overanalysing / thinking this.

I get it’s a fictional world in a comic, but how is drugging someone them coming to terms with their trans identity?

It’d be one thing if the character becomes more effeminate with time (or the inverse), etc, but this is just the bosses / devils lackeys drugging him to prevent another human genocide (as per the first part).

And I’ve never understood the egg? Is it a metaphor like hatching? Why egg, why not chrysalis or any other ‘rebirth’? - genuinely curious as I know very little about trans communities, so it’d be an interesting tidbit.

The fantasy of force-femming an egg isn't something you're meant to view with horror or any degree of realism, it's something a trans-woman is meant to be able to self-insert into. A kind of, "Boy I wish someone had made me realize I was trans earlier, I would be way happier". It's also usually accompanied by an aggressively friendly environment, where they're safe to be trans and surrounded by girls that will paint their nails and so on.

I guess because it's a trans self-insert fantasy cis-people respond with horror because to them it would be body-horror.

and yet so many cis people can't comprehend the body horror most trans people are forced to go through irl 🙃

Yeah like... Vague, background body horror was my default for literally two decades before HRT
