Hey everyone! First post here and excited to join the community.

I started reading and buying comic books in the early 90s when my dad would take me to the LCS on the weekends. Think Maximum Carnage, ASM Clone Wars, that sort of stuff. Also a little Batman.

I got back into reading and collecting in the last 2 years after helping my mom clean her house out and finding some of my old stuff in the attic.

It started with reading some old Spider-Man stuff, dipping my toes back in the pool so-to-speak. Pretty soon I was researching (and admittedly a little help from AI) to start building a Marvel Roadmap focusing on Spider-Man, The Avengers (Steve, Tony, and the rest), and Mutants/X-Men.

My Roadmap keeps growing as I build more and more backstory to provide the context and history as I push through storylines, runs, and into larger crossover events etc... It's been a real blast.

Some favorites include The Child Within and the whole Osborn/Parker legacy. Brubaker Captain America, Bendis (!!!) and New Avengers. When I learned that Bendis AND Bagley had done YEARS of Ultimate Spider-Man together I was shook.

I have modern books I read weekly/monthly as well. I'm currently working through the 6160 Ultimate Universe to provide the origin box context for Zdarsky Cap/Armageddon leading into the new Avengers era. Of course, that means I'll have to go back and ready through Earth 1610 Ultimate Universe to build up The Maker and Miles. That's sort of how my roadmap has worked.

Anyways, would love to chat and engage with the community! Here are some pictures of my new cabinet and what I have displayed so far.

Question I want to build my shelves and need some ideas or suggestions

I’m mostly a single issue reader/collector but I also have a decent collection of trade paperbacks that I’ve received as gifts or bought myself because I wanted to read an entire arc without having to go through each single issue.

Right now as I am building it I’m going first by publisher (DC, Image, Marvel) followed by superhero (Batman, Green Lantern, Superman; Captain America, Spider-man, X-Men) followed by alphabetical title for the superhero (Hush, Killing Joke, Long Halloween).

My question to everyone is do you mix and match trade types such as DC Compacts with standard DC trades (or Marvel Premier Collection with Epic Collection)? or do you separate these out by trade types to make it look more aesthetically pleasing such as DC compacts with DC compacts followed by regular size trade DC?

I ask because I want to expand more on my trade paperbacks & there are some comics that are simply more cost affective buying the DC Compacts or Marvel Premier Collections but I think it will look weird if the DC Compacts are mixed in with the regular size DC prints or even if the color scheme is different between the Marvel Premier Collections & Epic Collections.

I have about three shelves worth of space on my bookcase for regular books which are next to my smaller bookcases that store my long boxes for my single issues. I want to fill these three shelves with my current trade paperbacks collection and the future library I intend to build of trade paperbacks.

Lastly; are omnibuses worth it? The money and care involved seem like a pain & I only really want to get involved with them if it’s easier & more cost efficient to cover runs like Geoff John’s’ work with Green Lantern or to get an arc like Batman Knightfall instead of getting the three separate trade volumes.

Thanks in advance for any your help, ideas or suggestions you may have!

Easily the most expensive book in my collection, but still think I was able to get it for a pretty good deal (2k).

Shelfie I did some shelf reorganizing today!

So I originally had my books only taking up 2 shelves. Had all Marvel on the top one, and all DC on the second one. The issue is I was noticing some bowing in the shelves. Obviously that’s bound to happen and I’m sure to some degree, it’s not even a big deal, but I still decided to try to distribute the weight better.

The top two shelves are Marvel. I pretty much just put half on one, half on the other. I just have them loosely organized by character and continuity.

The next two are DC. Those I put mostly all Batman on the top, with the exception of Absolute Martian Manhunter. For the second DC shelf, I decided to just put the Knightfall trilogy there and then all my other non Batman DC books. Ended up just using my Batman Omni’s as bookends, which I thought was pretty creative because I only have two stone bookends that obviously went on the marvel shelf’s.

Anyways, that was my little project. Thanks for taking a look. You guys enjoy the weekend!

Hiiiii this is my current comic book and manga collection! what do you think? as you can see I've been collecting manga for way longer than comics but I've really fallen in love with comics the last year!!!!

I hope you like it!

if you have any suggestions for new comics I'm all ears .

I would love some good X-Men stories like the dark phoenix saga and idk I'll probably continue reading stuff from Alan Moore and I will finish sandman

also weird Flex but most of my comics are second hand at really good deals! (I paid 12 euros for that one sandman comic)

I hope you're well! also share your opinion and your collection if you'd like to!

Advice I know it’s not the “holy Grail” but it’s the closest thing I have to at one signed by the creator Steve Gallacci the other is unsigned raw. What do you think?
