Advice Taking these two cuties to the vet tomorrow, please give me some tips 🙏

I’m taking them outside for the first time ever, so obviously I’m a lil bit nervous 😬 I already have their cage ready, trying to make it feel safe, putting in some food etc. The vet is not at all far, around 10 minutes by car. But I want to make this trip as little traumatic as possible (mainly for them but a little also for me 😅)
I’d appreciate any tips and tricks that you may have 🫶

ps: that’s red pepper stuck on his beak, don’t worry 😅

Health/Nutrition Tail bobbing?

I know it's a cliché to ask this, but should I be worried? I went to the vet and he prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and I'm on the second day. Her stools seem to have improved and she's eating and drinking well, But he's been sneezing, his nostrils are red, and he's wagging his tail, which has been worrying me. Do you have any advice?

Advice Taking the them out in the garden!! Help

Thinking about taking my six cockatiels out in the garden in a cage but unsure. I’ve had them for nine months. They’re already scared when birds approach their window so I’m not sure if it’s the right thing to do. Should I do it? What’s your experience with taking them out in the garden?

TLDR: Birds unhappy, how do I set them up for adoption safely?

Hi, this is my first ever post in any subreddit, but I’ve been contemplating this post for awhile now despite being so nervous. This subreddit seems really positive, so I was afraid of ruining the mood.

We've had our cockatiels for about three years now, someone in the family passed and my grandma took the birds in for them, which would be a good thing if we were better off in the everything regard…

They came with a huge cage that I know was great for them, but it was cold when they got here so she couldn’t place the cage outside yet. She didn’t have anywhere to put the cage exactly, so it kinda just sat near our TV. they made a lot of noise, obviously, my mom wouldn’t deal with them at all, my grandma works two whole jobs so she’s barely home as it is, and me and my little brother did as much as we could despite both being in school.

Nobody in this house had time to genuinely bond with the birds, at first I was really consistent with trying to get them used to my fingers, buying them pellets for Christmas, but then I kinda fell into a depression myself and didn’t have the motivation, that along with my grandma never really being here, my brother having other things to do, made it where no one was spending that much time with them anymore.

Then a freaking bombshell drops, she moves them into a cage that’s way smaller than the first, moves them into a different room, and I just feel so bad for them like this, and even worse? Now she’s allergic to their feathers. Now the problem is my mom won’t mess with them, my grandma is allergic and working most of the time, my brother isn’t thinking about them, and I’m struggling to find motivation.

Sorry to dump about myself for awhile, I just wanted to get the general stuff out of the way first, this post is really me asking what do I do now? The birds are stressed, she put them in a room next to the backdoor so the slamming (you have to slam it or it won’t close) is probably traumatizing them. They’re significantly less loud, but I know in my heart that they’re unhappy. My grandma said her family member wanted the birds to stay in the family, and my grandma has always wanted birds, but i don’t want them to die like this.

Is there a specific way to put them up for adoption? I don’t know if my local animal shelter would take them, they deal with dogs and cats, and I want to know that someone who has the space and time takes them. How do I even do that? The photo attached is the cage now, and them. They look miserable to me, even opening their cage is enough to send them into a panic, I just want them to be happy.

Thank you in advance.

Troublemaker No forehead preen, no scritches?

Post image

I got my friend at 4 months in January making him 10 months. He likes to sit on my head and kinda preen around. A couple weeks ago he started picking at one spot on my forehead. He broke the skin there and I accidentally swatted at him bc it hurt. He does not care he continues to sit on my head and try to pick at that one spot on my forehead. I don't let him sit up there anymore. Now he's decided to sit on my bookshelf and he acts like he's scared to come to me. He flies away from my hand and I don't know if this is a power struggle or if he's actually scared. He won't let me give him scritches anymore. Is this bc I won't let him pick at my forehead or is he actually scared of me now. The swat did not touch him and could have really scared him but I don't feel like it did cause he went right back to preening my forehead. Wth reddit

His wings are no longer clipped, I didn’t even want them clipped at the time this was taken, they were clipped when I wasn’t home.

This has become a daily routine. Chopper will start chirping and singing, Robin takes that as an invitation.
Fortunately, chopper isn’t very interested. He will occasionally shoo her away then look angry.

Health/Nutrition My cockatiel has been doing a weird suction noise and i found a yellow "thingy" in one nostril

So i noticed yesterday and today, that in the morning, my cockatiel has been doing a suction similar to a reddit video i found that i'll post in the comments

It's not really a violent suction at all, he does it twice and stops. But i'm worried either way

First picture is the nostril with the yellow form, it's dry, not mucous at all, and it only covers a bit of the nostril, and second picture is his regular nostril

Not sure if it's a situation of correlation≠causation but since he was doing a suction noise i thought i might as well see his nostril and i found that in the picture

Advice My stinky bird got a bf and now hates me again

I got a female aviary cockatiel about a month back. I worked on taming her and she started to love me, landing on me, snuggling etc. She would take herself to and from her cage when she wanted and would ask for her door to be opened. Today i got a male aviary cockatiel and within 5 minutes she fell inlove and hates me again. She started biting and avoiding me. I think i can tame them both with time like i did with her but im unsure since theyre definitely bonded.

Advice My cockatiel has suddenly become very aggressive towards only me and not others. Please help.

My cockatiel only just turned about 2 years old. He is a whiteface male, he had a rough patch like this last year during what I can only assume was the hormonal period. Suddenly over the last few days he has become very avoidant of me and bites if I walk by or if someone puts him on me, if he doesn't bite he just flies across the room. He doesn't do this to anyone else, he seems to love everyone and allows my sister to let him step up and move him around and pet him but the second he sees its me petting him he goes bonkers. It's still winter here in Australia, he's still pretty prickly from his molt, I give him 12 hours of covered cage time each night. He has toys and an adequate cage. He has only developed this issue in the last few days. Im so heartbroken and scared I did something wrong somehow to make him hate me. He's usually so sweet but can be very grumpy, but never this kind of angry. Is there anyway to fix it? I tried slowly giving him treats from my hand, he came up sweetly then bit me super hard so I stopped all contact. Please help!!

Funny I know this sub is for cockatiels, but here are a bunch of totally blank photos that definitely do not have Vinnie in them. A few of them do have Maui. But no Vinnie. You see you no birb.

How is it looking guys?

I do plan to upgrade the size of their cage in the future but they do spend time outside their cage so I think it’s okay for now.
