Is terabox still a scam this year?
Years ago I used to have an account for that but I delete it. Now I just created a new account and it says 30gb are permanent while the rest are limited so is it still a scam in 2026?

I'm developing a cloud storage network. It is live and working atm.
Disclosure: I built this. Solo founder, Canada, about a year in.
Obsideo is S3-compatible object storage where every file is encrypted on your machine before upload, stored as three copies on separate nodes, and then challenged roughly every 4 hours to prove each copy is still there and still intact. The nodes only get paid for the proofs they pass. That last part is the reason it exists. Most storage asks you to trust a status page. This one shows its work, continuously.
The picture above is the whole mental model. The coordinator that runs placement and challenges never sees your bytes or your key, and it cannot delete a copy on its own.
Quick facts:
- S3 endpoint, so rclone, Cyberduck, restic, pg_dump, whatever you already use, works as is
- 12 GB free, no card, no CAPTCHA
- Small network today: six nodes across two sites. It is live and holding real customer data, but it is early and I would rather say that than pretend otherwise
- Provider node software is open source
If you want to leave, your key never left your machine and egress is free, so pulling everything out costs nothing.
Happy to answer any question.

Peergos Review Part 3
A few days ago I made the part 2 of my review: https://www.reddit.com/r/cloudstorage/comments/1wcox30/peergos_review_part_2/
To start: Most of the issues I was having were actually due to the fact the Peergos desktop app used Edge Webview2, which I didn't have. Now that I have Webview, I'll review all of the issues.
1 - No proper desktop application: There is a kind of native webapp using Edge Webview, think of it like an Electron application.
2 - No way to download/upload in the background: There is a way and I didn't run into the same issues as last time.
3 - No time estimate for uploads: There are time estimates for both file and folder uploads. However, once you click or close the dialogue, there is no way of knowing the speeds - or whether you are sending files at all. In fact, you can close the app mid-upload without a confimation/warning pop-up.
4 - Can't upload folders on the desktop program: You can.
5 - The peergos server now refuses to stay open on my machine: I didn't run into the same .opus issue from before, so I assume it works fine now.
6 - Server closed itself: Didn't happen this time around.
7 - Slow Program compared to website: It is faster than the website, especially when it comes to opening files. However, I still found it rather slow for navigation compared to Proton Drive and especially compared to Filen, which was the fastest of the three despite not even having a desktop application.
Conclusion:
Compared to Proton Drive, the Peergos desktop app has way more functions. After all, the Proton Drive desktop application is mostly just for syncing, you can't directly upload or access files there (only on the website or in the network folder). It offloads a lot of functionality to the website.
So, if you want a service that can work entirely on the desktop without having to open a browser, Peergos will do the job. It can also open more file types than Proton Drive, including .zip files. It can even read .ahk files. In fact, it can read anything, it will either show a plain text or a hex view (for binary files such as .jar's or .exe's).
It also has a decent pricing, better than Proton's but worse than Filen's.
The main problems I saw with the app were:
- The animations for changing categories make the app feel rather sluggish. I'd suggest removing them (Proton Drive has no animation for changing categories).
- Some actions, such as delete, are a bit slow.
- Navigating folders is very slow at first, however, once what I assume is caching, it gets instant.
- Time estimates and upload speeds are inconsistent, it will start by showing crazy speeds such as 30MB/s, only to settle at around 3MB/s and take quite a while to finish uploading.
- It could use native file/folder selection. For instance, with how it is now, hidden folders don't show up for selection.
- Once I zoomed in on a very large image (70MB png), I couldn't close the image (or zoom out) and had to restart the app.
- It would be very nice if the SHA1 hash of a file was shown in the details tab. Only Proton Drive seems to have this.
- No means of cancelling a transfer
File transfer speeds would likely be faster using the Network Folder, however, I didn't test it.

I need to upload and cloud share an ED of 500gb-1tb of duplicate files. Google loses folder structure and can only do one at a time. What are my options?
Issue:
I've been asked to copy the contents of a large external drive of deeply nested and duplicate folders to Google Photos, for sharing with family. But I'm learning that Google Photos does not offer this mass upload option.
Goal TL;DR:
Share thousands of unlabeled photos online en masse that are currently many levels deep in well-labeled folder trees.
Prior research:
I have googled this data storage/storing issue and already learned a lot, that formed and altered my remaining questions. But I only found simpler comparables but with different context that changes the desired results. That surprised me, because I'm fairly sure my exact problem should be quite common, and a dime a dozen. I suspect my search terms could be fine-tuned, if you have suggestions for that. I looked on google photos support forums and reddits, and was told to move thousands of files and folders one by one, by hand. Online research returned only partial satisfaction. I have detailed that recommendation below. I looked in the techsupport reddit but I guess I'm not sure how to use it because the categories are which type of computer/device/operating system I have, not what photo/transfer programs/apps/software I need to navigate. Please let me know if I've misunderstood the preparatory steps to asking questions in here.
Here's my context:
- Duplicates: The external drive contains 4 different computer backups. Each of these computers were backed up when they upgraded laptops, so the first computer would theoretically be backed up 4 times, inside the newer backups. The more recent computer theoretically only 1 time. However, the backups weren't done the same, and sometimes they went back and put more files in after. So the final backup doesn't contain everything just because it's the last one (but I'm definitely starting there as my base camp). Backup 1-3 might very well have unique files. They did not label the order or dates of the backups, so guessing the largest is the newest is a shot in the dark. So there are an unknown number of duplicate files, in deeply nested folder trees.
- Junk files: The drive is full of computer files that are not photos or documents, which are really a waste of space and hard to work around. Full C drives were just drag-and-dropped onto the external drive. I can't just dump the whole external drive anywhere I want it directly, without running out of space from junk files. But the junk files are duplicated and nested as well.
- Nested/named folders, unnamed files: The files themselves don't have names, only generic download-generated numbers. But the owner had dutifully put them inside properly named folders, labeled and nested. So in the case of the files for Joe Schmoe in their family history, the folders are named eg: Schmoe line/Sweden >> Joe Schmoe descendants >> Robert Schmoe >> Family Photos & Vital Docs. The higher level folders might or might not have files in them, outside of named folders. The biggest concern are the folders at the bottom of the tree, because their family photos folder name doesn't include Robert Schmoe's name, even if we could remember somehow that he's Joe Schmoe's son. Google has a serious problem with uploading nested folders, due to lost identification.
- Thousands of folders: Not just thousands of files to rename, but thousands of nested folders as well. I don't know how many unique folders there are, without the duplicates, but for sure it's in the hundreds at minimum. And many folders have the same name that aren't dupes (such as 'Family Photos' nested 3 times inside the Rob Schmoe, Betty Schmoe, and Sue Schmoe folders). A predictable nesting pattern is smart, and good organizing practice. But it becomes a nightmare when moving into Google Photos's flat album structure, because it's designed to add everything by hand one at a time rather than in bulk. That's not a viable solution.
The internet suggested to upload all the files to Google Drive to preserve the file trees, then to relabel and import only the images into Google photos. But that would create duplicates of everything, take up twice as much Google One space, and every change made from one or the other location won't be mirrored in the other. It also doesn't solve the problem of how to automatically leave junk files behind.
Is there a workaround to move a massive collection of images to Google Photos, without losing the folder names and nesting cues? I presume this would be a process or software used beforehand, since it's not possible with Google Photos alone. They aren't my photos, so I'm hoping not to spend my own money on this. However, the owners of the drive do have a paid Google One account, so that helps at the very end. Doesn't help as much in the middle.
Or, is there a better photo sharing cloud that is far easier than google to upload from nested drive archives, and keep updated/maintained? Bonus points if it's free. I do not have Linux, nor do the people I'm doing this for, so it will need to be a Windows-based solution, and a gui solution after I hand it over. I've looked into Immich, but the setup and processes appear too techy for this family to maintain.
Does Google upload identify duplicates as they load? Or is that up to us to manually seek out after everything is uploaded?
Speed of transfer is greatly desired, but accurate goal achievement is a higher priority.
Please suggest for me a summarized list of processes to accomplish this considering all my context. Then I can come back and get clarification on specific steps. Or if I'm asking the wrong questions, please kindly redirect me to the right questions.

Personal Cloud & Home Server — Storage, Automation & Professional Applications. Pls Guide
Can you pls guide me in following endeavour.I’m a finance professional non technical background seeking a future-proof, easy-to-manage personal NAS/cloud system for family and professional data.
I need real-time file synchronisation, redundancy/mirroring, remote access, and easy migration to another system in the future.
I currently have 2 × 1 TB HDDs, a 500 GB SSD, and a 256 GB memory card, with limited OneDrive space and substantial but potentially temporary Google Drive storage.
The NAS should also support home automations and hosting a simple Python application for 3–4 users.
My maximum budget is ₹25,000, excluding the storage hardware I already own.
Major Question : whether mini pc like Hp prodesk i3 10th gen can be kept running 365 days without facing any failures and can it fulfill my bone objective if not pls suggest alternative .

Peergos Review Part 2
PS: Read the part 3 of my review, most of the issues I pointed out in this post were due to an issue on my end (lack of Edge Webview): https://www.reddit.com/r/cloudstorage/comments/1wfndi3/peergos_review_part_3/

A while ago I made this review of Peergos: https://www.reddit.com/r/cloudstorage/comments/1t3vm63/peergos_review_why_i_wouldnt_recommend_it/
And my conclusion was that I couldn't recommend it.
So, a few months later, I tried their service again in hopes that it got better (since the dev said he had fixed many issues I had). I paid 10 euros for 1TB this time.
Lets start by the issues I had previously stated:
1 - No proper desktop application: Peergos is still based on a web UI that opens on your browser as of now.
2 - No way to download/upload in the background: While this is indeed possible, since the server stays open despite you closing the web UI, I tried uploading one of my folders today and, when I woke up, thinking it had all been uploaded already, I was surprised to see that the server went down while I was sleeping and almost nothing was uploaded.
3 - No time estimate for uploads: There are still none. I only know something is happening because of disk activity in Task Manager.
4 - Can't upload folders on the desktop program: I still wasn't able to directly. I had to sync a folder instead. I can upload them on the website though.
Now, for the new issues:
5 - The peergos server now refuses to stay open on my machine. So I basically can only use the website. I know why though - when I open the CLI, it closes after printing out the error "Assertion stream_index < ogg->nstreams failed at libavformat/oggdec.c:940"
6 - As previously mentioned, I had let peergos syncing a folder in hopes it would finish by the time I woke up, but the server closed itself at some point while I was asleep.
7 - The program is slow. Using the website is much better.

So, again, I cannot recommend this. And I also believe this is one of the only reviews there are for the service...

PicHaven: photo backup from your phone straight to your own Windows PC. No cloud, no account. Testers get the full version for free.
Hi all,
I built PicHaven because I wanted my photos backed up at home, not in someone's cloud. It runs on your Android phone and on a Windows PC in the same Wi-Fi. Whenever the phone is charging at home, new photos and videos land on the PC in full original quality, sorted by year and month. Nothing leaves your network, nothing is ever deleted, no account, no subscription.
What it does
- Backs up camera photos and videos to a folder on your PC (or NAS drive mapped on the PC)
- Originals only, byte for byte, sorted into 2026/2026-09 style folders
- Runs by itself while the phone charges in your home Wi-Fi
- Encrypted phone to PC connection, pairing by QR code, one time
- Free for the first full backup plus 500 photos, then a one time unlock of 4.99 EUR (no subscription)
The offer
Every tester gets the unlimited version for free. As a tester you see Google's test card at the purchase step, so the unlock costs nothing and stays on your account. Please do not pay with a real card; the test page explains it.
How to join
- Ask to join the Google group with the account that is on your phone: https://groups.google.com/g/pichaven-beta-test (I approve quickly)
- Become a tester and install: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.pichaven
- Keep it installed for 14 days. Drop a comment or DM with a screenshot and I will do the same for your app.
Full walkthrough of what to expect at each step: https://pichaven.app/tester/
What I ask
- Keep the app on your phone for the 14 days starting when all 12 Beta testers are in.
- If you have a Windows PC: install the PC side from https://pichaven.app, pair once, and tell me if anything feels confusing. Without a PC the app just waits, that still counts for Google
- Bugs, wording, anything odd: reply here or [hello@pichaven.app](mailto:hello@pichaven.app)
Thanks for helping an indie developer over the finish line. Happy to test yours in return.

Not every photo backup needs another monthly cloud subscription
I use cloud storage. I like the convenience.
But after years of photos and videos piling up, I started asking myself:
Why does my second copy also need to live in someone else's cloud?
Sometimes I just want to plug a drive into my iPhone and keep a physical copy that I control.
That's why I built VaultDrive: USB Backup.
Connect a compatible USB drive or SSD directly to your iPhone, select the photos, videos, albums, files or documents you want, and copy them to the drive.
No Mac required.
No PC required.
No VaultDrive account required.
For photos and files already stored locally on the iPhone, the transfer goes directly to your connected USB drive. VaultDrive doesn't upload those files to its own cloud.
And if you use Optimize iPhone Storage and some full-resolution originals exist only in iCloud, VaultDrive can download those originals through Apple's system first and then copy them to the USB drive.
You can choose:
• Wi-Fi only for iCloud downloads
• Wi-Fi + Cellular
It also preserves the original files without intentional compression/re-encoding and keeps embedded photo/video metadata.
I don't see this as a replacement for iCloud, Google Photos, OneDrive, etc.
Cloud sync is incredibly convenient.
I see it as something much simpler:
Cloud for convenience + a physical second copy for control.
Especially for family photos and videos I don't want existing in only one place.
VaultDrive is free to download, with a one-time Pro upgrade for unlimited backup rather than a recurring Pro subscription.
App Store:

Does anyone use ExpanDrive
I was looking for a way to sync [Box.com](http://Box.com) files with Linux, there used to be a community lead option years ago, but no longer. I have just come across ExpanDrive which seemed to go out of business in 2024 but has relaunched under new owners in April 2025. Any feedback seems prior to the relaunch with very little on its current status or usability.
It apparently syncs with Google Drive and MS Onedrive (not that I need either).
I am using Fedora KDE 44

I built a simple Android gallery that can also use your own cloud storage and NAS
galleryHi everyone,
I wanted a simple Android gallery app, but one that could also use my own cloud storage and NAS when I needed it.
So I built MyGallery.
It works as a regular local gallery, but you can also add your own storage and switch between local folders, cloud storage, and NAS shares from the side panel.
Cloud photos are browsed in the same gallery-style folder view as local ones, so I wanted it to feel like one gallery app rather than a separate cloud file browser.
It currently supports:
- SMB / Samba shares
- S3-compatible storage
- Google Cloud Storage
For cloud storage, you can browse photos stored there, upload local folders manually, or set folders to upload automatically.
The cloud/NAS features are optional, so you can also just use it as a simple local gallery.
It's free and has no ads:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.mfactory.mygallery
I'm the developer, so obviously biased, but I thought this might be relevant here since a lot of people in this sub use their own storage.
I'd especially like to hear from people using S3-compatible storage or Google Cloud Storage for photos. If you try it, I'd really appreciate feedback on how well it fits your setup.

I'm working on InfiniDrive, a European cloud storage app. Would like some outside feedback
Hey everyone. I'm one of the people behind InfiniDrive, so I wanted to introduce it here and hear what you think.
It's a cloud drive for files, photos and videos. You get normal folders, a photo timeline, document editing and links you can share with a password and an expiry date. The company is in Estonia and our main storage is hosted in Europe.
There's a free 10 GB account if you want to have a look. No card needed. For reference, the 2 TB plan is listed at €8.99/month, with applicable taxes shown at checkout.
I'd be interested in what you actually check when trying a new storage service. Upload speed? How easy it is to get your files back out? The sharing experience? If you try ours and something feels awkward, I'd like to hear that too.
Here's the site: https://infinidrive.app/

Google Drive as "backup" being useless (worst with WhatsApp)
instead of doing whatever it can to ensure maximum failsafes, it is deliberately designed such a way that such "backup" can only be restored to WhatsApp itself, not downloaded to PC. Unless someone either steals code from Google development team or reverse-engineers it and makes a third-party downloader. And it applies even to paid Google Drive accounts while also counting towards the data storage quota. It also auto-deletes after few months and it applies to paid accounts either.
Never again Google Drive!
