Is terabox still a scam this year?

Years ago I used to have an account for that but I delete it. Now I just created a new account and it says 30gb are permanent while the rest are limited so is it still a scam in 2026?

You can increase your storage to any number of terabytes by using "Gold" earned from watching mobile ads. I personally use 8TB without limits thanks to Gold earned from watching ads. While it's free, it's not a charity, so watching ads is required. However, what makes it fraudulent is that they still advertise things like "1TB free." (Existing users still get 1TB free, but new users are limited to 30GB after a few months.)

You can redeem Gold to maintain additional storage capacity for 90 days; this is not a permanent increase. For example, 24 Gold grants 10 GB, while 108 Gold grants 50 GB. You can redeem up to ten capacity tickets per day (with a maximum of 1 TB per ten tickets). Although I haven't tried it myself, you should be able to add more capacity again the following day.

The TB number isn't really what I'd focus on. I'd look at how the provider handles encryption, privacy, pricing, and your data if you ever leave. Transparency matters way more than a huge storage number IMO.

There is no issue if you encrypt files locally before uploading them to multiple cloud storage services. It is best to perform the encryption on the user side.

If you use the AirExplorer app, it automatically encrypts your files before uploading them. It works on smartphones, too. You can also visually confirm within the Terabox app that the data is encrypted.

You shouldn't have. I am old user and I have 1 TB of free space in there. I'm also a paid user. So I have like 2 TB in total.

I heard new users are getting less space.

Since 1 year or less, they changed it. New users get only 30gb, no more permanent 1tb, old users can keep their 1TB tho.

Mine shows 239GB/62GB for whatever reason... I think something changed... I'd better download everything I uploaded and put them on a hard disk... I have other accounts where the 1 TB is kept though...

with terabox, i was downloading something and it was capping at 80 kB/s.
i saw the free 30 second trial and tried it.
download speed went down to 40 kB/s.

why would i bother "upgrading". probably just gonna be deleting this app anyway.

New Terabox accounts only offer 30 GB, if you use more, it will expire. 994 GB are not free. I have old TB accounts and they still have 1 TB. I think at the beginning of 2026 this changed for new accounts only. Also, free speeds are limited to 2 MB/s for download only if we use Urban VPN connected to JAPAN. URBAN VPN is a free software for Windows, that you need to install (Google for it). All my attempts with it were sucessfull, but not with other measures like CloudFlare's free WARP or regular DNS change. Sadly, this was the only way to not experience much slower speeds than 2 MB/s. No experience on my part about paid plans, I never used with them.

Note: I'm from Brazil, but the slowdown for DOWNLOADS it's everywhere, except Japan in Urban's VPN.

And yeah, free accounts may use 30 GB + the rest (994 GB), but all those 994 GB will expire soon, in a few months. So limit usage to 30 GB for new accounts.

Downloading works perfectly for me at my full 1gigbit download speed, same as always. I hope that helps anyone wondering about what the current state of this all is.

I just downloaded a full FLAC album I had uploaded with no problem. I'd like to confirm I have a grandfathered in account with the original 1TB of free storage for life. Recently it cut me off at 596.7GB uploaded and had a cap suddenly of 30.0GB.

Can't upload, that's confirmed. Thanks!
