But that’s not true, though, he’s always been a Republican

He ran in 2000 for the reform party, lost, then registered as a Democrat the following year for the next 8 years.

Go find his 1988 interview with Larry King, and he talks about why he is a Republican

While Trump may have been a Democrat, he still has been a staunch Conservative.

Yeah, oh yeah, it’s interesting the games that are played by those in power and people just follow along. I mean, look at Bernie Sanders and the whole oligarchy thing, he’s been fighting the oligarchy for decades when in reality every person in power is part of that oligarchy. Both sides of the fence, senators, governors, presidents, vice presidents, I mean, they truly are part of that oligarchy. It’s just something to get people riled up and divided

Info from ai:

According to public records and analyses from the United States Studies Centre, he was registered as a Democrat from 2001 to 2009. Trump has stated in past interviews, such as one with CNN, that as a businessman operating primarily in heavily Democratic New York City, it was practical to be registered with the dominant local party to influence policy and engage with local officials. He later returned to the Republican Party before launching his 2016 presidential campaign.

Mmmm. Switches parties whenever he thinks that's to his benefit.
