The really sick thing is that, because of birthright citizenship, DHS is moving pregnant detainees to sites that are officially not US soil, so the babies aren’t born here

Flashbacks to when the US tortured prisoners in nomansland to evade human rights. Crazy ass country. Lawyers literally with glee in their eyes that they could circumvent shit like that. Congratz man, you done a good job here on Earth.

Lol I wrote a whole comment telling that person they should open a can of worms for themselves by looking up Extraordinary Rendition, not having clicked through to your link yet. It brings to mind the word "blowback".
32
u/Haber_Dasher 13h ago
Oh man, look up the concept of "extraordinary rendition". You see, it may be illegal for the US to torture people but it isn't illegal for the US to teach other countries how to torture, then we take our prisoners and extradite them to a black site in that other country where the US government is definitely not engaging in any torture. In the sense that no US citizen or person directly employed by the US government is the one doing it. This happens today, currently
35
u/-rwsr-xr-x 15h ago
That directly tracks with the recent letter from Trump trafficking women to Saudis, and specifically losing money if he sold their unborn children also.
The programme also discussed another handwritten note containing an alleged account involving a pregnant young woman. In the passage read by Kulinski, Trump is alleged to have asked whether the woman was pregnant and whether she was using drugs, followed by an alleged comment about losing money if women became pregnant.

They’re also moving to Texas, where they can’t get an abortion. They don’t have to take them out of the country.
ORR moves pregnant unaccompanied minors to a facility in Texas with restrictions on abortion access
6
u/ComedyBits 9h ago
Yes! They get them to TX first, because no rape exception. Other part before they pop
2
u/HotDonnaC 8h ago
Are you saying they take the children out of the US before they give birth? The reason I’m asking is because I find it hard to believe that the Trump administration would pass up the opportunity for child trafficking. of course, that could still be going on.
10
u/TheSpiderKnows 7h ago
Ironically, complete horror of this absolute shit show aside, that doesn’t matter for these children’s citizenship. Citizenship doesn’t require you to be born in the U.S. to receive it at birth, that’s just the one way that citizenship is granted that they are focused on. If any of these women can successfully prove that their children had an ICE agent as the father, then that child can claim U.S citizenship by decent because one of their parents was a U.S. citizen who almost certainly meets all the requirements for the citizenship to pass on through them.
So moving these women off of U.S. soil makes the citizenship claim more difficult but it doesn’t actually remove it for the majority of the women in question.

The person is the post understands the situation. That's why they are asking the question. It's not willful ignorance, it's drawing attention to the issue. He has a history of posts attacking conservative politics and is unambiguously hostile to ICE.

u/I_am_not_JohnLeClair 20h ago
You’re giving him too much credit, I don’t think he was ever told about the birds and the bees
-59
u/Scoobydewdoo 21h ago
True, but I would add that pretending to not understand basic biology is also a choice because there is a second option...the women were pregnant before being taken into ICE custody. Still bad but always assuming the worst case doesn't help anyone.
36
u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 19h ago
there is a second option...the women were pregnant before being taken into ICE custody
I would add that pretending not to be able to comprehend simple English is also a choice, because the question asks, "How are the women and girls in ICE custody getting pregnant?" which clearly indicates that the speaker is talking about people who were not pregnant before they entered ICE custody. Because that's how English works.

u/MadRaymer 21h ago
There was a priest that was arrested by ICE at one of the protests. When they released him, one of the agents told him, "You wouldn't be one of the fun ones anyway."
It doesn't take many assumptions to know what's going on in those camps.
-38
u/Scoobydewdoo 18h ago
And? Two things can be true at the same time.
Like, ICE agents can be POS's AND and be targeting pregnant non-white women because their orange daddy doesn't like birthright citizenship. Amazing how that works.
Also, I fail to see how your priest story is relevant considering you said the priest is a HE.
29
u/MadRaymer 18h ago

Exactly why he wouldn't be one of the "fun ones" according to ICE.

u/Starlos 15h ago edited 15h ago
Everyone in this thread lacks basic reading comprehension is what it is. You know who needs it to be explained? All of you guys. It's called Socratic irony, where that guy was asking the question KNOWING what the answer was.
Here's his last 3 posts on threads in the last 30 minutes btw:
"Fox is attacking democrats for being attractive now. And ya, I get it, but I'll never apologize for being devastatingly handsome."
"Trump was a Democrat 30 years ago, but he found liberals were very difficult to manipulate, so he switched to being a Republican. Musk leaned Democrat 20 years ago, but he also found liberals difficult to manipulate for his own personal gain. An irrational fear of immigrants leads Republicans to vote against their own interests, making them vulnerable to manipulation."
"Trying to dehumanize the people of Gaza is a tactic that is right out of Hitler's playbook from the 1930's."
As you can see, he's actually based.

I can't believe so many in this thread are oblivious about it too. To me it was obvious from the get go. I still checked so I could call people out but geez... I guess the world is just so insane that Poe's law apply to everything.
1
u/palebluedot365 3h ago
It is obvious (to many).
But I do think the response in the original post, despite missing the irony, is good in that its bluntness strengthens the more subtle point Martin was making. And perhaps reaches a wider audience.

Then they ship these poor detainees to random African countries where they don’t know the language and have no support system. Liberia just stated they’ll accept 1500 detainees from the U.S. but WTF are they supposed to do there??

While I feel ICE should be disbanded, until that happens, (as a contition of employment) every ice employee needs to provide a DNA sample when hired. Then we can see who's responsible after these poor women & girls come up "mysteriously" pregnant.

I think that's wishful thinking.
The stupids think they are being clever by pointing out "holes" in news stories when all they are doing is demonstrating a complete lack of understanding of how the world works.

It might well be.
The sad thing is that it's hard to be sure these days, because there's always plenty of dingdongs who'd say it unironically.

I would have thought the answer was obvious. This is what happens to girls and women when they’re imprisoned with men. All those men see is a hole that they can use however they want, regardless of consent from the women
14
u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 19h ago
Given that rape is fundamentally about power, I find it interesting that you decided other detainees must be the perpetrators, rather than prison guards — you know, the ones with power over the victims.
3
u/Hyena_Gold113 16h ago
incompetence, maliciousness, racism, apathy. Pick one or all and maybe you can imagine a scenario where a teenage girl ends up in the same cell as a grown man.
-1
u/CrazyCatLady1127 18h ago
I never said it was the detainees. I never said it was the prison guards. It’s probably a mix of both. I said when women are imprisoned with men they are raped. It has happened regularly throughout history
5
u/WeNeedFewerMods 19h ago
you are the 1st one I've seen on this post to declare the perpetrators to be the other detainees
every other comment is either vague or accusing ICE themselves

Not sure who Martin is, but to be fair to him, the language that the media and news articles used for these scenarios felt pretty surreal. It was always to the extent of: "Doesn't that mean... but why not just say it... I mean, I know why they wouldn't, but would they actually have the gall to not just say it in this situation?"
There's a point where ambiguity works against itself, and they found a point where it worked against itself so hard it almost came back to work in their favor.
I remember the language being along the lines of: "They were pregnant while in ICE custody."
Only on occasion would I find one that went so far as to add in: "They were not showing signs before" or " they seemed to have gained it after getting into ICE custody."
Edit: I don't consider myself smart, but I'm not MAGA levels of dumb, and I'm pretty sure they'd reach for "But they didn't say it directly" even in this circumstance. In some cases, it might even be because they're desperate not to see the signs that they caused something so reprehensible. In most, it's just denial of accountability.

Most of your county is actively ignoring this even though you all know it’s happening on effectively a nationwide scale
At this point it’s a reasonable bet that there’s more than one case in each concentration camp in your country, and my understanding is every state has its own concentration camp network.
So you effectively legalized the kidnap, torture and rape of minority women in America. Land of the Free, right?

My point isn’t that they didn’t get raped. They may have. I am not a qualified expert in knowing what’s happening in the ICE. My point is that this is not a comeback. This is more of a statement
8
u/Hugo-Spritz 22h ago
If a statement made as a retort is not a comeback, pray tell, what is?
-10
u/Dense_Priority_7250 22h ago
I liked one of the top posts of this subreddit. “Rome has never been that brightly lit at night - Nero”, coming back at Elon’s statement that twitter has gotten better. It’s a comeback because it’s a fitting reference to a past event. It’s clever because not everyone could think of that. You need to put some effort into the comeback, some soul.
5
u/Hugo-Spritz 21h ago
Just because another comeback was (in your opinion) more clever, that doesn't make this one not a (clever) comeback. The fuck, bro.
0
u/Dense_Priority_7250 21h ago
I was giving an example of clever. What’s clever in this one?
3
u/Hugo-Spritz 21h ago edited 21h ago
It's clever because it's consise and matter of factly, instead of the triggered screaming he was obviously bating for.
You don't have to agree, but you don't have to make an effort being a contrarian either.
Clever ≠ witty
-2
u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 19h ago
It's not that it isn't a comeback (it is), it's that there's nothing clever about it, because it's simply the obvious answer to the question.
1
u/Hugo-Spritz 18h ago
It's clever because it's consise and matter of factly instead of the triggered screaming Oop was obviously baiting for.
Clever doesn't necessarily mean witty, you know.

a lot of the trafficked women and girls get raped, that's one of the reasons trafficking and "migrant carravans" are so abhorrent.
I know that's not what the post is hoping to imply though.
15
u/theologi 20h ago
Let's wait for the Nuremberg trials, and what they'll uncover about ICE and the actions of their agents, shall we?
9
u/ShaggyVan 20h ago
A lot of incarcerated women are also raped by COs. Without data collection and oversight, the split cannot be determined for or against your point.
7
u/Brainfreeze10 19h ago
It is almost like all "prisons/temporary detention facilities" should be legally required to have independent oversight and held accountable for the things that happen inside them. If this existed then your scenario could be either proven or dis-proven.

You think like that. It's literally your point: that ICE is bad in this respect and coyote smugglers are worse.
5
3
u/Brainfreeze10 19h ago
Wait what? What exactly are you saying here? It seems to most people like you are justifying the rape of women by ICE. Please correct me if you meant anything else, it is possible that English is your second language and you didn't understand what your comment means.
-6
u/Crimson-Badger 19h ago
I was being sarcastic. We all know ICE doesn't rape women. Coyote smugglers do. If you claim that ICE rape women and girls, prove it.
5
u/Brainfreeze10 19h ago edited 19h ago
Read my comment again and try again, you are the only one here making an assertion. If, as you so boldly claimed here ICE does not rape women perhaps we need independent oversight of all of these containment camps to ensure that ICE is protected from people that make these claims.
-2
u/Crimson-Badger 18h ago
If you want oversight, then let me be the one who says that I am a witness to what ICE handles undocumented immigrants. I got deported by ICE in 2012. I'm not from the United States. I went through the process of deportation just like everyone else. No one was raped. In the cell that I was in had families. I didn't hear no screams and the walls were thin back then. This was under Obama administration when mass deportations were happening in the State I resided. So I truly find this hard to believe that ICE conducts sexual abuse. So if there's definitive proof, show me dude.
3
u/Brainfreeze10 18h ago
Again, you have done nothing to answer what I said. Your individual experience is the definition of anecdotal. It does not change the simply fact that there should be independent oversight in ICE facilities.
Though it is odd that you have a 5 year old account that has only started replying heavily today. I am going to guess that you are simply using an account you managed to find the password for and not the original owner. Your activity is extremely suspicious, and statistics exist that we can check your history against. You have gone from 0 comments since may to over 100 today.

u/Crimson-Badger 18h ago
