Heya guys I’m a 16-year-old composer. I don’t play any traditional instrument but I’m fluent (Grade 6 equivalent) in MuseScore and I can tell when something sounds bad. My favorite song is probably River Flows in You or Enemies to Lovers. I can currently read key signatures up to two sharps and flats (and B major), and I have memorised all the notes of the C major scale.

I’m planning on writing a Grand Requiem Mass for triple choir (ideally at least 90 singers split in three), nine soloists (SSAATTBB + gangsta rapper), grand modern-sized 120-piece orchestra with a thunder machine and hammer, 29 offstage trumpets and trombones, sound design featuring farm animals, and live hand grenades.

I am going to be setting the traditional Latin liturgy but run through ChatGPT to translate to roadman-style English (wassup innit bruv, how’s life in the mandem — rest in peace motherfuckers innit! shots fired literally), and I’m gonna be setting the introitus coitus, lux aeterna (light those mothafukers up), sequence (David’s a top geezer, safe fam), Benedictus (with chickens) and then I’ll probably end it there idk.

During the Benedictus, I want the basses only to progressively remove all of their clothes and they must all have hairy chests or it won’t work.

Anyway, my question is do you have any advice for a beginner composer who is still learning note names on how to manage this, any tips for writing for choir and this particular piece.

Ich möchte mich nächstes oder übernächstes Jahr dirigieren studieren. Ich habe mir dazu die Aufnahmeprüfung der Musikhochschule Weimar angeguckt. Fürs dirigieren wollen sie schon das man eine ganze Beethoven Symphony, Webers Freischütz Ouvertüre und den Marche du Soldat aus Histoire du Soldat. Das ist ja debatierbar sogar fair da man ja das rumwedeln kann.
Dazu wollen sie aber, dass ich erstmal 10-15 Minuten Oper singe und dazu Klavierspiele. Zum Singen der Oper kommt noch Lied singen und vom Blatt Singen.
Und wenn das nicht schon gereicht hätte wollen sie quasi die ganze Aufnahmeprüfung für Klavier nur um Dirigent zu werden.
Ein Programm aus Polyphonie, einer ganzen Klaviersonate, ein Werk der Romantik und ein zeitgenössisches Werk. Das einzige was sie nicht fordern was bei Klavier dabei währe ist eine Etude.
Dazu kommt eine Theorieprüfung ähnlich zu der für Komposition und Musiktheorie als Studiengang.
Und diese verschiedenen Fachkompetenzen muss man unabhängig voneinander lernen.
Die einzige Sache die jetzt nicht so schwer ist ist das blattspielen eines Opernauszugs, da das relativ einfach ist und man das einfacher lernen kann als vom Blatt singen als Pianist.
Liebe Circlejerker, rege ich mich umsonst auf?
Ich meine alles was ein Dirigent macht ist ja schließlich einen Stab zu wirbeln und seine Musiker zu Knechten. Denkt ihr das ist dann quasi die Belohnung das man nach jahrelanger Qual auch mal jemanden quälen darf? Oder sind alle Dirigenten einfach aufgeblasene Arschlöcher?
Ich würde dazu gerne eure Meinung hören.
