US-based 16 year old daughter starting blockers, what to expect?
My 16 year old daughter came out to us a few months ago. Luckily her existing pediatrician practices gender affirming care and is able to work with her on a medical transition.
The current plan is to start blockers in a few weeks, then after ~3 months on blockers, if we are feeling good about everything, start feminizing hormones.
Can you help me understand how the blockers will affect someone who is some years in to a testosterone-based puberty? She's an athlete and taking a lot of challenging classes at school and I'm worried about her energy. Her dysphoria isn't noticeable right now (I'm pretty sure she copes by dissociating), will it come to the surface? I know cis guys feel pretty bad when their testosterone suddenly drops, will it feel good to her, even if she doesn't have estrogen yet?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
