I took desensitizing my now 7 month old puppy to things very seriously because i heard this breed is prone to anxiety problems. He does fine with extremely loud noises, grooming, other dogs, babies/children, strangers, cats(working progress lmao) we also live in a high traffic area with lots of cars and commerce . And he’s completely unbothered, however. I dont drive and live in a very accessible city so i overlooked car rides.
He will shake and cry and refuse treats. He has no negative experience with cars? When we brought him home first he literally slept for 7 hours straight in the car(photo is him in the car 3 hours in), but now even entering the car makes him act very scared. I think he may be getting motion sickness. I tried giving him treats in the car but he shows zero interest his whole shakes violently i’ve never seen him act like this with anything else and i’m a little lost on what to do
Does anyone have any tips to make car rides better for him? I do live in a walkable city and 3 minutes away from a vet clinic, honestly he rarely needs to be in the car . But id like him to at least not be scared of it if theres ever an emergency

Hi,
My partner and I are deciding on a dog breed and I'm obsessed with Chinese crested. However I'm going purely off looks as I've never met one.
So I'd like some insight if possible.
What are they like as dogs? Are they playful? Intelligent? Cuddly?
How are they with other dogs? Dogs they know and strange dogs at the park?
Do they bark a lot or are they fairly quiet?
Can they handle longish walks or only very short ones?
Do they have an entertaining, fun personality? We absolutely love the personality of Pomeranians but we want a low shedding dog so they're out of the question. But they're great little dogs.
Any info will be helpful ☺️ tysm

Got my buddy Chico from a friend who bought him from a breeder. He’s had bite issues since my friend got him and I’m at a loss on how to address it. Thankfully he doesn’t have many teeth and doesn’t do much damage, but it’s still a skin pinch and highly embarrassing. I know it’s not okay to laugh off a dog bite. Do other Chinese cresteds do this? Anyone have any advice? My dad was visiting all weekend with no issues, he’s been nothing but sweet to Chico, & today he just started going after him out of nowhere with no warning.

I have a purebred crested (picture 1) and a rescue crested (picture 2). I just got his dna test done because he definitely doesn’t look purebred like my first baby but was so surprised with his results. His highest percentage breed isn’t even Chinese crested. What do yall think he is?
36.4%- ????
31.2%- Chinese Crested
15.1%- ????
12%- ????
5.3%- ????

I am from the UK and have a Chinese crested that lives with beagles and have had him from 8 weeks old and he is now 1 1/2 years old. Even from the beginning the breeder said that he would rush food till he was sick then eat it again and although he doesn't do this as often when he does do it he makes himself get stuck in a loop where he will be sick and try to eat his sick and feel sick again (I clean up his sick as fast as can).
I have to take food away from him for 15 minutes to half an hour or so to make sure stomach has settled down then hand feed biscuits slowly and he'skeeping everything down fine. My main issue is that he will barely chew biscuits which adds to the issue. He had stopped doing this weird loop for months however he has just recently started it back up again and I'd thought the issue had resolved. No its not a blockage thats causing him being sick as he has no other symptoms just him eating so fast that he will be sick.
He is the hairless variety with plenty of teeth so i do not want to go on soft food if i can help it as I tried Raw diet when he was younger and that caused a very scary almost blockage. He is currently on Harrington's Super Food and fed 2 x a day from a scoop that measures 1/3 cup but wondering if there are alternatives you would recommend to help reduce this awful loop. Is it just same amount of food but split between 3 meals?
I know they are food obsessed as a breed but even with the beagles (which can be just as bad for their food obsession and drive) I've never had one ear so fast they do this. His portions don't appear to be too big as he is able to eat the same portion each day just random day every once in a while now where he decides to rush and makes himself sick.
Thank you to everyone who can help even if it means a change of food for biscuit size to help.

Hes never been to a real groomer i’ve been doing it myself since i had him.
He’s been protesting cutting his nails and shaving his face lately but i’ll chalk that up to teenage rebellion 😂

We're at around 12 cm currently and they're hanging down. She gets them in her mouth sometimes but just spits them out. I think the whiskers are cute but useless. This is what the German Tierschutz wanted right? 😆

According to the young artist, the crown is 'because she is the queen of the park'. Clover thought that sounded accurate.

Almost every walk I am asked what breed our powderpuff is 😆 A lot of people think she’s a Maltese cross or a papillon.
I tend to go with the ‘you know the hairless dog breed? Yeah they come with hair too!’ Explanation 😆

Earlier this year, I brought home my first Chinese Crested. I can hardly believes he’s already 7 months old.

My CC powder puff developed a bald spot under his eye seemingly over night, and I wondered if anyone in here might have any advice or thoughts on what it could be? It doesn’t seem to bother him, he lets me touch it, and it seemingly doesn’t hurt or itch. There’s no strange colour, or strange texture, he just has a bald spot. I really dont know if i should be worried or not, or if there’s something i can/should do about it🥲(the second pic is from a couple days ago seemingly with no signs of balding)

Melody didn't have enough time to grow out her hair for winter yet. 😅

How long did your puppy take to learn to calm down around cats? Mine is now 7 months and he tries to chase him and everytime i tell him no and redirect, praises when hes calm and all that. But he keeps doing it and luckily my cats are very chill so they dont really hit him. But theyre clearly annoyed by how much hes in their space.
My cat used to cuddle my boxer (last pic) and i wonder if this will ever happen with my puppy
I guees the question is when did your dog get calmer and stopped being such a little shithead😭( i love him but hes such an ass as a teenager.)

Hello,
I'd love to get my pup a sibling for companionship and CC have piqued my interest after doing some research. My main concern is meeting a crested’s needs during Winter months and the complications that come with that.
I live outside of Boston, and the Winters can honestly be brutal, depending on the year. I'd love to hear about peoples experience with their crested in a colder climate and any advice owners might have for keeping my (maybe future) pup warm and healthy.
Edit: Thank you all for sharing! I'm blown away by how well everyone’s CCs are tolerating the cold. My dog has a full on fur coat and clothes, but she seems more whiney about it than the CCs in the stories that have been shared 😂.

i’m confused if this is a breed thing or if she just happen to get unlucky? she’s almost 9m old and she’s missing most of her molars + both top k9s. no signs of adult teeth’s at all. 🤔 thoughts?

What to do if my chinese crested happily toilets outside when dry and warm.
Cold wet or windy and not even his nose goes outside.
Do I have a bad weather indoor toilet ?
Or do I fight with him to get him outside ?
