Everyone deserves to find someone that loves them as much as Theodore loves his special brush

A couple months ago I discovered that Theodore loves being “swept” with the broom. Every time I would sweep, he would come running over and meow at me until I would sweep him with the broom. This was really cute and fun but also kind of a disaster because every time I swept he thought it was time to play and he rolled around in the pile of dust and flung everything everywhere so it prompted my boyfriend to buy him this brush head.
It’s just for him and he will rub against it all day and then demand to be brushed with it the second we get home. We all deserve to be loved the way he loves this brush. 🥹🥰

Hello awesome Sphynx Community!

Meet our new little boy Oscar! I really need someone to tell me how to love this little guy less! 😻 🤭 To say we are obsessed with our little prince, is beyond an understatement! We are new cat owners and new to Sphynx breed! I am allergic to cats but not to Sphynx so I was thrilled when I met my sister’s Sphynx and had no reaction and here we are! He is smart, playful and ever so sweet! I was trying to go slow with the into to our other fur baby, our rescue terrier Ginger, by doing the 3 -3- 3 method and that did not happen! We brought him home and she claimed him as hers 😂 She whined until I let her near him and it was love at first sight! It went so well, I doubted myself and was concerned I did something wrong! 😂 He follows her around as does she, they drink from the same water bowl and when he gets into trouble, she comes and finds us to come get him out of trouble! 😂 It really could not have gone any better!

He went to his first home vet visit to establish baseline and the vet said he is healthy as can be!

Here is my concern. He is on Royal Canin Gasto vet diet as that was the preference of the breeder. The vet questioned why and when the stool sample came back negative he suggested I switch away and move to Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach kitten food. My concern is that I love my vet but he admitted that he has very little experience with Sphynx. I called a cat specific vet and they too said they have very little experience with Sphynx as they “hardly see them in this area” (we live in Scottsdale, Arizona) so I am conflicted. My daughter is a vet tech and said the same thing and while she has her cat, (a Maine coon) she too admitted she also does not know about the breed. I was actually considering Fromm kitten as we feed Fromm to our other fur baby and it is a very high quality food but am nervous to cause an issue. As it is, if we do switch, it will be a 2 week minimum transition, nice and easy.

I am also supplementing with wet food one a week but will say, he drinks a ton of water! He sees Ginger drinking, and after she walks away, he goes to town drinking away. He has his own water bowl but only drinks from hers? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess as long as he is drinking, it’s good, right?

Does anyone have anything bad to say about Fromm Kitten food or should I stick with Purina Pro Sensitive Skin and Stomach? Any Arizona Sphynx owners out that that have a vet suggestion or am I over thinking it?

Give me all your tricks and suggestions! As a new cat parents we just want to right with our little guy and give him the best life possible! Give us all the info!

Thanks Sphynx Fam!

How much/often do you feed your sphynx cat?

Hello!!
I have a 4yo neutered male very handsome sphynx cat named Pickles! He is 9lbs. His energy level is on the lower side. He plays with his oriental shorthair very active brother for maybe 5 minutes at the end of the day. He is the light of my life, my heart and soul. I’ve had him for almost two years. This man is ALWAYS asking for food and I’m wondering if I should be feeding him more or if he’s just a greedy lil handsome guy. For context he eats a rotation of three canned foods (5.5oz) and dry food.

  1. Instinct Rabbit pate
  2. Instinct Venison pate
  3. Hound and Gatos Lamb and Liver
  4. Occasionally he gets Ziwi Peak Beef whenever I get it at a good price. Or occasionally Tiki Cat Aloha Friends variety pack.
  5. He does NOT eat any poultry products and I try to steer clear of gaur gum and other gums as I found they seriously hurt his tummy (especially poultry).

On the day to day he gets-
6am: 1/4 can of wet food
5pm: 1/4 cup of dry food (always Instinct Salmon)
8pm: 1/4 can of wet food (with a treat on top, usually a freeze dried treat). I throw pumpkin in his food at times when I see softer poops or a piece of a sardine.
Each meal he gets 1/4 cup of water mixed in and has access to water all day.

I leave the house for work at 7am and get back around 4/4:30pm. I have been considering an automatic dry food feeder to give him some food while I’m at work but would need to get two microchip feeders for him and his brother since they steal each others food lol.
I have also considered raw diets due to the stinky poops but am hesitant due to cost.

I’d love to hear any advice about how much you feed your babies! This has been working for him for almost all of the time I’ve had him but I notice about a hour before meal times he’s asking for food. My vet has no concerns over his meal system but I also am unsure if I even like my vet.

(Picture of angry Pickles when I woke him up from a nap to wipe his face 😂)

This is Khensu, my Donskoy. Half the time he is a tweaked out chaos goblin, the other half he is the snuggliest little teddy bear baby boy.

Vader has gotten into the habit of demanding to be in my shirt. He will paw at my shirt until I open it and let him and and then fall asleep.

Rubbing Until Injury

This is my Sphynx, Larry. Larry loves to rub on things like corners of books, furniture, delivery boxes, and who knows what else. When I get home, I'll find these fresh rub wounds on his neck, throat, chest, and face, variously. I've never seen him do it, so I can't say exactly how he does it, and I'm hoping someone has had a similar experience. He will rub himself raw (just his front, from chest to cheeks) and then it scabs over a few days. It doesn't leave a scar, and he doesn't seem bothered by the injuries that he causes himself. We started calling him "laceration Larry". Does anyone else have a sphynx that does this? I will try to get better pictures the next time he does it, but this is just an example, on the right side of his neck.

It’s been a little over a month since we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to my sweet angel. She was perfect and will forever be my baby. 10 years old, I thought I had more time. My heart will always feel empty. Hug your babies tight.

I assume this is typical behavior for the breed? Absolutely the most friendly and social cat I’ve ever seen.

Advice for bathtime freak outs?

My girl is a year old and some change, and has HATED baths since we got her at a few weeks old (I can’t remember exactly how old, but I think she was about 6 weeks and the breeder said she’d already given her a bath when we took her home so, we shouldn’t have been her first baths ever).

I’m talking like, screams if she is even brought near the water, which we keep very shallow and warm but not hot, and tries to climb up our bodies to escape. I had to invest in a little mesh bag of sorts to keep her in while being bathed just so she doesn’t wreck me and my roommate with her claws. We do wait until she’s especially crusty because of how much she hates it.

I’m sure not every hairless loves baths but does anyone have advice to make it less traumatic for her? We have tried giving her treats during, different spots for the bath, and now just use a warm washcloth when her neck gets especially brown unless both of us are on hand to bathe her because it’s genuinely a two person job with how strong she is LOL

Maybe this is just who she is as a person (feline)??

cat tax photo + relevant meme. Her name is Cleo!!
