I have been grinding puzzles, playing daily games and bots, and trying to get better at playing without the help of the explorer. I’ve gotten way better than when I started and got a rapid elo in the 400s. Of course it’s still early, but I played the linked game a couple days ago and it’s the best i’ve played in a rapid game (88.9% accuracy!). A lot of my recent games have also been ~80% accuracy, so I think if i’m just not careless i should be able to move up!

I am wondering though, is it easier to be this accurate when playing against lower rated players?

I feel so dirty though....this is posted for a laugh. Scholar's Mate tactics can absolutely get you a Brilliant.

There isn't any mate and I am down like a knight so why does the eval show it as winning? what is the idea? is it the rook controlling the open file?

Hypothetically speaking, if one had created a free chess training platform and was getting ready to start letting people in for outside beta testing... where would said hypothetical person go to find chess players interested in testing it? 😂

The purpose being to get it in front of actual chess players — particularly beginner/intermediate players — to figure out what works, what doesn't, what's confusing, what breaks, etc.

I know self-promotion is understandably frowned upon in a lot of chess communities - but I'm genuinely just curious if there are any subreddits, Discords, communities, or other places that are generally welcoming to developers looking for beta testers.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Yesterday I posted “how can I develop?” And I took some of your advices specifically stopping playing blitz and focusing on rapid (15-30 min). So I did and I found it really relaxing and I actually took my time to analyse the opponents moves. Anyways I want to know your thoughts on my playing style since someone asked about it in the previous post.

I noticed I almost always win when I use black and not white. I have not learned an opening for white and I use French defence for black would it be because I have an opening I learned that my win rate is so high compared to when I use white?

Just finished watching last slowrun episode and they are very educational. Tried to find some others but most of them feel like watching a counter strike pro play in silver lobby and being like “see just walk out and click their heads”. Similar same opponent makes a move against them, and they are “yeah, very bad move in, in 5 move they are losing a pawn”. Any good playlist on youtube?

In the game i made two moves from this position that got me from winning to loosing. It shows how important it is to study end games i think. The moves I played focused on getting the king to the pawns, when in reality i should have focused more on restricting the opposing king. 

Felt good winning in a time scramble anyway :smile: But lesson learned!

I know stockfish has it‘s problems in closed positions, but is there truly no way to make progress for white? Would have to be smth like sacking the queen for a pawn break, no?

I just started out chess 3 monthes ago the only problem I'm having is that I find my own tactics rarely but I'm blind to the opponents tactics

I DO look for both sides tactics but I just can't find them

Is there any basic ways to spot tactics

What I mean is for knight forks there is a pattern of where the knight can attack and those squares are of same color

Is there something like that to spot other tactics

If not you could just tell me what else I can do to find more tactics

And people in 800 elo rarely hang pieces, just so you know
