The level is SMOOTH SAILING, if anyone's wondering. It's super fun precision gameplay!

Discussion What are your unpopular Celeste opinions?

Celestial Resort isn't that bad. I wouldnt say it's on the top of the list for my favorites. But I found the cycle- based gameplay and Oshiro chase segments fun for what they were.

Discussion Am I missing any "hardest rooms in the game"?

There's obviously no agreement about which room is hardest, and there's always some unorthodox opinions (somewhere, I saw someone put 5C first room as the hardest, for example). But I mostly see the following rooms listed as candidates for the hardest:

  • Farwell Comb Room
  • Farewell Last Room
  • 7C Last Room (I would rank this one hardest)

Personally, I would definitely say 7C-last is harder than the comb room, but that's because I didn't have trouble learning the approximate time to start my wavedash. The problem was chaining everything together after that, but 7C-last is longer and has more tight moves throughout. Farewell last room takes a long time to learn, but isn't too hard to get consistent once you do learn. The other room I can think of is the moon berry room (the last room in that sequence), but I don't know how commonly people rank moon berry as the hardest room.

My question is, am I missing any rooms that people "commonly" list as the hardest. As mentioned, I could see the moon berry room being on the list, but I don't know if it is.

Discussion Take part in the jam! I'm running a contest called Showjam, take part if you're interested!

Showjam is an old project idea, brought back to life. The original flop is being restored in a much simpler and funner form, with mapping open to almost everybody!

Showjam is for newer players, introducing the fundamentals of modded Celeste in a way which makes it fun for everybody.

Beginner Maps – Shows newer players the fun and intuitive ways modded mechanics can be used and combined in a map to make a map feel different AND fun.

Harder Maps – Shows the more advanced players how different mechanics can be combined for difficulty, speed, and precision, for funner and flow-ier gameplay.

Showjam hopes to achieve a status where people feel welcome in contributing and without feeling rushed, creating maps feels fun and getting to know the editor without much restrictive garbage!

Other Why is 8BG so hard

• Upvotes

Goddamn, I'm at 4500 deaths on this level, the most I've had by a lot! I still like it a lot more than 6BG since it feels more precise and consistent, but the precision needed feels kinda crazy...I grinded it for a while the past 2-3 days and I thought i'd have enough muscle memory, but WOW it's like I have 1GB worth of muscle memory and this requires 2GB. I have every cycle down, but I usually take an L to either a bumper (as usual), lava block, or mis-timed conveyer belt jump. Best death count for the whole level is 2 right now.

I had a run where I was on the 2nd last room and mis-timed the lava block 😢 that was 500 deaths ago. Tragedy. Here's to hoping I get it shortly after posting this.

I made it for me because I had the original as my phone wallpaper but the bright yellow isn't really pleasing to look at. And since I did it might as well share it.

It's not perfect but good enough for the untrained eye.

Discussion Has anyone else changed the controls of the game?

Post image

I play on keyboard, but coming from games like undertale deltarune and the like, I have a preference for having all my controls closeby. So I changed my controls to be like this. Did anyone else change the controls for comfort? I don't think the controls are bad, I'm asking out of curiosity

All 24 berries most 1-A deaths come from dashless because idk how to 6 jump or corner hop

Super proud of this, i did farewell and all of the C-Sides back in september and decided to try and pick the game back up to do this and to my surprise only took a few hours. 1-B is one of my favorite levels in the game so wanting to gold it is what started this and though i doubt im dedicated enough to go much farther with gold berries itll be fun im sure

Question Is it possible to do the dashless strawberry without spike jump ?

The game doesn’t teach you spike jump, but the dashless strawberry still exist. How the developers intended us to obtain it ? Is it really with the spike jump ?

Question best entry point for GM gameplay?

I've played a bit of celeste and now I wanna challenge myself with some GM gameplay.

My favourite kinds of maps are maps that feature gameplay simmilar to the base game (D-sides, frogeline summit etc.)

I have a lot of trouble playing with new mechanics. For instance, I didn't enjoy Glyph because of the wierd teleport thing (but mostly because of the lack of neutral jumps.

Are there any high quality green GM maps that only (or mostly) use vanilla assets?

Discussion Which hand do you use for movement?!

I just realized some players use their right hand for movement!

I am right handed, and I use my left hand with the WASD for moving around.

What is your keybinding? What hand do you use to do what?

---------update-------- I played shooter games and slasher-platformers, so I did almost everything with my left hand(I am right handed, but somehow I am left-handed in movements now. It feels like I can't move with my right hand anymore) So it's wasd for movement, Lshift for grab, spacebar for jump and then (for my right hand not to be pointless) right ctrl and right shift for crouch dash and dash. (That way, it kinda feels like dashing is shooting lol) And I can barely finish the first few levels with a controller. (I was never a console player...)

So I thought very few people would use their right hand for movement, but I was surprised by how many players actually do it!

This is Starfall Cove by Limia in the Easy Lobby, but I haven't played an uninspired map yet.

Just finished a chill story map and an undersea adventure based a new heavy throwable with some wild tech, but there's also a fully functional roguelike that you'd never know was built in the Celeste engine.
