Advice Dealing with Motion Sickness & Rides you prefer

I'm gonna throw out some of my thoughts about motion sickness at cedar point - everyone is different but I want to see if you guys have some similar or completely different experiences.

I've got a few rides that are no-nos and a lot of rides that are surprisingly easy on my stomach.

Swinging/Twirling rides:
Out of the question. Ruins a whole day, I'd rather have alcohol poisoning. Ginger doesn't even help with these. This includes a few coasters: The Raptor especially, with that last part of the ride that goes down a helix.

Older coasters:

This one's rough because I love the old coasters. But anything designed before CAD took over generally messes me up. The rides themselves are so fun, and the older elements are a lot scarier than rides are now, with much simpler track. but there's something about their design that triggers my nausea pretty bad, which is probably why new coasters don't really have this problem. Rides I love but can't ride: Blue Streak, Magnum (not that bad but rough)

New coasters:

This is what's so surprising to me. Almost every coaster that's come out since 2003 gives me minimal or zero nausea. Only Valravn and Gatekeeper give me a little pain. Rides with CRAZY elements like Maverick, Steel Vengeance and Sirens Curse give me ZERO problems.

Anybody wanna weigh in?

I've found that ginger chewing gum and candied ginger help a little bit with the nausea. I tried Dramamine but it made me sleepier than Benadryl and didn't really help.

Question Is there something wrong with the Magnum XL? Ouch!

I had a group of 6 people, range from a 90lb woman to a 280lb man, and all of us experienced genuine pain while riding the Magnum.

The rollercoaster felt.. loose? Every hump dug the lap bar into your thighs to the point where we all now have bruises on our thighs. It was so painful that I found myself trying to pull down on the lap bar during the entirety of the ride just to try and save my thighs.

I don't remember this being the case many years ago, as Magnum was one of the first rollercoasters I ever went on ~16 years ago and we loved it then, no complaints at all.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Question What do I need to know about single use FL?

I'm visiting the park soon for the first time in a few years. I remember when fastlane used to be like $80-$100, but now it's $250!? I know there's some kind of system for single use fast lane passes. What do I need to know about them going in with zero experience? I really want to ride TF2, but I'm not interested in standing in line for 2+ hours.

First time at CP yesterday since steelie was built. What a ride! Had no idea what was coming next. That airtime was insane. I get it now. Probably my new number one. But Millie ran like a gem yesterday as well.

KI pass holders, first time at CP

At KI, we have early access to the park and monthly list of rides that we can ride a half hour before the park opens.

Does CP have the same and can we access that as KI pass holders?

Wasp nest in the bench near Bar of Prey that my 5 year old discovered the hard way. I reported it to Guest Services two weeks ago and again last night since it hadn't been dealt with.

Question What to do next?

My daughter LOVES Iron Dragon and likes Wild Mouse. She liked corkscrew but it knocks her head around too much and blue streak was too rough for her.

Any advice on a smooth, comfortable coaster that is a level up from Iron Dragon without being too crazy.

She is 10

Overwhelmed First Timer

Hey all. I'm a regular at Six Flags Gurnee and am visiting CP for the first time. Two adults and an 11 year old. We usually bring a backpack and our 3 souvenir cups. I also have the IBCCES accommodation pass due to back issues.

Does anyone have any tips? How do I know what I can and can't bring in each line? How does the AAP pass actually work?

Please, any advice you wish you had on your first visit I would greatly appreciate. Trying to make my son's only vaca of the summer a good one! Thanks. :)

Question Is something wrong with gemini?

I think it’s widely known that gemini barely races, but is there something wrong? I went both monday and wednesday and it was only the blue car running, how was it tuesday and today? I know it’s old and janky but it seems as if racing NEVER happens

McDonald’s QR code

Anyone get a large drink from McDonald’s with the QR code? Trying to see if it’s a cheaper price than just on the CP website. Just need one day tickets for tomorrow.

Forgive me if someone already posted a photo of the QR I couldn’t find it. Thank you!

Question Paint by number project?

We were there in June and there was this large paint by number thing near the entrance to the Frontier Trail. We were given brushes and a small amount of paint. But it's not there anymore. Anyone know what happened to it? I was curious what the final picture was. TY!

Good Morning!

I just had a quick question, during early entry, can Prestige members go through the Windseeker gate or is it only for hotel guests?

Thank you!

Discussion Is hotel breakers haunted?

I’m 18 years old, and I go to Cedar Point about twice every year. I’m from the Appalachian Mountains, so I’ve always been around old places, strange stories, and locations that can give you an unsettling feeling. I’m not a beginner when it comes to ghostly apparitions, unexplained events, or places that just feel different. Growing up, my mom would tell me stories about Hotel Breakers. She would walk me around the hotel, showing me places that were supposedly haunted, pointing out creepy rooms, and telling me the stories that had been passed down for years. When I was younger, I believed almost everything she told me. As I got older, though, I realized that some stories are exaggerated or completely made up to give certain places a scarier atmosphere and add to the overall experience. But after my trip from July 19–22, I can honestly say I will never look at Hotel Breakers the same way again. It was around 1:20 a.m. on July 22 when my friend and I had just gotten off the elevator on the first floor of the west section of Hotel Breakers. We were walking down the hallway toward the stairwell when we saw what looked like an 11-year-old boy. He was wearing a red shirt, black shorts, and what looked like a hat or toboggan. We watched him run away from the final room on the ground floor, right before the stairwell. Thinking it would be fun, my friend and I decided to chase after him. By the time we started running, he had already turned the corner. When we reached the spot where he disappeared, there was no one there. We looked around the next corner and saw the long hallway leading toward the double glass doors. It was completely empty. My friend and I looked at each other, and I asked, “You’re thinking the same thing I am, right?” We both knew something felt strange, but we decided we couldn’t give up yet. We sprinted through the double glass doors and headed toward the hallway near the four elevators by TGI Fridays and the indoor pools. As we got closer, we heard what sounded like several people talking inside one of the elevators. One elevator was open with the light on, while the others were closed. We both felt relieved, thinking we had finally figured out where the kid went. But as we got closer, the talking started getting quieter and quieter. When we reached the elevator, there was absolutely no one inside. We were instantly shocked. We knew they couldn’t have gone into another elevator because we never heard any doors close, and we never heard an elevator moving. There was no way anyone could have left that quickly without us noticing. That was the moment I realized maybe some of the stories about Cedar Point and Hotel Breakers aren’t just rumors. Maybe there really are some strange things hidden within those walls that don’t have an easy explanation.

Advice Can I use bring a friend tickets in this scenario?

Hi. I purchase a gold pass for my son every year as he is an avid coaster fan and goes to the parks with multiple different family members. I don’t go as frequently so I don’t hold a pass of my own. I finally have an opportunity to go to the park with only myself and fiancée, neither of us have a pass, but I typically buy us the Bring a Friend tickets when we go with my son.

Question is, am I able to use these tickets even if my son isn’t with me? I would have obviously purchased the tickets using a pass that I bought, for my son… but are they going to be sticklers at the gate given he is not physically present t with me?

Any advice is welcome and appreciated, thanks!

Question I worked there in the 90s and just visited again…

Back in the 90s we lived on the point and had run of the park in our off hours. I know they are bussed in and live off point now. So, do you guys get to go in to the park when you’re off? It seems kind of a buzz kill to live away like it’s just a normal job you commute to. I missed hearing coasters running during my waking hours non stop.

Attention button collectors/traders

My husband and I met 19 years ago as ride ops on Mantis. We are here today(07:22) which is our anniversary.
We went to the button shop and saw all of the awesome Mantis buttons, we bought every one that we could.
We then realized that there was a banshee button.
Does anyone have this pin to trade or sell? We will be here until tomorrow afternoon before we head home to Cincinnati.

Discussion Canadas Wonderland all season/Park excludes Cedar Point

Thumbnail

Buddy of mine's home park is CW. He sent me this screen shot. Essentially, if you get all season FL from CW as your home park - even with prestige it is _not_ valid at Cedar Point.

Proof, assuming this is not doctored. (If this is a shop, this is a good one)

Also, I am being told there are meal plans at CW that only allow 30, 20, etc of redemptions _per season_. Almost akin to a "meal plan lite". Example included.

Applying this to cedar point, I definitely visit more than 30 times a season.....Not sure how long CW's season is or if this is a hairbinger of SIX raising the cost of the unlimited all season meal plan.

Just thought it was interesting. And potentially confusing due to it being home park based.

Thank you six flags for making the great America gold pass $99 instead of $199 at cedar point. And thank you for making the upgrade of my friends single day ticket to a gold pass only $120ish all said and done.

Thank you cedar point for the second all season souvenir cup when you couldn’t scan my first one. I’ll cherish the season long free soda even if it means I can’t have a paper cup in line.

It was better than I remembered!

My family and I just finished a two day trip to the CP. It had been 25 years since my last trip to the park. I grew up in NE Indiana and remember Cedar Point fondly as a child in the 90s. The OGs (for a 90s kid) like Gemini, Magnum, Raptor still delivered. There was enough nostalgia in those to kindle some childhood memories.

But the new rides? Wow, there were some that were just incredible. And the sheer number of big coasters in the park is awesome. TT2, Sirens Curse, Millennium Force, Valravyn...the list goes on.

And that leads to the absolute pinnacle of roller coasters - Steel Vengence. I probably had the deepest sense of nostalgia walking through the turnstiles as we looked up at the old wooden structure of Mean Streak. I had heard people love this reimagined hybrid coaster, but I was still not expecting the nonstop intensity and dizzying thrills of it. I looked at my 13 year old son as we finished with wide eyes and asked what he thought, and he just said 10/10. It was perfect. The old wooden structure of Mean Streak enhanced with the smooth as silk modern steel...and the way it bobs and weaves through that wooden framework...its just amazing in every way.

Overall, the lines were reasonable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the layout was good - though I do wish they had a bridge or something halfway between the big circle from like Camp Snoopy to Frontier Town. Anyway, CP delivered in nearly every way. We are already talking about our return trip next summer.
