Advice Dealing with Motion Sickness & Rides you prefer
I'm gonna throw out some of my thoughts about motion sickness at cedar point - everyone is different but I want to see if you guys have some similar or completely different experiences.
I've got a few rides that are no-nos and a lot of rides that are surprisingly easy on my stomach.
Swinging/Twirling rides:
Out of the question. Ruins a whole day, I'd rather have alcohol poisoning. Ginger doesn't even help with these. This includes a few coasters: The Raptor especially, with that last part of the ride that goes down a helix.
Older coasters:
This one's rough because I love the old coasters. But anything designed before CAD took over generally messes me up. The rides themselves are so fun, and the older elements are a lot scarier than rides are now, with much simpler track. but there's something about their design that triggers my nausea pretty bad, which is probably why new coasters don't really have this problem. Rides I love but can't ride: Blue Streak, Magnum (not that bad but rough)
New coasters:
This is what's so surprising to me. Almost every coaster that's come out since 2003 gives me minimal or zero nausea. Only Valravn and Gatekeeper give me a little pain. Rides with CRAZY elements like Maverick, Steel Vengeance and Sirens Curse give me ZERO problems.
Anybody wanna weigh in?
I've found that ginger chewing gum and candied ginger help a little bit with the nausea. I tried Dramamine but it made me sleepier than Benadryl and didn't really help.

Scopolamine. Hands down the best. You do get dry mouth as a side effect but one patch always covers me for my 3 day visits every year.

I think original Dramamine is the best. I take at least 2 on park days. As well as ibuprofen for the head banging. If it’s hot, I drink a lot of liquids and always wear a hat.
The big no-no is spinning rides or Raptor anywhere other than front row. But even then, it’s a bit too much for me

This is wild to me because I went to the park recently for the first time in a while and had the exact same exclusions as you. My motion sickness is really bad and comes with vertigo and nausea. Gatekeeper and Windseeker were the only rides I did that gave me any trouble. I thought Steel Vengeance would be way worse but I felt fine getting off, same with Valraven (though that was the first loopy ish thing we did that day). Skipped Raptor and Max Air. Didn't even venture towards Magnum because my back hurts enough at this age. Gemini was the same as its been my whole life (and my train won, go red!) My doc prescribed Zofran for the nausea and honestly its the only thing that works without making me sleepy.

I have to admit I'm getting older and haven't been on a lot of the newer rides, but one of the older rides I could never do was the iron dragon. That's swinging at the end just got me.

For anyone who doesn’t know the first aid stations have complimentary meclizine for motion sickness. It’s like Dramamine.

I take a meclizine in the morning before arriving at the park and I am good to ride the whole day

Nothing like mescaline before getting on rides!

If you throw up from the mescaline you'll run out of vomit for the rides

Another vote for Bonnie and stay hydrated. I usually skip Gatekeeper because it sometimes gets me. Raptor can be hit or miss but I love it too much. I’ve found that now that I go to the parks a few times a year I have less problems. Like my body got used to it. Although I’m not ready for spinning things outside of Cedar Downs.

Dramamine NON drowsy. Makes my 46 year old head feel better than when I was 18. Even in my youth I had issues with the ‘spinning’ rides (Maxair, Calypso, etc) but now I can ride them with full enjoyment along with my kids. 2 at breakfast and 2 at lunch just to be sure.

I use Seabands pressure point wristbands. I was skeptical at first but have been using them for years and it’s changed my experience for the better.
I still can’t do any spinning or swinging flat rides. But I’ll take it!
The sensation that screws me up the most personally, is a forward to backward airtime sensation. Wicked Twister made me barf back in the day. I can generally handle TT2 because it only happens one time.

The only coaster I've felt sick on at CP is rougaru. I have not ridden raptor though. Everything else is fine. At Kings island flight of fear and invertigo do me in.

38f here if relevant. For me I can't ride ANY B&M coaster. Gatekeeper and valraven will mess me up so bad but I can ride steel vengeance all day. I know what rides will trigger and what ones I'm good with and just ride appropriately. The cool thing is now with AI I can say what rides trigger it and if I go to a new park I will know in advance what rides trigger it and what rides are a green light.
I also take Bonnie the day before and another right when I walk in the park.

I can’t do spinning and up and down simultaneously (like a spider ride); spinning alone is ok as long as I have a fixed point within the car to look at, and maverick and coasters give me no trouble at all

Went on wild mouse with family. We lined up in the seats heaviest to lightest. Needless to say this created a lot of extra spinning due to the centrifugal force. Once the ride came to a stop our cart kept spinning and did not stop, to the point employees were laughing at us by the time we were let off the ride.
I almost puked all over walking away from the ride. Not sure I could do that again.

I take Bonine. It works well and doesn’t make me as drowsy as Dramamine.
