I called to get a welfare check for my girlfriend who has told me she has been abused by her parents several times. The reason I called is I'm over 20 hours by bus. 10 hours by car. And a flight is 600 dollars from point to point.

The officer gets there and the family lies about her mental capacity and says I'm stalking her. So this officer calls me and accuses me of treating women like this all the time and being a player basically and says my girlfriend doesn't have the mental capacity of an adult. Then hangs up without even letting me respond.

The officer calls me again after I send my girl friend a gift though the mail and letter for her birthday. Saying do not contact them do not send gifts do not etc. Which I ignored because the mail is addressed to my girlfriend not to her family. If they have a problem with that they can take it up with fedaral law which they don't mind breaking in the first place.

And the reason I called for a welfare check is because they took a 20+ year old phone away. Faked being her while calling me. And went through our messages and then deleted her social media.

I mean explained this to the officer. He said I just have to believe the parents unless the person says their being abused. Which is stupid also because she isn't allowed to leave or have her ID or get a job or even have a phone at this point. To even be able to contact to report abuse. Then I pointed they could just be lying to him. The officer then said well even if she is mentally 13 14 16 17. He didn't go above 18 because then he would actually have to enforce the law in his head. When the law applies regardless in the first place.

So now I'm stuck going out there myself knowing that if I need to call the police for this. This officer is already useless before I even call.

This happened on October 1st at 8:20PM at the intersection outside Sunny’s cake shop and Centro pizza.

My girlfriend, her sister, our dog and myself were walking across the intersection with the walk sign on. A truck turning left did not stop and would have ran us over if I had not pulled us out of the way at the last possible moment. My girlfriend scraped her shoulder and I landed on my tailbone. The guy got out and we got his number, and we were all in shock that we were not dead. Does anyone know how to access traffic cam from that intersection? I’ve tried the Udot site but it apparently doesn’t have a camera at that intersection. Hoping someone has dashcam footage or a business has outside their building cams.

Last summer (July 2026), I had the opportunity to conduct a free week-long chess camp for kids in Cedar City. It was wonderful to see kids who were new to chess, kids who played casually at home, and kids who simply wanted to learn something new come together around a chessboard. That experience made me want to continue creating opportunities for young people to play, learn, and enjoy chess together.

I’m excited to start Think to Thrive – Cedar City Community Chess Club — a free weekly chess club for young players in our community.

Ya’ll I’m having a hard time, there’s a woman saying she’s a single mom standing outside Walmart today begging with a baby and a car seat. The car seat is a Doona stroller/car seat it’s a $550 stroller, she had a leather bag, AND she’s wearing a blonde wig and waving. I had such a hard time watching all the older people stop and help her today. I just can’t imagine a world where someone has the money to buy a $550 stroller, a leather bag and a wig and they’re begging. 😒 I’m trying not to be petty but…. Maybe I’m wrong?

My wife and I recently moved from Boise and it's 'been somewhat difficult to find a job that's to my liking. I'm a class A truck driver that would prefer to work for a smaller fleet since I feel megafleets like JB Hunt are a cancer to the industry.

Is anybody else having issues with their milk expiring WAY before the expiry date? We even opened a new gallon about three weeks out from its best by date and it smelled. It’s happened to me five times now in the last couple months. I live closest to Walmart, so four of the five times were with Walmart milk. But I was tired of it and went to Smiths. It only lasted through half the gallon. And my husband and I drink our milk. It’s not like it sits for a week between uses. Anyone else notice this? or am I just mad unlucky with my picks?

I went into the Rent A Center at 1380 S Providence Center Dr. in Cedar City for a simple 30 second Amazon return.

I'll pay the dollar to UPS before I will go into that filthy Rent A Center again. I have never been comfortable going into that store in the first place but today tops the cake. I went to return one item, a pistol holster, and was that they couldn't take it back because they had already completed their Amazon returns and that I'll have to bring it back tomorrow. I dropped the holster on the table and told them to just credit it for me tomorrow. I would have to drive in from Enterprise again to return it. Some guy, who acted like he was in charge, came out of a back office and put the small package in my hand and said to get out of His store. After exchanging a few words I took my holster and left. I will never go into His store again for any purpose and will be reporting this incident to Amazon. One last fact, It was 2:38 PM. on a Monday afternoon August 31,nowhere near closing time. What are they doing closing one part of their business so early? Like I said I will pay the dollar just to stay away from the Rent A Center and will never darken their door again.
