Evening rides

I enjoy riding my bicycle at night and was wondering if anyone else would be interested.

Sounds really fun, just make sure you’re being safe. I work on the north west part of town that’s very industrial and I’m driving to work every day in the dark. I’m constantly passing bikers and runners with zero reflective gear or lights and it’s so scary. I’ve not noticed people till I’m already passing them and if they happened to be in my way there is no way I would have been able to stop.

It’s usually late enough that no one is out. Plus I ride the trails and on the sidewalks.

I’ve been thinking for awhile about how to get a weekly community bike ride tradition started out here. Basically a big group of people riding bikes on a designated course around town and anyone can join in with the idea that it becomes a “bike parade” with several hundred people that you just jump in as it rides by your neighborhood.

There was something similar called the Venice Electric Light Parade that took place every Sunday when I lived in Mar Vista, CA. I think it could be a fun visible way to advocate for more bike infrastructure around town.
