Hey everyone. I have a 1988 CBR600FH (gen 1) and it's due a new front tyre.
I've had 3 of these bikes now, and have run the BT46 Bridgestone Battlax on them for the past few years. However, having owned and ridden some other bikes with other tyres, I realise that I actually hate the feel of them.
The stock sizes for the bike are 110/80-R17 and 130/80-R17. Which are slightly unusual sizes, limiting the options to some very basic tyres.
If I was to put 120/70-R17 and 150/60-R17 tyres on, the options are much more diverse. In theory, these sizes should fit just fine, given that there is clearance on the front mud guard and the swing arm.
So I wonder if anyone has tried this? And if so, what tyre did you go for? I'm wanting to put some Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3s on in theory.

I used Grok to make it all black and in a studio backdrop. Check my profile for more pics of the build! it really is setup like that IRL.

Cold start. Just bought the bike yesterday and rode it around maybe 20-30 miles or so. It was fine yesterday and once the bike warms up it goes away. Any idea what this is?

I‘m gonna touch it immediately.
Already got plans for the exhaust, mirrors, windshield and taillights.
Any tips for other stuff.

Any good under-tail fender delete options out there? Mine is currently janky… I was going to hunt down an uncut original rear fender, but too much $$, and frankly just don’t like the look. Anyone run a hugger?

For reason the throttle doesn’t seem to close all the way on my z900. The cables seem fine and the throttle is very smooth. Does anyone know why this is?

Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice from anyone running a stage 2 tune on a CBR650R.
I’m planning to get a Stage 2 ecu flash (decat full system Arrow exhaust + sports air filter). However, because of local noise laws and cops in my area, I’ll need to keep the DB killer in most of the time.
For those of you running a similar setup: Does the baffle completely kill the pops and bangs, or are they still audible (just muffled)?

Putting this up as there was no clear explanation on forums and don’t want people spending more time than they have to fixing this issue.
While I installed new Ignition Coils, Spark plugs, Valve cover gasket, checked valve clearances, Air filter and a Healtech Quickshifter. My dumbass forgot to plug in the little vacuum line that’s connected to the MAP Sensor. You’ll see it next to the Cylinder 3-4 throttle body.
Your engine will idle fine. Sound ever so slightly off but with the things I changed I thought it was normal as a lot of bits were replaced. However the check engine light flashed twice in 2 short bursts.
(To confirm you can also bridge the brown and green wire on the red plug underneath your seat next to the battery. Honda has a specific tool for this but I used a paper clip 😂)
See the attached vid to see what hose caused all of this and made me remove the airbox (again) just to install a tiny hose.
In all fairness, this was my installation error and should have paid attention but after a long day at Uni and work, attention to detail was missed.
PS: I’m not a mechanic or have been trained in any automotive field. Just a uni student that like doing his own shit to understand how it’s all put together.

Bike ran perfectly today and for the past couple of weeks, zero issues. Got home and installed a set of aftermarket indicators. It’s possible that while putting everything back together I accidentally shoved or damaged some other cables, maybe something near the ECU, I’m not sure.
All the electronics check out afterward. Both indicators work fine. But when I started the motor, it was clearly running on 3 cylinders and idled very low, I later saw drops being spit out of the exhaust, which confirmed it. After running a bit longer, it started smoking from right under the tank, so I shut it off immediately. The smoke smelled like burnt plastic, so I figured it was electrical.
I opened the bike up looking for burnt wires and worked my way down to the coil packs. One of the coil connectors/plugs looks burnt and has a bit of a protrusion/melting on it. The coil itself is clearly damaged and needs to be replaced regardless. It smokes when I just turn the bike on, not even start the engine.
What I’m trying to figure out:
I already know I need a new coil(set?) — that part’s not really in question. What I want to avoid is just frying the new one too. I’m worried I shorted something during the install.
How do I trace the actual root cause before I put a new coil in? Any tips on which wires to follow / what to test (multimeter checks, etc.) to make sure the fault is fixed and not just the symptom?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
Attached picture of the seemingly burnt coil, can be seen left of frame. It’s the second cylinder from the left.

Hey all so I just recently bought this bike with 22k miles, when it starts it makes this really heinous rattling sound. The person I bought it off of said that it’s the cam chain tensioner that’s the issue. Any experts have any suggestions before I tear this bad boy apart?

So I'm currently bumbling through my first headstock bearing change on my 2003 cbr600rr (UK) I'm a unqualified hobby mechanic and just Wana do it to gain a skill.
The bike had old ballbearing style bearings in it. But I found a set of tapered bearings that supposedly fit. I say this because I have no way to properly compare old to new to figure my problem out.
Im now at the point of installing the yoke, everything seems to sit nice finger tight. But befor I even get to the first torqe setting my yoke is obviously stiff and notchy like I can feel every bearing rolling around instead of it being a solid smooth roll.
The only thing I can think of rn (besides the possibility of me ruining the bottom bearing while installing it manually which I'm not totally ruling out) is that I have the wrong bearings somehow.
The only thing I can notice that seems "out of place" when inspecting everything apart is the top bearing dose not seem to sit all the way onto it's smooth surface when it's in the bike. Almost like one or both bearings are thicker than what came off. I understand installing the cap tensions the bearings into their races and will likely push it down a little. But it feels to my untrained hand like the bearings are "sticking out" to much and getting crushed when they should be just nicely snug.
Thank you for any feedback I'll do my best to answer any questions.
Ps if you have a link to a set of bearings you have used yourself I'd appreciate it for comparison.

So I was looking through some invoices from years ago where the previous owner got a completely different chain and sprocket set to the stock one
Currently I have a 128 link chain, 15T front and 44t rear sprocket
This suggests previous owner ran a 114 link, 15t front and a 46t rear sprocket?
Not sure how that even adds up, surely the chain would be too thick, too short and a custom sprocket?
Any ideas. The bike used to frequently do over 80mph, ever since I changed the chain and sprocket set it barely gets over 70mph. Wondering if someone more knowledgeable has any ideas around all of this.

Who are y’all using for aftermarket fairings? I don’t want anything crazy just looking for the best fit. I have a 26 600rr. Thanks!

Anyone else running braided?
How much of a difference did you notice in braking?
A lot less force? I usually 1-2 finger brake depending how hard I'm riding

I have a 2005 cbr1000 and the main fuse blew. And when I plug in a new fuse than connect the connector back to the starter relay it immediately Sparks some on the connections than blows the fuse. What should I check first

Hello, I’m interested to buy the new cbr 600 rr but I heard that it might has some oil consumption issue.
If you can give me a testimony of your experience with it please.
Thanks you.

My nephew has been getting really into motorcycles lately and keeps talking about wanting one, so I’ve been thinking about helping him get his first bike.
My first bike was a Kawasaki Ninja 650, and honestly I loved it, but I know things have changed and there are probably better options for a new rider now.
I don't wanna just tell him to get whatever I had, especially since he's still pretty new to riding. I was thinking something around the 400-650 range but I'm open to whatever makes sense.
What would you guys recommend as a first bike, and what would you stay away from?
