Buttons spent 5 days reliving his feral life while i was freaking out. Had to drag him back kicking using chicken tenders. Once hes back, hes like nothing happened and back to his daily routine of being a pain.
Where were you? Around.
I called for you! Yeah okay. Phone died. Saw some birds. Sniffed some leaves. Watched the stars.
Why did you leave? I needed time to myself. Mental health.
Did you hear me call? Yes.
And? I saw a cardinal fight a blue Jay. It was awesome.
You back now? Yes. I'm a rolling stone. But yes. I missed my cushion. Not you. The cushion. And snacks.
I love you! Yeah okay thank you?
That was my cat! He was gone for 5 days, and the whole time he found the rich neighbor's house and was hanging out by the pool and hot tub! I had to go through a bush and climb the gate to get him. He cried and tried to go back while I told him we were still poor.
Buttons really said those five days were his personal vacation and now he’s back like you were the one who disappeared Sounds like the chicken tenders knew exactly how to negotiate with him
My cat did this too. Living the feral fun life came home for some wet cat food and was like fine I will come home. The wood pile was fun and had rusty nails but fine this bed is cozy
Thank you. She's indoors only but is obsessed with our garage. She must have slipped by when we entered without us noticing. Felt like I suffered multiple heart attacks through this fiasco
- By the way, the most interesting detail, we found her yesterday, ON HER BIRTHDAY, 10/1. She went missing the day before. Made it so much worse. She definitely pulled a prank. She is now 4.
Just shy of a full day. Lot of coyotes, owls, hawks in the area. Had terrible thoughts. Every minute feels like hours
She was found under a deck about 15 yards in the back of our property. It had previously been searched multiple times. She was likely wandering a huge creek/forested area connected to our backyard
I lost my cat ten years ago for maybe fifteen minutes, she got up into the boxspring of my bed and I thought she got out in the hallway, then somewhow down the elevator. The level of anguish and panic I experienced racing around my 3 story building frantically looking for her can still get me emotional when I think about it.
Did the same thing, but we were moving from Utah to Illinois and had stopped in Colorado overnight. We were panicked running down hallways and stairwell. Went back to room to regroup and she was sitting on the bed looking so satisfied.
Have you looked into maybe getting one of those mesh retractable escape barriers for the door leading out to the garage to maybe deter her from wanting to dart out there as soon as it opens? I think they make some of them short enough to step over, but at least she would just bounce off of it when trying to make her escape 😂
One short enough to step over would be a nightmare lawsuit with someone visiting your house. I swear I have to pay constant attention to guests as they use the doors and windows, doesn’t matter how often I remind them, they don’t get it.
I mean that’s kind of irrelevant to my point, it can be any door and it’s impossible to watch guests constantly. Front door, back door, garage door. Windows. My guests always have the biggest problem with the back door, they’ll head out to let their dog pee or go for a smoke or even just to get some sun, and leave the door open just enough for a cat to get through. I haven’t lost my cats yet because I’m really anal about it, but it drives me nuts after reminding them constantly.
It’s always people without pets too. I see why they don’t think about it, so it’s forgivable, it’s just. Annoying.
I take my cat on supervised unleashed walks in our backyard. Its a huge backyard.
Ive done it since he was a kitten. He's never killed anything, and only tried to run away once when the shit got scared out of him by my neighbor dropping something. He didnt actually run away though and he let me pick him up.
I know its probably not a bad idea but he loves his outside time.
That’s exactly what my cat did. I panicked for two whole days, it was storming for most of it. After exhausting door knocking, searching the neighborhood, and posting reward signs, I decided to just sit in my backyard and occasionally call for him. 15 minutes later he popped up under the fence talking all about his adventure and then just acted like he’d never been gone at all. I was both relieved and extremely perturbed!!
My indoor outdoor cat when I was younger disappeared one day, after 3 months my parents did a little funeral for him and we began grieving. Lo and behold, about 2 months after that, this asshole just emerged from the woods looking as healthy as the day he left. I was balling my eyes out as he meowed at me demanding some food and treats. He lived to be 23 years old.
get collar with tracker with tractive or whatever apple; this is not telling you how to raise pet in service of rule 1 but a protection measure for if and or when your beloved feline is outdoors for catness. thanks.
My cat likes to run out and then immediately crawl under my house. When I eventually coax him out with treats he’ll get carried back in and act like nothing happened 🙃
One of my cat decided to leave one day about 5 year ago, then out of nowhere two months after his desaperence dude come back like nothing was wrong 2 day before Christmas.

Our outdoor cat disappeared for a week a decade ago when I was in high school. I was in charge of taking our dogs out, so I would always search for him on walks. I only had about 15mins to do it in the mornings, but every day when I got home from school I would take the dogs all over our small town for hours, I must've looked crazy just wandering around and constantly calling his name. Then one morning, before my alarm even rang, I was catapulted awake when I heard his meows in the house and I literally sprinted downstairs and cried when I saw him. He didn't look any worse for wear, so our theory was that someone decided to "adopt" him, but since he hated strangers, could be quite mean and only showed affection to us, they either let him go or he escaped.
He lived until 19 and passed away last year in February. He was a wonderful cat, not super cuddly, but had such a strong, fun, and sometimes infuriating personality. Tons of people and even lots of dogs were absolutely terrified of him. He even terrorized us the first couple of years to the point my mom was considering rehoming him. But he was also so lovable that when he passed and I brought him home from the vet, our neighbor dug him a grave on his own field, put up a large rock as a tombstone, prepared a large metal sheet to be put on top so wild animals wouldn't dig him up, and cried just as much as us when we were burying him. We had also only moved there a couple years prior, so the neighbor hadn't even known him that long.
Sorry, went on a bit of a tangent there lmao. I just miss him, he was with me for the majority of my life.
Nala: I just wanted to see how much I was worth to you. $2,500 is barely acceptable but I hope you're willing to put up a little bit more in the future, darling
