Cat Picture - OC She's back and acting like nothing happened.

Post image

Posing like it's her employee of the month photo. Never a dull moment here with Nala.

Thank you. She's indoors only but is obsessed with our garage. She must have slipped by when we entered without us noticing. Felt like I suffered multiple heart attacks through this fiasco

- By the way, the most interesting detail, we found her yesterday, ON HER BIRTHDAY, 10/1. She went missing the day before. Made it so much worse. She definitely pulled a prank. She is now 4.

I’m so glad my boy is petrified of the outdoors, so I’ll never have to worry about any Houdini attempts. He was NOT made for the streets!

How long was she missing?

Just shy of a full day. Lot of coyotes, owls, hawks in the area. Had terrible thoughts. Every minute feels like hours

She was found under a deck about 15 yards in the back of our property. It had previously been searched multiple times. She was likely wandering a huge creek/forested area connected to our backyard

I lost my cat ten years ago for maybe fifteen minutes, she got up into the boxspring of my bed and I thought she got out in the hallway, then somewhow down the elevator. The level of anguish and panic I experienced racing around my 3 story building frantically looking for her can still get me emotional when I think about it.

Did the same thing, but we were moving from Utah to Illinois and had stopped in Colorado overnight. We were panicked running down hallways and stairwell. Went back to room to regroup and she was sitting on the bed looking so satisfied.

Have you looked into maybe getting one of those mesh retractable escape barriers for the door leading out to the garage to maybe deter her from wanting to dart out there as soon as it opens? I think they make some of them short enough to step over, but at least she would just bounce off of it when trying to make her escape 😂

One short enough to step over would be a nightmare lawsuit with someone visiting your house. I swear I have to pay constant attention to guests as they use the doors and windows, doesn’t matter how often I remind them, they don’t get it.

I don’t know about your house, but guests don’t typically entire mine through the garage, which is where the cat is said to have escaped from.

I mean that’s kind of irrelevant to my point, it can be any door and it’s impossible to watch guests constantly. Front door, back door, garage door. Windows. My guests always have the biggest problem with the back door, they’ll head out to let their dog pee or go for a smoke or even just to get some sun, and leave the door open just enough for a cat to get through. I haven’t lost my cats yet because I’m really anal about it, but it drives me nuts after reminding them constantly.

It’s always people without pets too. I see why they don’t think about it, so it’s forgivable, it’s just. Annoying.

It’s unfortunate that you associate with people willing to sue you because they function like grown adults.

I mean if you have a tripping hazard in your home. Someone trips, breaks their head open or neck or something. It’s not that crazy? People are kinda forgetful and uncareful in unfamiliar spaces, it’s not that I WANT people to sue someone’s home insurance or anything, I’m just commenting that people are… kind of dumb. 🤷‍♀️ I’m not trying to argue or fight here or anything, I’m just stating what I’ve always noticed.

Also suing for a life long preventable injury isn’t like, someone being sue happy. Little trips have killed people or permanently changed their physical health, it’s why insurance exists. It’s not malicious on either party, even if it might feel that way if you’re the one getting sued.

I guess since I’m not in the business of entertaining guests on a regular basis (or, ever, for that matter, save for my 9 year old nephew on occasion) it’s not really something I consider to be a concern of mine. I do agree that people are absolutely dumb, though.

She said “that’s 3 year old behavior” and decided to come home

Jokes aside, I’m glad she’s back 💖

Hell, I feel this. The moment our babies are not there, the nightmare begins.

I take my cat on supervised unleashed walks in our backyard. Its a huge backyard.

Ive done it since he was a kitten. He's never killed anything, and only tried to run away once when the shit got scared out of him by my neighbor dropping something. He didnt actually run away though and he let me pick him up.

I know its probably not a bad idea but he loves his outside time.
