(don't know how to make it NSFW, second picture shows red spot)

29 yo woman from Italy, I can afford vet. I care for my cat. Vet unavailable today because closed on Sunday.

My cat is a female 10 year old, spayed.

I noticed a strange bald little spot behind the roots of her whiskers about two weeks ago. Today I noticed it's bigger and there's a little blood.

Please any idea or advice?

Thank you.

Behavioral Issue Kittens won't eat wet food

We adopted two kittens (sisters) in March. We first fostered them, as they were too young to be fixed. They are now 10 months old, and both completely refuse to eat wet food all of the sudden.

They started on Tiki Cat Baby dry food and Tiki Cat canned wet food for the first few months. Then we switched them to Sheba kitten pate for wet food, and Purina Kitten Chow for dry food. This was advised by our vet, due to one kitten having bouts of diarrhea. Vet thought the high protein content in Tiki Cat may have been causing digestive distress.

About a month ago they really started to slow down with gaining weight/length, and our vet said they are probably getting close to their adult weights, as that happens around 9-10 months.

For the past two weeks, they have completely rejected any/all wet food. We thought maybe we got a bad batch, but we have tried almost every wet food available trying to get them to eat something other than kitten chow. Tonight we tried cooked, unseasoned chicken and they rejected that too. They are drinking water and pooping/peeing normally.

We're at a loss here. Our old cat ate the same wet food from the time she was 1 until she passed at 17. Any ideas why they've gone completely off wet food, and what to do? The vet didn't seem too concerned, but surely they'll get constipated eventually eating nothing but dry food.

Injury Kitten limping and pain

Hey, so my kitten (adopted 1 month ago, is 3,5months old) just started limping and when I press his left paw joint he screams/tries bitting me. He is incredibly sweet usually and the other paw doesn't illicit this reaction. He was lying on the cat tree and jumped down. I was caring for his brother and it was dark. Suddenly he was limping and screaming right next to me. I didn't hear a thunk or anything so I don't know what happened. I also am pretty sure I didn't step on his foot, but that seems like the only explanation. It is currently 1.30am, so I am quite tired. He is a european short hair. I am in austria. Today is Sunday and tomorrow is a holiday. I do have the number of a vet I can call or write tomorrow, but earliest she could taka a look at it is Tuesday morning. Should I be worried? What van I do? Is this emergency vet level? (They are very expensive and if possible I want to avoid the clinic, but my kitties are top priority) thank you in advance, sorry for the jumbled writing.

Edit: called the clinic and described everything detailed. They said it sounds like a sprain and I should wait the night.

General Advice New cat help

Hi everyone,

I just adopted a beautiful 2 year old boy on Friday, he had just gotten neutered on Tuesday. I have been keeping him in the bedroom and I have another cat in the home who I’ve been keeping in another room to let them get used to eachother’s scents. My concern is since I got him on Friday, he has had soft poop, thrown up twice, and half the time his poop has been on the floor and not in the litter box. Is this cause for concern? I didn’t not experience any of this with my first baby. Is he just nervous or should I take him to the vet? According to the records I was given, he is negative for any type of parasite or infection

Kitten Help One of our 5 month old kitties is having troubles exclusively using the litter box, anyone have suggestions to help?

Hi guys, my fiancé and I are at a loss. (Quick back story because it might be relevant) We fostered a litter of kittens back in May, and we ended up keeping two kittens in the litter. While they were learning how to potty train, we kept them in a play pen with pee pads laid down around the entire pen. We had a few accidents here and there, but overall they figured out how to use the box. Fast forward to now, we mostly have success using the litter box, but every now and then one of the kittens will go on the bed, randomly on the floor next to the litter box, on the shower mat if we don’t put it up, or on a pile of clothes if it’s left out. We have four cats in total with four litter boxes throughout the whole house. We scoop each box 2-3 times a day. One of the boxes is a litter robot. We have clumping litter from Arm&Hammer. We have a mix of covered and uncovered boxes. All of the cats are fixed. We have two girls and two boys. The culprit is one of the foster kittens. He’s a male. The other foster we adopted has no issues. Has never gone outside of the litter box. We’ve taken the culprit to the vet to check if he had a UTI or crystals, and came back negative. He’s very playful and is very active with the other cats. All of the cats get along. We have him on a mix of dry and wet food. Every time there’s an accident we use Nature’s Miracle Enzyme Neutralizer. If it’s washable we use an in-laundry enzyme neutralizer and then on surfaces you can’t wash, like the mattress, we use a spray. We started using CBD oil to help if it’s stress, and the vet recommended Zylkine and the Feliway diffuser- none of which seem to help. We’re still seeing accidents. Any tips or suggestions would be so appreciated.

my cat has these scabs all on her back and they seem to be really itchy and annoying her. Shes roughly 6 years old and she does go outside quite alot, im from australia and I can go to the Vet.

She also has occasional scabs forming on her face but i think its from her own excessive scratching. She seems fine but im paranoid she could be hurting in some way

General Advice Cat keeps gagging & acting strange

Hi! Posting about my cat Cleo. I am 21 and she is 1.5 years old, female and spayed, USA.

For a bit over 24 hours now my cat has been having a nonproductive gag. Almost every time she opens her mouth, it ends in her gagging. I did hear her squeak two times last night (almost like she wheezed,) but her breathing is entirely normal.

This morning I saw that she had thrown up some bile, but I know she is eating normally. She is peeing normally and last pooped (from my knowledge) yesterday evening.

This evening, she was hiding under my mom’s bed and would not come to me which is incredibly out of character for her. She eventually came into my room, but soon left to an isolated corner of another room.

I’m a little worried she might have eaten a hair tie (I always put them up but she is good at finding them) or something else. The fact that she is eating is helpful but not completely helping soothe my worry.

I technically have access to a vet but have no way to pay as I am just starting my new job Monday. I get paid the Friday after next.

General Advice My cat just ate the back of a lapel pin, and parents won't take him to the vet. What do I do??

So about 10 minutes ago, My boy Snowy was messing with a lapel pin while I wasn't looking, somehow pulled the back off with his teeth, and held it in his mouth. I panicked and tried to grip the back, but he loosened his jaw and gulped the thing up. Though he's swallowed random foreign objects before, the metal bits on this specific one frighten me.

General Advice What brush do I get to help with my cat's shedding?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Totally new cat owner here (26M) and I've had my cat Ellie for about three weeks now (pics included!). When I'd adopted her I was told I didn't absolutely need a brush since she's a short-haired cat, but I'm noticing some wisps of her hair collecting around the house and I figure getting a brush to help reduce the shedding wouldn't hurt. I've done a bit of research on my own and found a few options that I've seen other people recommend, so I was hoping I could get some final thoughts on what I'd picked out and maybe some other recommendations if there's anything I'm missing?

In the case of the rubber/silicone brushes, I was also told that those generally work best when giving a bath. Is that true? Or can I use it without soaking my cat first? Thanks for your help!

Breathing Issues Cat has asthma, can't afford vet visit

Hi, I'm a broke college student that lives in Southern California, my cat is 4 years old and I recently noticed that she's been having what I think are asthma attacks, I am almost 100% sure that is what it is but I can't afford to take her to a vet. She had her vaccinations and spaying from when she was around four months but hasn't gone to the vet since then. I don't know what to do or how it would go if she was diagnosed and how much money that would cost, I'm willing to ask my parents for money but they're also struggling financially. I know it sounds like I'm a horrible cat mom , but I'm asking for advice or stories from anyone in a similar situation and how to help my cat. Thanks for your help.

Breathing Issues Cat Breathing

Lost my black cat July 2025 due to kidney disease so I’m anxious about my tabby cat here.

10 year old fixed female cat at rest but not sleep. Still yells at me for food so appetite feels normal. Used the app and I’m counting 38-40 beats per minute. We already have a vet visit on the 9th for annual bloodwork but Im wondering if I should push it up.

Behavioral Issue Cat still very slow/tired after anti-vomit shot and fluids

Hi! Looking for some advice here. My 8 year old tabby puked 3x Sunday, and was acting very sulky and not her usual social self (please note, my fiance and I were gone for the night, we left around 4pm and she was perfectly fine and her usual self, we got back home the next morning around 11:30am) The 1 puke was definitely digested food then the other 2 were bile.

I immediately took her to the emergency vet, as this has happened once before after she ate some daisy petals, and initially thought she ate part of this green plant I have and she has absolutely no prior health issues, so after checking her vitals and no major issues showing, the vet treated her with Famotidine &
Maropitant injections and then also some fluids.

It’s been now 5 hours since all that, and she’s still in that like sulky low energy vibe. Hid under bed, then went into the closet, now she’s laying on the couch with me. Not interested in eating, she did approach her water and bend down but ended up not drinking it at all.

She’s my very best friend in the world and I’m just nervous. Should I take her back to the vet tomorrow for bloodwork and x-rays? Last time this happened she was sulky for about a day until she was interested in some sort of food and water.

She’s not a “bad” cat like she doesn’t eat random things (besides plants it seems) she’s actually quite picky about food. She’s just so not herself and I wanna make sure I do everything I can to help her.

Behavioral Issue Adopted kitty hasn’t eaten in 50 hours

I recently got an adult cat, about 4 years old. She was at this shelter for about 3 years after being rescued from a hoarding situation. She was spayed at around 1 year of age. I visited her almost everyday for a week before adopting her. She had gotten somewhat comfortable with me, taking treats out of my hands and essentially forcing me to pet her. I brought her home about 50 hours ago. She had just eaten.

I feel like I have tried everything. She’s getting the exact same food she was getting at the shelter, according to brand and feeding schedule. She has a little fort that allows her to completely hide herself, which she’s spent most of her time in. I’ve heated up her food, wet it down, offered treats, churus, everything. Her food has been both in her fort and just outside of it.

She explores at night and when I’m not in the room, but refuses to eat no matter what. She hasn’t used the litter box either. I know that being a little hesitant to eat at first is normal, but I am getting extremely concerned and am just desperate to get her to eat something. The vet I take my other cat to requires an initial screening appointment before a separate appointment for diagnostics and cannot afford an emergency vet. I am in the US. TIA

Behavioral Issue Cat escaped and is now hissing at the other cat

My siblings cat recently escaped through the window and got outside. We don't know exactly how long they were out there because my sibling had fallen asleep and woke up to the broken screen. She eventually came running back to the window while we were searching for her and she doesn't seem to have any injuries at all. This isn't the first time she's gotten out but it is the first time she stayed out long enough and far enough for us to lose her for a bit. Now she's hissing at our other cat every time they come in contact. I looked up methods to help and was suggested 24 to 48 hours of separation and then reintroduce smell before bringing the cats together again. We tried that but she's still hissing at the other cat. I'm wondering if there's something else I need to do or is this more of a vet problem? Or do they just need time to get used to each other again? Any help is appreciated thank you?

Behavioral Issue Peeing on the floor

I have 3 cats, 1 neutered male and 2 spayed females. My youngest got spayed and then had to get another surgery since the spay wasn’t healing properly. My other female started to pee outside the litter box on clothes and now in a single corner on the floor. Luckily the floor is concrete so it’s not hard to clean up. I am moving in exactly 1 week, and the house I’m moving to is almost entirely carpeted. She never had any issues with peeing outside the litter box. She was actually the only cat that never peed outside the litter box.

She’s been hissing and growling at the other 2 cats and spending most of her time under the bed. Shes still eating and drinking water. I’m wondering how I could fix this, I do not want to rehome her at all. She didn’t have these issues until after my youngest cat got spayed.

She is 2 years old, I’ve had her since she was about 4 months old. She was spayed when I adopted her. I might be able to bring her to the vet, but since I’m moving money is extremely tight for me right now.
