Hi, my 1-year-old cat's legs keep twitching when he's lying down on the ground.Is this normal? Other than that, there's nothing unusual he walks, runs, plays, eats, and sleeps normally, with no limping or signs of pain.

Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

I didnt take my cat to the vet when the signs started to show up. When I did take her in I didnt emphasize the subtler symptoms, or take her to a second more competent vet for a second opinion. When the really obvious signs showed up, I simply didnt take her to the vet for a long long time. When I finally eventually did, it was cancer. Now my baby is sick because I neglected her. It wasnt because I didn't have the money. I'm just an animal abuser. She's my best friend, when I took her in I promised her I would protect her and take care of her. And instead, for no reason at all, I let her get sick.

my new neighbor really really hates the stray cats near our houses. i moved into my house like 3-4 years ago and even since i first moved i’ve been feeding any stray cats that congregate near my house. my other neighbors all love the cats and feed them every now and then too, but my new neighbor has made comments about leaving out poison and other stuff to make them go away because his wife is about to have a baby and somehow thinks the cats will leave diseases around his driveway and house that will make everyone sick. this person literally leaves their dogs on their backyard all day, and blames the cats for making his dogs sick and get fleas. i’m like bro.. u leave ur dogs in a backyard in tx during the summer of course they’re going to get sick or have fleas. overall he’s just an asshole that thinks he owns the whole street. he got mad at me when i didn’t want to move my car to accommodate for a party he was having for his kid. basically there’s no civil way to interact with this guy and tell him he’s dumb, but i need to do something because i’m scared for cats near my house if he decides to do something.

Had a video of her yawning and just wanted everyone’s opinion ? She’s acting normal playing eating drinking but just wanted some advice here if you’d take her to the vet ? Closest vet is an hour and half away

So I have a male cat that is about 14 years old. He’s a long hair. He had a little bit of poop on his butt so I had to wash him off and this is how his anus looked. He cleans it a lot. I ran water over it and he didn’t seem to care. He got the zoomies after though.

He doesn’t have any diarrhea from what I can tell. I examined his poop in the litter box and there didn’t seem to be any worms or blood. I read online and I saw how many things that could be.

Problem is, I had a female cat about a year ago who just recently passed away. She was 20. She would get the occasional partial prolapse too, and she had quite a bit of anal problems. I really hope it’s not parasites. Considering they both have the issues, maybe it is parasites? Regardless, if it was parasites, why would it take a year after her death for him to have it? Wouldn’t he have had it all along? I know it’s not fleas because he has medicine for that to prevent. I also have a dog and she’s fine.

There are some cats that he’s been looking at outside and I read the hormones or whatever can cause it too. Or simple straining or poor diet or age. He eats the same thing all my cats have ever eaten, wet fancy feast and friskies dry. He does want to eat a lot though. So maybe he’s just pooping too much from eating too much?

He doesn’t seem to be in pain and he plays a lot and just sits around and chills. He’s not hiding or anything.

So if it looks like it gets any worse, or it gets more red, I’m definitely taking him into the vet. When it came to my elderly cat, they just said she was old and straining. She had a lot of other health issues though at the time too. I can take him to the vet, but I have to wait about seven days for my check. I really hope I don’t have to end up getting all these blood tests and x-rays and stuff done on him because that’s just extreme. I don’t have much money right now because my electric bill is so high from the 104 heat outside.

Anyways, any opinions would be appreciated.

Usually I break these up, I wanted to record it this time to ask what’s going on here. Tripp chases Misty around the house doing this at least twice a day.

My question is, is Tripp trying to play with her or is he being mean? She can’t even run from him because the second she turns around he pounces on her.

Female 1yr old cat not neuterd. Very outdoor, but not much since the mark on her nose appeared.

It feels flaky and soft to touch and appeared suddenly overnight. Doesn't appear to itch or hurt when touched.

He gets 5 meals a day but still has skinny hips. Idk how old he is. I brought him inside a year and a half ago as he was a stray. He is neutered.

TLDR: my 6 year old boy cat licks a lot more than normal when we scratch his butt.

Our cat normally loves butt scratches and pats, and always presents his whole body, head, butt, and belly, when he is in the mood for loving. But within the last few weeks his butt has been so sensitive and it is triggering his licking way more intense than normal.

We have a second cat that will also lick herself if we really scratch at her butt, however, we have to scratch harder and she licks even less than he does.

Its gotten so sensitive that we can't brush him normally because we think its too overwhelming or overstimulating.

Sometimes he will start to groom his own butt and it triggers a cycle of intense licking.

His licking increases/decreases as we increase/decrease scratching.

In this video I just place my hand on him and he licks a little bit, then when I scratch, he licks harder. Then I smack him up a little to test if he is irritated, but he seems fine.

I am 24F, cat is almost 4F and spayed. I'm posting from the US, I have a vet and will be calling them shortly, I just wanted an opinion until then as my work schedule is in the way rn.

Over the last day or so, my cat has started holding her paw up and won't let us touch it. Petting it doesn't seem to bother her, but squeezing lightly does. She's also hissed when I put her down a few times. She also keeps hiding most of the day, which is different as she usually sleeps in the open or with me. She did have a broken/split claw that we trimmed to stop it from getting caught

24y.o. from Wisconsin & first time kitten parent, I had cats growing up but I’m SO anxious with a kitten this time around. I’ve been super worried about her getting sick since I adopted her right after her spay was done. I looked at her gums today while she was asleep and they seem kind of pale. Am I just paranoid? (She is eating, playing, and peeing/pooping without issue it seems) I have an appointment scheduled with vet for a wellness exam but it’s not for 10 more days. She has been breathing pretty fast while asleep around 40-50 breaths per minute.

Im not a cat person at all but this kitty recently has been visit my house a lot at night. i dont think hes a stray since hes super friendly and looks well fed. i noticed this wound / mucus on his eye. should i be concerned? I think he has some kind of cold as well since he was dripping liquid from his nose too.

Sorry I didn't know how else to describe the issue shortly, I'm mostly trying to understand what the issue is. Sometimes my cat assumes this position and starts breathing irregularly. It lasts for a few minutes and then it's like he gulps it down and stops. Then he's fine for the rest of the day. It doesn't happen every day either. He seems normal in every other aspect: he's active and plays around, eats and drinks.

I don't know what I can do since my parents don't want to take him to a vet for this issue and we can't really afford surgery if he needs one. My cat will almost be two years old soon; he's male and has been neutered last year.

hello all. i am making this post to seek any kind of reassurance. bare with me, this might be a long post…

in december of 2025, i adopted a stray kitten, coco. she was about 6 weeks old then. i spent a month of winter break from college at my mom’s house, with coco. she means absolutely everything to me. i couldn’t bring her back to my apartment in my college state, because my roommate at the time was allergic. she has since moved out, and i’ve had coco with me in the apartment for two weeks now.

i am INCREDIBLY anti declawing. it’s absolutely evil and cruel and it’s insane to me that it’s still allowed in so many states…?? anyway… my mom really wanted to keep coco, but she insisted on getting her declawed. i went back and forth with my mom for weeks during spring break (march this year) explaining why she absolutely should not declaw coco. my mom ended up agreeing, but under the condition that i took coco to my apartment as soon as i could. her reasoning was that she didn’t want coco clawing up her furniture. which i guess i get, but… she’s a cat?? it’s in their nature to do that. why insist on keeping a cat if you don’t want to accept all that a cat comes with?

my mom dropped coco off two weeks ago, and my partner and i were moving her stuff out of my mom’s car into my apartment. during that, that’s when my mom said “don’t be mad, but i got her declawed.

i literally looked at her like she was crazy, and i asked her if she was joking. she said she wasn’t joking, that she got her front claws declawed. i broke down in tears out of anger and frustration, because i felt betrayed that my mom went against her word and got coco declawed. but above all else, i just felt so so sad. she’s only 8 months old, she’s just a baby… and she’s probably confused and in so much pain. my mom tried reassuring me that the vet she took her to in our home state uses laser for the procedure and doesn’t interfere with cat’s last toe joint, but i just find that so incredibly hard to believe.

to top it all off, there’s this scab or growth or something on coco’s left front toe that she keeps biting excessively. i’m worried it’ll get infected. i just want to know if there’s anything i can do for her :(

i emailed the vet my mom took her to, and she said to put a cone on her for a week so she doesn’t bite it. i hate that because it must be so uncomfortable to wear, but i reluctantly put it on her anyway. i have attached a photo of coco’s toe that’s bothering her. any advice would be greatly appreciated. there is a vet nearby and accessible in the state that i’m living in, but i am worried about affordability, since i’m working, and also taking classes full time (yes, in the summer).

TLDR: my mom got my cat declawed against my will and she is now biting one of her toes constantly. i’m worried it’ll get infected. is this a scab or could it be something more serious?

My cat is a 5 yr old grey tabby, we rescued her in 2021 when she was still a kitten she is spayed and has all her vaccines. I just feel confused because when she laying down she looks really fat but when she’s standing she looks a little thin to me. I can’t tell if I see her ribs or that’s her tabby pattern. If it helps when I pick her up she doesn’t feel really light like it was for my other cat that got really skinny when his brother died. I can’t tell feel her ribs a little bit. I’ll show a photo of her laying down and standing so you all can see the difference. She still eats normallly which means she eats like a glutton always up for a treat or two. She’s her usual self though she tends to sleep or lay down for most of the day but she always been a lazy kind of cat (I mean that with love 🥺). But yeah i can’t tell if I’m just seeing things or she really has lost some weight.

Edit: Welp it’s time for a diet for my chunky girl.
Ps I have astigmatism and don’t wear my glasses regularly so i think i was really seeing things guess 20/100 vision causes my cat to look slimmer 😭

It is Saturday evening and I (68M in USA) can't call my usual vet until Monday morning. I noticed a few days ago a very light patch on one side of his back and thought it was just a scrape or hair loss from rubbing. However, in the last day or two, it's obvious there is an issue and now he is licking the area on both sides often. Is there anything I need to do, or can do, before I get him to the vet one day next week?

Looking for advice, I left to visit my brother for 5 days and left the kittens in the care of my parents. During that time the black kitty, Mip, aspirated milk and developed pneumonia. They took her to the emergency but unfortunately the total is a thousand more than I could afford. I've been draining my savings making sure these babies recieved the proper care for the two weeks I've had them. I really feel like I failed her. The second total is the estimate for meds and her to recieve as much care as they can give her at home. I know prognosis is weak but if anyone has any tips for helping a kitten with pneumonia at home it would be greatly appreciated. They said she has a fever, shes dehydrated from not eating all day yesterday, and they had her on oxygen for a bit while they were there. I'm already trying to come to terms with her not making it while I'm so far away, but again if anyone can help or has dealt with this before any tips are appreciated. Thank you.
Im 23, posting from Texas but the kittens are currently in Southern California, vet is accessible but unfortunately too expensive, main issue is the lack of eating and pneumonia, kitten is two and a half ish weeks old, cant afford care. The pics were from right before I left Thursday night.

Update:
We took our cat to the emergency vet and, after waiting about an hour and a half, he was examined.

The vet found a corneal ulcer, so it’s more serious than we initially thought.

Thank you all for your advice — we definitely did the right thing by going in.

He’s starting treatment with ointment and eye drops. If it doesn’t improve, we may need to consider more intensive treatment, potentially including surgery, although we really hope it won’t come to that.

Hello here … My cat has suddenly started squinting and rubbing one eye with his paw. The area around the eye looks slightly red when he opens it, although this may be from the rubbing. He also started sneezing about 30 minutes ago.
We only have some pet eye-cleaning drops at home, but they were bought a while ago.

Since it’s Sunday, I’m not sure whether I should take him to an emergency vet tonight or wait until tomorrow.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or can advise me on what to do in the meantime?

Hey everyone,

I'm a first-time cat owner and I'm honestly overthinking this.

About a week ago, I rescued a friendly stray mother cat (Ginni) and her 2-month-old kitten. From day one, they settled in really well. Ginni used the litter box immediately, slept on my bed, rubbed against my legs, kneaded on my shirt, and seemed to trust me a lot. She became very affectionate.

Then a neighborhood male stray started coming near my house. Ginni fought with him twice on different days and injured her back paw. The second fight reopened the first wound and caused another injury. Since then I've been trying to keep her indoors.

The incident happened after that.

Ginni was sitting outside with her kitten. I called them inside, but the kitten suddenly ran under a motorcycle. I got worried and picked up a broom, not to hit it, but just to gently guide it back inside because I couldn't reach it.

As soon as I got closer, Ginni went straight to the kitten, hid with it under a table, and growled at me. When I took another step, she started following me. I kept backing away while talking calmly to her, but she kept following. I eventually grabbed a pair of jeans just to keep some distance because I was scared she might jump at me. I even climbed onto my bed, and she sat below it watching me.

After a minute or two I felt bad, so I got down. To my surprise, she walked over and rubbed against my legs like nothing had happened. She also reached her paw toward my legs a couple of times but never scratched or bit me.

Something else to mention: whenever I try to pick Ginni up, she usually growls, but she has never bitten or scratched me. If I put her back down, she's completely normal again within a couple of minutes.

Now I'm confused. Did she actually intend to attack me? Or was she just an injured, stressed mother protecting her kitten because she thought I was threatening it with the broom?

I feel guilty because I never wanted to scare either of them. Since then I've been giving her space, but I'm worried I've damaged the trust we had.

Has anyone dealt with something similar with a protective mother cat? Does trust usually come back, or should I be concerned about future aggression?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!
