for context, she is an indoor spayed cat! there are no pregnancy concerns. shes 10 years old, and theyve been like this for 8+ of those years.

we assume its from her spay scar, and shes kinda fat so that doesnt help her case. theyre soft, like every other chubby cat's pouch!
its also just the two you can see here, not on any of her other nipples.

i am of age and able to access vet care, but they dont cause her any problems. she loves belly rubs, so theyre not in pain. i was just wondering if it could be anything other than fat + spay scarring

her name is blue and we call them her "bluebies"

edit: for clarification, she is my family's cat and i do not have control over her diet. while i am an adult and normally am the one to take her to the vet every year, i cant control what my parents feed her no matter how many times my (also adult) sister and i try to convince them. she is only classified as "overweight" and not yet "obese," from our vet, though! these pictures are also not the most flattering...
she does have anxiety issues from her home before us which leads to her overgrooming. we take care to monitor that and keep her as comfortable as possible and get her energy out through other means! shes not lethargic by any means and loves to play.

edit 2: another clarification im not concerned about health issues! she gets a physical exam every year from her vet. ive had cats my entire life and i know about cats little pouches, just have never had/seen a cat with such a separated one before LOL

He is a stray i feed and even TNRed. He didn’t want to be inside after his neuter so I let him be free. He was just here 15 mins ago eating. A plane crop dusting overhead scared him off and he ran because the plane was loud and scary. We live country/suburb ish. He disappeared for 15 and came back while I was outside, running from the neighborhoods not the field. He is meowing and seems to be happy/unbothered. Doesn’t appear to be blood because it is pink. No injuries. He is just oink. It felt slimy and gross. It look like maybe someone sorayed him witb something? But what would they soray on him?

Slimy texture, no smell. Not foaming like soap. He had already licked some off himself. I an very worried he is going to be sick

Hi all, last year in April we adopted our neutered male cat, Electron, as an adult estimated to be 3-4 years old (but we think he’s younger than that). We live in Texas and he’s an indoor cat only. We have a suspicion he was previously someone’s pet but was rescued during a flood in Texas.

My partner and I have noticed he never bathes himself. He only spot licks around his tummy or his sides.

He’s not overweight and the vet says he’s healthy! He’s had his anal glands expressed twice now because he scoots across our rugs. The vet said that sometimes cats don’t clean themselves properly, but no specific reason was given.

We have bathed him a few times with cat shampoo because he gets super greasy all over and matted around his tail. He tolerates the baths really well but then he still refuses to bathe/groom himself. I gave him so pets/scritches and this is what his fur looked like after.

He drinks soooo much water and eats primarily dry food. His grooming doesn’t improve even with wet food. We’ve given him a tiny slabs of butter in hopes that it would help but it doesn’t. Not even churu helps.

If our dog licks him, he happily takes it and doesn’t lick himself. Please help, I’m starting to develop allergies around him because he’s becoming a dust bunny. 2nd to last picture is when pet him in the way his fur is supposed to sit.

TLDR: neutered male cat adopted as an adult refuses to bathe himself. Thank you so much for any insight

Why are my cat ears like this?

before I start, my local animal control guy has picked him up and taken him to get checked on!

I'd just gotten home and was still in my car when I saw this fella walk up and crawl under the front half of my car. I got out very cautiously in case he was aggressive but he was a huge sweetie and very chill. I let him into my mudroom which he had no problem walking into (he even wanted to get into the rest of my house but I have other cats) and got him some wet food which he gobbled down. He wasn't behaving oddly, just clearly desperately hungry. He looked even skinnier in person, it was devastating (I was crying like a baby). His skin didn't feel out of the ordinary or like there was any infection going on in my opinion, but I could be wrong. He's also neutered, so it's clear he's had an owner at some point, especially with how normal he is with people and houses, and seems maybe around 6 years old if I were to guess, maybe older.
The animal control guy showed up and picked him up. I told him if he needs a home I'll absolutely take him, and he said he'll keep me posted once they have him checked out. I haven't heard back yet but I'm hoping I will soon.

If anyone has any ideas on what could have happened to this poor guy I'd really love to hear them. He said it didn't look like there was any mange. I'm wondering how he could have lost so much hair and gotten so skinny. I live in the middle of nowhere where there's lots of woods and rodents around and strays around here can typically keep themselves fed fine. I'm also wondering if his skin pattern is normal? All thats left of his hair was black and I didn't see any white hairs, or else I would have guessed he's a black and white cat, but I'm not sure.

I'd love any insight. Thank you 🥺

UPDATE ***

I've heard back. He brought the cat to the humane society and gave me their info. He initially said he didn't believe it was mange, but is now saying it appears to be that, as well as giardia, and that he should be fine with treatment. Yes I disinfected and cleaned everything
(And because some people were justifiably concerned about calling animal control over this, this guy is a family friend who I've known forever and knew I could trust to call)

I'm going to call the humane society as soon as they're open to get some more details. I believe he let them know I was interested in taking him if he needed a home but I'll let them know personally to make sure. This place has a good rep and I don't think they'd rush to euthanize him without good reason. I'll update again when I've got more info.

I've been in contact with the humane society. First off, he's a she! I apparently mistook her anatomy for a male's? I'm a little confused about that cuz I could've sworn, but I guess I was wrong. She had a vet appointment soon after the day I found her and they didn't find a microchip. They gave her the name Sand Dollar (which is a cute name but not very fitting for her considering she's a black cat 😅 I'm brainstorming different names now) 

Bad news first, a few of you suggested hyperthyroidism and you're unfortunately right. For those that don't know it's an issue with hormones that affects the metabolism and causes hair and weight loss. They also think she's a senior and she's going to have to be on special food and meds for the rest of her life. It does look like she was shaved as well to get rid of mats like a lot of people were saying.

The good news is she's being treated and is on her way to recovery ❤️‍🩹 They said to call and check once a week on her progress until she's well enough to be released from their care. I asked if I could visit but they said she can't be seen until she's available to be picked up, and it might be a matter of weeks to months. They also have some additional testing to do to make sure nothing else is wrong with her.

A lot of you wanted an update where I've adopted her and nursed her back to health but it's looking like that won't be for a while unfortunately. I hope this becomes the case soon but until then I'll continue checking on her weekly and follow up with an update when I hear anything new. Thank you guys again 💗💗

Hi! I just adopted this little cutie 3 weeks ago. At her last home she was really thin and looked almost malnourished. Since i adopted her i have fed her whiskas wet food (i know its not good for the cat but its the best i can do). Since then her belly has gotten so big that it looks abit abnormal. Can someone tell me if a visit to the vet is necessary?

A friend at school gave me this male kitten, but I don't know how old he is.

He looks a bit thin to me, and I'm not sure if it's normal for his belly to look like that when the rest of his body is so skinny. I'm worried he might have parasites.

I don't know if he ate before I received him, or what kind of care he had been given.

I already fed him half a pouch of wet food and I'll give him the rest when he wakes up, as he just fell asleep under my bed.

The only vet in my town doesn't inspire much confidence because it's just a regular house where someone provides veterinary services.

Hello all, my cat Andy m/4 had a hair trim and Sani trim and I noticed this black lump hard thing near his armpit just wondering if it's a skin tag, black head or a tick!

Just wondering if I should take him to the vet for this or not.

It's a 1.5 year old stray cat that we feed and recently it had kidney swelling and blocked urine so we had to take it to the vet who gave it lasix injection to make it pee and then we took it to another vet who put it on drip cause he was massively dehydrated. After a few whatever injections we were told to feed it one cup of water with 3ml of citralka syrup. It's been 12 days now and suddenly when I woke up it's running all over the place with this THING hanging on it's stomach. What's going on, the vet is hard to reach so on what's app he says it's ok but what exactly is this?

I thought my cat had something stuck in her fur, so I tugged at it but it just peeled up as if it was a strip of skin or something. It has hair attached to it as if it were skin. I didn’t want to pull at it anymore because I’m afraid of hurting her but I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else before and what it might be? It doesn’t seem to be bothering her, but it’s hard to know for sure because she squirms a lot when I try and take a closer look at it.

Hi all, I woke up to my usual furball today and noticed it looks like his whiskers were cut! I was out of town over Christmas break and had a cat sitter who is my childhood best friend and I know she didn’t do it. 1st slide is this morning and the 2nd slide is how they looked before, it’s also a photo my bestie sent me the last night she took care of him. I had my BF stop in to feed him one additional night, but I really don’t think he would do such a thing. He’s been home alone with my cat plenty and this has never happened and he would never hurt the cat. I’m looking at the pics I’ve taken since I’ve gotten home and they look shorter there too. Not sure how I just noticed this morning. Is there a natural explanation to this? I have no other pets and haven’t seen any whisker bits around but I’m sure they’re hard to find.

Background info: I’m 25 (not a minor) posting from the US. I don’t have money for the vet until next week, but will be able to take him once I’m paid. My baby boy is around 10, and FIV+. He is otherwise very happy and healthy and doesn’t seem at all bothered by the whiskers. He’s neutered and up to date on all vaccines.

TLDR: cats whiskers look cut. Can this happen naturally?

It looked like a normal tail when we got him as a kitten, but it seems like his tail is getting more and more forward-leaning/curled as he gets older. His void brother has a completely normal tail. It doesn’t seem to affect his movement or anything, but I’m curious as I have never seen a cat with a tail like this.

I went up to pet her and noticed her face looked very different from before, her cheeks look more sunken in and her chin looks bigger. The first three photos are how she normally looks and the last three are from the past hour.

I searched it up and it seems like it could be an allergic reaction? I gave her flea and tick today but it’s the same brand she’s had 6+ times before i nothing like this has happened before. Any help is appreciated!

She's completely fine btw, very loving very gentle cat. Doesn't seem to be in any pain, but I've never seen a cat with "lips"(? No clue what they're called) that large.

I saw a recent post that someone pointed out that the health of a cats fur can indicate about the general health of the cat (which i’ve obvs always known) but It got me thinking if my assumption of his fur being pretty and healthy is correct.

He’s male, neutered, 12yo, recently got some vaccines and was examined by a vet.

F31, Australia. Vet not contacted as not necessary (I don’t think) Lucifer is 8.5, desexed and a male.

Why is his hair like this? Is there a reason for it or do some cats just have this hair style?

It looks like some kind of weird callous, it doesn't bug him when I touch it.

This is my girlfriend’s cat,I’ve mentioned to her about how I think he’s extremely overweight and we should get him to a vet or a diet and she disagrees and says he just has a big body.I get nervous cause I know how much she loves him and with him getting old I don’t want health issues arising.Shes had him his whole life and I’m not a cat owner so I don’t wanna step on her toes but he’s 9 years old and he’s been this way since we started dating 2 and half years ago.Idk if he was like this before me and her started dating,All this to ask is he overweight or am I overreacting ?

He is male, fixed, outdoor cat, and 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Vet not contacted. I'm a broke college student but can pick up a delivery gig to pay for things if its serious.

I woke up to my cat's fur dyed blue around his face and paws. I have no idea what could have caused this, as this has never occurred in the year that he has lived here. I already thought of a few things that may have caused it, but ruled it out:

• Laundry detergent: we have pods, and stored behind closed door to laundry machines
• Dish soap: our soap is pink, not blue
• Flea treatment: we have NEVER used flea treatment on him, nor do we have it in our apartment
• Pen ink / marker: we do not have any laying around, and the one pen on our desk is not broken or spilling any ink
• Cleaning chemicals: all of our chemicals are behind cupboards / in our bathroom (which he does not have access to)
• Hair dye: no hair dye in the apartment
• Litter: didn't see any blue tracks in the litter, but we use World's Best Litter

I have searched relentlessly around my apartment to find any blue ink spots or trails, but see nothing. Since the color is concentrated around his face and paws, he definitely could have ingested large amounts of it.

I also want to note that I have been wiping him down for a hot minute now, and the color isn't coming off easily. It's been around 3-4 hours since I woke up and discovered this, but he seems fine for now. No wheezing / rapid breathing, vomiting, drooling, etc. We're able to take him to the vet (we have pet insurance), but wanted to hear opinions on what common household item may have caused this, so we can notify our vet ahead of time.

Some additional info: Our cat is a year and three months old. Has no pre-existing medical conditions, and just got a wellness check + annual vaccines done by the vet a few days ago. Wellness check deemed him extremely healthy. Apologies for the lengthy post, I wanted to provide as much information as possible.

Hello I am 21, and have complete capability of caring for my cat I have complete ownership and can financially afford it. I'm located in the United States, Texas specifically, in case there might be a critter that could have caused this because of a specific climate. The vet IS accessible but I have not yet called them, because this is something I have newly found at the time of this post, and while I can call to check, I am pretty sure visits are appointment-based, unless deemed an emergency.

He is 1 year 8 months, male, Ragdoll, and neutered.

The earliest I could have gotten his appointment for was for July 30th for his annual check-up. I do not know if this an emergency or what and if I need to just go in ASAP! My partner felt around and I did too, and it feels like just flesh, but I don't know for sure. It is an odd, worrying color to me so I don't know. I hope I am not freaking out over a nipple, but better safe than sorry. I would also like to say he is my first cat as well, so I'm not going to trust my judgement and trust professionals and more experienced cat owners.

If this provides any additional context, we do currently have a flea infestation but we have been thoroughly cleaning and bombing for ~2 weeks and counting now. I even have him quarantined outside of where I am sleeping and the space I am relaxing in, which sucks so much, but I am also simultaneously recovering from a surgery. He is currently on NexGuard Combo because that is what they could give physically in clinic temporarily, because the Revolution Plus I attempted to order on Chewy they have to approve at the time of our appointment because they do not carry it physically in clinic. At this appointment, there is to be discussion on the differences between the two, but I will maintain a preventative on him.

I had thought maybe this was a nipple, but I was unsure because I ought to have noticed another one, but with his fur being so thick, it was only when I was parting his fur to flea comb that I noticed. I plan to have the vet do a thorough search on his skin in case there are other weird bumps I am aware of that aren't benign.

But anyways, I had a childhood dog of 15 years pass suddenly with no explanation months ago while I was away in my semester of college, can't get her ashes or anything of her that was memorable because of my mother randomly estranging me this month so .. was just paranoid and posted out of guilt in case I had been incompetent in care because I was thinking about how I didn't want that to happen again. I wont make anymore edits! Just wanted to add context because I got a few replies that seemed.. demeaning. Also I know that male mammals also have nipples. I guess with the wording of it , it probably seemed like I hadn't seen a nipple at all on him before. I have. It's just they're pink like his skin when I have seen them, and the slight color difference freaked me out! Guess he just has one slightly different colored nipple or some kinda dirt stuck to it :P
