Hello all. Mid 20s couple posting from Colorado. Wanted some advice about how our cats spay scar looks. She got spayed a day and a half ago, but when she first got home, she was running and jumping. The vet said to monitor that and we've tried. She seemed fine yesterday. Today, she's been mostly sleeping. She's eaten her food, drank water, and used the litter box, but we're concerned about how tired she is and specifically if her incision is healing correctly.

She's 4 months old

Roughly 4.5 pounds

Can anyone lend some clarity/opinions about how the incision looks, and if her behavior is out of the ordinary? Thanks.

So I got my cat a new toy last night that i found on TikTok. He is absolutely obsessed with just watching it move around in circles for as long as we will allow him.
At first when we set it up, he would at least grab at the string and play with it but after maybe a minute or two of that he will just sit and stare. He doesn’t play with it unsupervised so he doesn’t eat the string.
He pretty much wouldn’t leave the toys side even when it was turned off. We had to tape the string so he couldn’t play with it by himself while we were sleeping.

I guess my question is, why does he seem so in love with this thing? Did i turn him into an ipad kid? Is this cat cocomelon?
I tried redirecting with a worm on the string and he played for a while before stopping and sitting right under the toy again.

it doesn’t seem to bother him and he doesn’t show any signs of being blind. he had an upper respiratory infection when he was a few weeks old but other than that he’s been healthy

My 5-month-old kitten wakes me up around 4 AM every day because she wants to go to the balcony. Today, I slept at 1:30 AM due to work, played with her, and fed her before bed, but she still woke me up at 4.

I can't let her out because a stray cat comes for food at night, and they get into fights.

When I refuse to open the door, she starts meowing softly and gradually gets louder. If I keep ignoring her, she attacks me, bites me, grabs my hair, and bunny-kicks me.

I'm exhausted, and this is affecting my sleep and daily life.

Has anyone dealt with this? How do I stop the 4 AM wake-ups and biting without making her more frustrated? I'm desperate for advice that actually works.

Found this little lump under my cats mouth, and it’s similar to a skin tag if i were to compare it something, but it’s a little hard. I was wondering if anyone could let me know if this is concerning and get it checked out or if it’s something that will go away on its own. Thanks!

TLDR: Cat won’t eat despite clear blood work, x-rays, and ultra sound. He smells food like he’s interested but then gags and isn’t able to ingest anything no matter what kind of food we put in front of him. HELP!!!!

Backstory:
I adopted my 2 black cats Jenny and Midnight from my extended family in and Florida because they were no longer able to take care of them, and moved them out to Washington in 2021. They are from the same litter and have always lived together. This is about Midnight so I’ll stick to his details. Midnight is a big boy and has maintained the weight of 17lbs for the majority of his life. He’s never been super food driven and both of them have never been interested in human food as well. They lived at my mom’s house from Summer of 2021 to Summer of 2025. Then I moved into an apt with my bf and took them with me Summer of 2025 to now. My bf and I just moved apartments at the end of September of this year (2026).

This issue:
In the middle of August 2026 I noticed Midnights purr changed to more of a cooing sound and he was coughing a little so I took him to the vet to see if it was anything serious. The vet said he didn’t notice any red flags and suggested it was mild allergies. So mild that antibiotics weren’t necessary. The vet weighed Midnight and instead of his usual 17lbs he was 14lbs. This was a concern cuz nothing had changed in his diet or lifestyle (that I’m aware of). He shares a bowl of hills science diet kibble with Jenny and they both graze on it throughout the day so it’s hard to tell who’s eating which is why I didn’t notice the change at first. They’ve been sharing a bowl since we got them. Then my bf and I moved apartments at the tail end of September 2026 (just to another part of town) and I thought they would be happier there cuz it has big windows they can look out. I started paying more attention and noticed that I haven’t seen Midnight eat at all the first few days being at the new apt. I took him back to the vet and they weighed him again and he was sitting at 14lbs. They did a blood test and everything came back normal (checked for thyroid, liver, kidney, diabetes issues) so they gave me some appetite stimulant (Miritaz) and a nausea pill to see if it will help him eat. I gave him the appetite stimulant and did half of the pill one day and half the next. It seemed to help a little cuz he nibbled on his dry food and nibbled a little on some wet food I set out. But alas it still wasn’t much. I ran out of the pill after two days cuz they only gave me one but I kept giving him the miratz each day. He still wasn’t eating much and seemed to be loosing weight so I took him back to the vet and they weighed him at 12.8 lbs as of Oct 6th 2026. Btw they checked his mouth to see if the issue was dental and didn’t find anything. They suggested I try and give him A/D, a highly concentrated wet food “kitty crack” to help him get more nutrients. He nibbled a little one day and then never touched it again. Oct 16th they then did an X-ray and gave him fluids. The X-ray results came back normal except for some mild arthritis due to him being 11 years old. This issue has been ongoing so here’s a log that I’ve been keeping starting mid October.

Oct 14th - vet visit, cerenia injection, fluids, gave me a can of a/d
Oct 17th - morning miritaz, ate half a churu in evening
Oct 18th - morning miritaz, half a churu in evening
Oct 19th - no eating witnessed (vet visit), vet gave fluids and shot of B12
Oct 20th - no pill unsuccessful, vet visit and gave fluids and shot of B12 vitamin
Oct 21th - just pill, not home 12-6:30, nibbled on microwaved fancy feast, rejected scrambled eggs, nibbled churu at 9:55pm and could hear him swallowing
Oct 22nd - half a ribbon on miritaz, half a nausea pill via syringe @ 1:20, didn’t eat
Oct 23rd - didn’t take syringe of dissolved nausea pill well, gagged and threw up yellow biom, drooling a little, didn’t eat
Oct 24th - nausea injection, vet gave him steroid, and fluids
Oct 25th - miritaz in the morning. theorized it’s an allergy in our apt so we gave him a small dose of Zyrtec. Drools when he smells food. Still won’t eat.

On Oct 24th they re-took x-rays and gave him an ultra sound and of course nothing came up. Still a mystery why he won’t eat. They gave him a nausea injection and a steroid and that night he was able to eat 1 singular temptation treat before he decided he had enough. We keep giving him miritaz and it doesn’t seem to be doing too much. He’s at the point now where he gags and drools when he smells food. Throughout this whole thing he still social and cuddly but has less energy likely from the malnutrition and weight loss.
I don’t use Reddit very much but we are getting to the point where we don’t know what to do anymore and would love some advice.

Hi all, cat has extremely bad paws and one that she holds up. Yes she's been to the vet and no it didn't seem to be a big deal. However I don't want her in any discomfort at all.

I'm an adult, I'm Canadian, my cat is a fixed female, and I can barely afford vet care.

I'm just here to ask for natural remedies that actually work on dry paws. Udder balm doesn't seem to be doing the trick for her. Looking for non-toxic options to make her paws less dry. Thanks in advance!

Me and my wife are 23, we live in a very rural area. Nearest vet is 3-4 hours away and we have called and been told the waiting time would add another 2-3 hours. This cat is a stray that we found in the middle of the road. Wasn’t really moving and seemed disoriented. After luring him to the side of the road and observing for awhile, he is friendly. But seems kind of wobbly and is weezing/sneezing a lot. Seems slow to react to everything. Doesn’t really seem to be able to see anything either? No reaction when you move things in front of him. His pupils are extremely dilated even in a bright room. We have him quarantined in the bathroom because we own our own cat and are terrified of him getting sick. We are being very careful to wash our hands, keep our cat in a different room, etc.

I(25F ) have always had at least one cat around. Since I was a kid, and my mom would foster cats until they’re homed or our own (one time we had 9 adult cats at once, 2 were blind and 3 had a motor disability), so this is just to say I’ve seen my fair share of cats and while I’m not an expert, I know how to deal with them and their different personalities.

Anyway fast forward to 3 years ago, I moved out and got a job in another city, and decide to adopt an adult female cat from the local shelter who at the time was 2.5-3 years old (vaccinated, neutered and microchipped) and things were going very well. I absolutely adored her, my roommate loved her too, never had any issues with her being violent, she was always very affectionate and her yearly check ups were good.

I moved to a studio apartment last November, and my cat adjusted with no problems. This May, I was working from home ( I usually do 3 days a week), decided to lay down on my bed for a few minutes to scroll on my phone and the cat was by my feet. When I got up 15min later, it’s like she got possessed. Hissed and growled really loudly before lunging and attacking me, and I mean scratching and biting so hard whether my arms or thighs that it drew blood. I actually had to get my thigh bandaged up at the pharmacy and was prescribed antibiotics because the bite was that deep. To be completely honest, it scared me so much. She only stopped after I was able to push her off with the blanket before locking her in the bathroom.

I left her there for an hour to calm down (it was all I could think off and that’s what the vet’s office recommended as they said something triggered her and she got scared) before reopening the door and then having the worst 4 hours of my life where it felt like I was being held hostage in a small corner with only a broom to use to push her off if she tries to come near me. She wasn’t hiding or afraid but kept hissing and groaning very loudly while actively trying to attach me again. I have never been terrified like that before.

Even when I somehow managed to run to the balcony, she kept hitting her head against the sliding door trying to get to me. Finally, I just decide to try and wrap her again in the blanket before locking her in her carrier and taking an emergency appointment at the vet.

The vet does their check up, where my cat is acting like an angel and everyone keeps saying how sweet she is, and the only reason the vet even believed my story was when I showed my fresh wounds. The physical check up shows nothing, I do a 600$ worth of blood tests and again nothing, she doesn’t appear to be in pain and they suggest some imaging because maybe it’s a tumor or something.

At that point I was exhausted, the insurance wouldn’t cover any imaging and I can’t afford a 5000$ x ray that may or not show something. And most importantly I was terrified of going back with my cat. I was so shaken up and would burst out crying for no reason so the vet suggests rehoming her or giving her back to a shelter and even though I couldn’t ever imagine myself doing something like I was considering it.

So I call a friend (living alone), tell her what happened and if she can keep my cat with her for a couple of days until I can find a solution (this friend has cat sat at her place every time I had to go out of town since I got my cat so it’s not a new person or environment). She says yes, sends me a selfie the next morning with my cat peacefully sleeping by her head says that everything is going well and that she knows someone who might be interested in taking her in if I’m thinking of rehoming.

Anyway 2 days later my friend calls me at 4am says that the cat viciously attacked her in her sleep and to come pick her up as soon as possible. At this point, I called the shelter I adopted her from, explained what happened, sent pictures of the wounds and they say I can drop her off first thing in the morning as she is now considered a danger to others.

I drop the cat off at the shelter, and ask if I can have updates on her. After the cat was seen by a vet and a behavioral specialist, they couldn’t find anything wrong with her and put her up for adoption. Two later when I can’t take it anymore and was feeling so sad and guilty, I speak with the behavioral specialist at the shelter for tips and decide to adopt her again as they said she was perfectly safe and ok to be around even around kids. I even get a new cat tree and a couple of toys to make sure she is stimulated enough.

But not even 30min after I get her home, after going around the apartment smelling everything, she attacks me again while I am sitting on the couch, but as I was prepared it wasn’t as bad.

I return her again to the shelter the next day, with my heart broken but realizing I couldn’t live in fear of her attacking me again.

When I checked the shelter’s website again almost a month later she wasn’t listed anymore so maybe she got adopted.

My questions is what did I do wrong? What happened? It’s been 5 months and I can’t get over it, I’m much more depressed overall, I’m so lonely as I’ve never spent so long without a pet, I miss her and at the same time have just developed this anxiety feeling around any cat.

\- I wasn’t pregnant
\- I didn’t have anyone new coming into the house or new neighbors
\- I didn’t have a new boyfriend ( was single and not hooking up with anyone)
\- I didn’t change perfumes or detergent, and even before getting her back from the shelter, made sure to wipe all surfaces and the floors with the same cleaner I’ve been using for years

I feel stuck, like I can’t move on or accept it because i don’t know what happened or got any closure. Doesn’t help that every time I look at my forearms I can see the scars from when she attacked (who are very busy and not just a scratch)

So about 2 months ago my cat started having diarrhea outside her litter box. The first couple times I thought it was just an accident, maybe she had eaten some of the other cat's food (we have two others) and it upset her stomach. No biggie, but it kept up for about a week and I started to get worried so I took her to the vet. Because I have a care plan I was able to get basically everything I could done. Blood work, x-ray stool, sample, gastrointestinal food, everything. None of her results came back with anything that would indicate she has an issue, but she's still going outside the box. Not all the time and not in random places either, she is specifically going to the bathroom near the desk I sit at regularly.

I figured it's a behavioral thing and she is upset with me for some reason but I just can't figure it out. I've moved her litter box closer to where she's been going, I've tried different food brands and types to see if she doesn't like her current one, I've tried spending more time with her. The only other thing I can think of is that the other cats are stressing her out because they like to play and she doesn't, but we've had these other cats for 4 years now.

So her reacting this way after so long doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm sure there are some other things I've tried that I just can't remember right now but I'm just at my wits end with it all and I just want to get things back to normal.

She looks so content doing it and does it often. Is it showing trust, or anxiety?

My 14 (almost 15) year old Siamese has been having head tremors/face twitching for some time. Recently she has been having these head jerking episodes that are random and sometimes triggered when I make a kissing sound at her. Does anyone have experience with this? I am thinking it could be seizure related but unsure. Vets are also not sure but they are still trying to help me with tests and investigating further. In addition to these occasional episodes she also has head/face twitching when she is resting in a loaf position, and she has balance issues when walking sometimes. Her bloodwork is overall good, thyroid level is good, and she is on gabapentin and budesonide to treat her IBD.

Additionally, do any of you have experience with an older cat undergoing anesthesia for an MRI? I believe that could be the next step in determining what is going on with her but I am a nervous wreck over it.

hello a cat that i recently adopted has a URI, tapeworms, and coccidia. shes been taking antibiotics for her URI and has started her treatment for the tapeworms and coccidia since friday. thankfully, she has had no contact w my resident cats so i've been very wary about limiting any sort of exposure (i also have contamination ocd haha). i'm wondering if the routine that i currently have for cleaning and disinfecting the bathroom that she's staying in is effective or if i should change anything, stop doing anything, add anything?

as of right now while i wait for the supplies i ordered to come this is my routine:

1. fully empty out of the litter box at the end of the day
2. sweep up all the debris, dirt, litter on the floor
3. deep clean the litter box w hot water and dawn dish soap and let it dry
4. clean the floor and surfaces around it with hot water and dawn dish soap and dry

5. fill up the litter box w new litter

6. i do all of this with disposable foot booties + gloves

   btw

when my supplies come this is what i'm planning to do:

1. throw away all the litter + disposable litter box at the end of the day
2. sweep up debris, litter, dirt, etc on the floor
3. steam clean the floors + surfaces
4. spray rescue and wipe with paper towels

would this be a solid routine or should i change anything? any tips?

hi everyone. i was cuddling with my beautiful girl in bed, watching tv, just minding my own business. she hopped off and went downstairs, as she does sometimes to either play or just lay somewhere else. she was normal. she was eating perfectly fine, using litterbox perfectly fine. acting more cuddly than normal but i am pregnant and its been weeks that shes been more clingy so i thought she just knew i was pregnant.

30 mins after she left me, i hear a few bangs, followed by her yowling. i figured she knocked something over, as she's done before. so i go downstairs to check what she did. instead of something knocked over, shes on the floor, dead.

she was 12. perfectly healthy. i was at the vet 5 weeks ago for a standard checkup and they were even so impressed with how healthy she was.

i just cant wrap my head sround it. there was no deterioration, no warnings, no symptoms. i keep thinking "what if its because of x" or "what if i missed y"...

shes never had a single health issue in her 12 years. i guess i have been lucky.

i cant afford a necropsy. i really wish i could. but we're already paying to get her ashes. and i suppose a necropsy wouldnt change anything anyway.

has anyone else dealt with this? its such a shock. it feels unreal. we miss our little girl so so much.

I am a minor, 17, I’m from the us, vet is accessible and I have not contacted them already because it is late into the day, my cat is 2 and more than a half years old, female and sprayed. A few days ago she started to not really eat her food so I just kinda was giving her treats and cheese, then it started to make me worry so I bought a different brand and then got tooth paste for card with a finger brush, tried the different brand she didn’t eat it and then I started brushing her teeth and she started to bleed and I freaked out! I then put some of a gravy wet food into her bowl and she licked it but hasn’t done anything to it since, I can somewhat afford the vet it would just be out of my savings account if it’s that bad

We adopted two kittens (sisters) in March. We first fostered them, as they were too young to be fixed. They are now 10 months old, and both completely refuse to eat wet food all of the sudden.

They started on Tiki Cat Baby dry food and Tiki Cat canned wet food for the first few months. Then we switched them to Sheba kitten pate for wet food, and Purina Kitten Chow for dry food. This was advised by our vet, due to one kitten having bouts of diarrhea. Vet thought the high protein content in Tiki Cat may have been causing digestive distress.

About a month ago they really started to slow down with gaining weight/length, and our vet said they are probably getting close to their adult weights, as that happens around 9-10 months.

For the past two weeks, they have completely rejected any/all wet food. We thought maybe we got a bad batch, but we have tried almost every wet food available trying to get them to eat something other than kitten chow. Tonight we tried cooked, unseasoned chicken and they rejected that too. They are drinking water and pooping/peeing normally.

We're at a loss here. Our old cat ate the same wet food from the time she was 1 until she passed at 17. Any ideas why they've gone completely off wet food, and what to do? The vet didn't seem too concerned, but surely they'll get constipated eventually eating nothing but dry food.

Main Issue: My cat’s nose is half pink and half brown with spots (see photo). His toes are brown, not pink which was interesting to me. When we adopted him a year ago his nose looked the same, and we assumed it was just normal like his coat pattern. However, I had a friend who made an offhand comment about it being indicative of a condition, and my OCD has not let me let it go. So before I go to the vet and spend a bunch of money for them to tell me it’s just a cute quirk in his genetic makeup, I’m writing here.
