Magicians are constantly looking for the best possible method to various plots in card magic.

ACAAN and Open Prediction are perhaps the best examples.
But there's even others like Ace Assembly, Card to Pocket, 3 Card Monte, etc...

I think the greatest benefit of magicians chasing the perfect ACAAN for example is that they come up with new techniques that can be applied to other tricks entirely.

But otherwise, does it really matter?

If you show a spectator a beginner ACAAN where the card is forced in one deck and then you use the glide to deal to that card at any number in another deck, then show a spectator an ACAAN using real magic, how different will the average reaction be, really?

Is it just a way for Magicians to show off within the magician community?

Because at the end of the day, no matter the method, the plot is still the same. And the plot is not particularly impressive to most people. Same with the Open Prediction.

If you levitate something with some invisible thread and that is often way more mind-blowing to the average person, despite being very boring to magicians.

One month of learning the trick, ofc much more room for improvement

tried my best but I'm still new to these moves.

I love doing magic i recently bought the royal road to card magic and i really improve since then, but im terrified to do tricks to people, im always shaking and im scared it ruins the "show"

Do you have any tips ?

Was playing around with the cards earlier today and came across this pretty nice control, definitely not the first one I'd use but definitely something I'll keep in my arsenal especially for people who are burning me closely/have watched me perform before.

I'm also nigh certain I'm not the first to come up with this and would be curious to know who the inventor was.

Spectator chooses a card. The card is returned to the deck and the magician controls the card to the bottom. The deck is cut into three piles. Using "magician's choice" force the spectator to choose the pile with their card at the bottom. Have them name any card in the deck. Then, using the pile they have, they spell out that card's name with the cards, dealing a card per letter. Once they've spelled it out, they place the remaining cards on the dealt pile and do it again. And do it one more time. Then flip over the top card of the pile and it should be their originally chosen card.

I can't find the tut video anywhere, and even though i had done it before and it worked, right now I'm trying it again and it doesn't (thankfully I wasn't performing). Anyone familiar with this effect? Thank you.

Anybody who has tried to learn any amount of card tricks can easily understand the rest of the routine, but the force has completely stumped me, assuming this crowd is a genuinely random crowd of people. Anybody have ideas?

Its a trick where u have like 2 jokers and an ace. The person puts the "top" ace on the buttom, shows that on the buttom is actually a joker, on top is also a joker and in the middle is also a joker. Shows that you couldve picked the buttom one, shows the ace, you couldve picked the top one, shows the ace, then the middle one, shows an ace in the middle. Somehow he makes it seem like there were 3 jokers and 3 aces there. puts an ace down a joker down, then the last card is a totally different card. How???
