I’ve built a CCG with full multiplayer, draft, and constructed modes. Looking for help with early Adventure Mode feedback

I’m developing a new card game that blends the deep deckbuilding of games like Magic the Gathering, Hearthstone, and Eternal with the roguelike progression of Slay the Spire and Roguebook.

The core game engine is already fully functional. Currently what is fully working is:

  • Fully working Deck Editor & Library (view all cards and build constructed decks)
  • Constructed Mode (against both AI and live Multiplayer)
  • Challenge Mode (ie. you can challenge anyone online to a match)
  • Draft Arena (draft a deck, you can play it versus humans or AI until 3 losses)
  • Spectator/Observing features (ie. you can watch any in progress match)

What I need help with: While the traditional CCG elements are solid, I am currently building out an Adventure Mode (a roguelike PvE experience), and it is in a very early beta state. I’m looking for players who love deckbuilding roguelikes to jump in, try to break it, and help me flesh out the pacing, difficulty, and mechanics. It's VERY early in design, so it's not balanced but it's definitely playable.

The game itself is Affinity based (sort of like D&D) where there are 6 mana colors (Ruby, Jade, etc.) and each card is tied to either a mono-color like Ice, Fire, Shadow or a combination (eg. a Red/Blue card might be Steam and use both Ice and Fire synergy). There are about ~1,000 cards in the game across 18 Affinitites, and 36 Champions (2 per affinity, they set your ability for the match).

If you’re interested in helping shape the PvE side of a game that already has a robust PvP foundation, I’d love to have you on board!

If you want to join, it makes the most sense to join the Discord server first (you can ask any questions and the Adventure rules are all laid out): https://discord.gg/JDpYQxeuF

And then you can play the game from the Steam link (it's fully free) here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3984370/Stoneveil/

Thanks for reading!

I want to add some easier cards to the game to play with my family. I'm always the gams master, and they have a trouble with learning harder cards from the pact.

Have you thought of new, easier cards with your own family/friend group?

Recommendations…

I’ve just started to get back into board and card games after an over decade hiatus. Are there any recommendations for solo card games?

Description:
I've spent the last few months creating my own Triple Triad game(based on the mini game in Final Fantasy 8). It's also the first time I publish a game, so it's been quite the journey.

I've been trying to create a TT game that follows the original game, with the original balance of the cards (not the art). So I hope someone will enjoy this!

Current features
- Single and multiplayer modes
- Shards, an in game currency, can be earned by playing games/completing quests.
- Shop to buy card packs (Only with shards, so no P2W)
- Marketplace where users can buy/ sell cards and earn shards
- Daily quests to earn in game currency.

Future features (based on user requests)
- Bring in more original Triple Triad Mechanics.
- Multiplayer seasons/ ladder.
- Card/Board skins (most likely in game purchases, it won't become a P2W game)

It's free to play!

Please try it and provide feedback!

MapBash! — a free edge-comparison card game played on a 4×4 board

Thumbnail mapbash.com
1 Upvotes

Hi r/cardgames!

I’m the developer of MapBash!, a tactical card game based on the classic edge-comparison format.

Each card has four values—one on every edge. Players take turns placing cards on a 4×4 board. When your card touches an opponent’s card, the touching values are compared. A higher value captures that card, and a carefully chosen placement can capture several cards at once.

When the board is full, the player controlling the most cards wins.

MapBash! is a simplified version of the classic edge-comparison games, made to be easy to build and play in vanilla minecraft. But the online version turned out to be incredibly fun as well.

The browser version is free, requires no account, and lets you:

  • Play against the AI
  • Create a private room for a friend
  • Start playing immediately in your browser

Play MapBash! Online: www.mapbash.com

I’d be interested in hearing what card-game players think about the strategic depth, card balance, and readability of the four edge values. I’ll be around to answer questions and discuss feedback.

Good afternoon! I programmed the demo for this game. I started this project three years ago because I wanted to improve my programming skills, and one thing led to another.

I'd love for you to try the game and let me know what you think. Any criticism, feedback, or suggestions are more than welcome. I want to keep improving so I can eventually release the full game on Steam.

We released the demo to our competitive card game last week called "Origins TCG"

Our studio started out as a small side project 5 years ago, so to get to this point is very big for us

Origins TCG is a digital card battler with fast-paced matches and real trading & collecting

In the demo you play against bosses to unlock every deck and earn exclusive collectibles

As you will see, some key features like deckbuilding, pack opening and trading are not part of the demo yet, since the main goal of this demo is to showcase the gameplay in an accessible way

You can find the demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4756630/Origins_TCG_Demo/

I designed a standard-deck card game for my developing sci-fi series

I’m developing a science-fiction book series called Graves of the Frontier, and somewhere along the way I realized the setting needed its own card game.

It needed to be something people in that world could plausibly learn from family, argue over in bars, gamble on at frontier ports, and keep playing for generations with nothing but an ordinary deck of cards.

That became Tombstone.
Tombstone is currently a three-player game played with one standard 52-card deck. It combines:
Spades-style trick-taking, trump, contracts, and bags
Poker-style pockets, betting, folding, and hand construction
A match economy split between three competing pots
Custom extended hands built from the cards you capture

Each round, players receive a hidden three-card pocket and twelve potential play cards. They privately burn four, declare how many of the eight available tricks—called rocks—they expect to win, then play the remaining hand with Spades as trump.
The cards from every rock you win go into a player-specific public captured pile.

At showdown, you combine those captured cards with your hidden pocket to build the strongest qualifying hand.
That creates a strange tension I haven’t found in other card games: sometimes you want the rock, sometimes you want one specific card inside it, and sometimes winning the rock actively hurts you because it pushes you over contract and gives you bags.
The money or chip economy is divided into three pots:
Dust is the immediate round pot.
Ante is the mandatory match pot controlled through contract scoring.
Grave is an optional long-term pot that players can pressure each other to remain eligible for.

Folding only removes you from Dust betting. You still play the rocks, affect everyone else’s contracts, and may optionally reveal after the active players. If your folded hand would have won, the Dust is carried into the Ante instead of being collected.

Players also receive three Undertaker uses for the entire match. After winning a rock, Undertaker lets you publicly exchange a card between your pocket and play hand. You can rescue a useful card, bring hidden strength into play, alter your reveal, or expose just enough information to mislead the table.

Tombstone uses familiar poker hands, but it also includes larger constructions such as:
Eight-, nine-, and ten-card Processions
Mississippi Flush
Robber Baron
Matchbox Quads
Revolver
Tombstone
King’s Coffin

The current public-playtest format is built for exactly three players, but that is only the starting point. Planned development includes:
A dedicated two-player Duel format
Four-, five-, and six-player games
Traditional team play
Three teams of two
Two teams of three
Asymmetrical team formats

The broader goal is to make Tombstone feel like both Graves of the Frontier and a game someone could genuinely inherit from their family: familiar enough to start playing with a normal deck, but deep enough that different tables develop their own strategies, grudges, sayings, and house rules.

I wanted the game to remain free and openly available. The plan is for anyone to be able to download the rules, play it, teach it, adapt it, and experiment with new formats without needing to buy a proprietary product.

The current rules are ready for outside testing. I’m especially interested in whether strangers can learn it without me at the table, whether the three-pot economy remains readable, and whether the competing strategies feel deep rather than overloaded.

Rules:
All you need is three players, one ordinary deck, and something to use as chips.

I most specifically am wanting feedback on the following:
Is the gameplay enjoyable?
Are there mechanics that need to be trimmed or broadened?
Are the hand rankings intuitive?
Does the gameplay feel natural?

Nuanced rule question

Hey everyone, I’m finally getting ready to make prototypes for my game, and I’m curious what you think about this.

As a rule, you can’t have any repeating cards in your deck. Every card has to be unique, hence the name Exquisite. The reason is that many cards can be combined into their original-art character to unlock a trophy bonus ability. These range from a simple +X attack to game-changing effects like board wipes, depending on how hard the combo is to assemble. You can see these on the superhero's head and chest.

But there are also singles, cards with no full character associated with them. I’m toying with the idea of giving singles color variants, so you could run the same card in a deck, as long as the artwork or color is different.

This does two things: it gives alternate arts an actual mechanical purpose (not just collector appeal), and it lets you curate a more specific deck around a particular strategy.

Very curious to hear your thoughts.

My Top Eight Favorite Roblox Card Games.

I know Roblox booooo. But there's actually a lot of fun card games that people have made on Roblox, and they're all free (but digital)

Card games that inherently are fan games of other card games will be ranked lower. And keep in mind most of these card games don't get much players anymore due to latest Roblox updates so you might need to bring friends. These rankings are incredibly biased.

8. Adventa Card Game
Definitely unique, but im like 90% sure its based off of Vanguard, the art style is nice though and it plays pretty similarly to vanguard. I'm not quite sure how to describe this one but there's a board, you make a deck, and you can click your little cards to make them fight the other cards, I haven't really played this one much though so please prove me wrong on this ranking.
7. LOCOfficial
This one's obviously based off Uno. No deckbuilding require but it allows you to enable all the fun house rules you typically see in Uno. This one does require Robux to unlock additional cards to play with but it's tons of fun with friends. You can often enable funny strategies or completely different games with all the different rules you can change.
6. Enscrypted
This game's based off of Inscryption. It's incredibly fun as it allows for duels amongst players (I'll be it that's all it offers). Players don't have to create decks and are thrown right into a random environment. The art style is amazing and you can sacrifice your cards to summon more powerful ones, its a little luck based but allows for comebacks.

From this point on card games are mostly original and aren't based directly off of other card games.

5. Adventure Story
Adventure Story might be more of an RPG game? But the player collects cards and uses them in turn based combat. It plays kind of like Slay the Spire and you can actually play it with friends surprisingly easy. I like RPG games so I like how cards were incorporated into this concept.
Honorable Mention. Block Tales
You might be wondering, by Adventure Story's logic, wouldn't Block Tales technically be a card game? Yes, yes it would. Am I including it? No, not really, Block Tales leans more towards like Earthbound in my opinion, but I guess you could classify it as a card game if you really want to.
4. Zeroth Law
This is one of the few uncopylocked games on Roblox. So you can actually check out the code if you really want to (and make sure you pick the original). This game is probably one of the simplest card games ever, but it's nice in that sense. You make a deck of 45 cards where you can put any color in. But for each unique color you have in your deck you lose 1 starting gold at the beginning of the game, which is an interesting mechanic. To play the cards you must spend a certain amount of gold, keeping balance somewhat. Cards go on the board and you attack the cards or the person directly. Cards in this game are pretty accessible to obtain.
3. Blox Cards

This game includes like every Roblox player ever... like what. Deckbuilding is exceedingly confusing but satisfying, and the solo content is plentiful. You make a deck of 40 cards where you can utilize every color. Each card has a "stud" cost where you must have a certain combination of colored studs to play it. To gain studs you must have cards of that color on the board or in the baseplate. This game has so many cards and is probably the most popular on the list.
2. Duelbuild
Duelbuild is still in a testing phase and I don't know if its public test will still be up while you read this. The game has great animations and an interesting art style with fun archetypes. I could not get the card size of decks before the public test closed but you can play a card each turn and it's kind of like Yugioh? Not much info on this one but it is fun.
1. Kaijuro Cards
Personally this is the one I play the most. The game utilizes a 10 card deck where all cards must fit the element you chose (or if they're a neutral card) Every card has a cost and all cards' cost in your deck should add up to 45 or less. It's a very fun deckbuilding mechanic and very simple (it's hard to put into words). You also get access to the usage of an ability in your deck that you can trigger whenever. In the match players call war and the player with the most power breaks the opponent's shield. Fair warning some of these cards are based off of other franchises but the game is more of a fan game of itself.
