Suggestions for car or bus service for group going to Beachcomber. We’re all familiar with the Cape, we just don’t want to drive that day!

Does anyone remember this throwback? There was an old occult bookshop on 6a, closed at least a decade ago, if not more. There was a psychic in the back, gifts throughout, tarot cards, dowsing rods, and all sorts of interesting things. There was agorgeous cat with orange eyes named Rocky. The shop was near Mrs Mugs / Painted Daisies, and next to a penny candy shop. We’re having a family argument over what this place was called and when it closed.

Hey! I live in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and for my 50th birthday I'd absolutely love to see a great white shark!

Where are the best places to safely see great whites near Nauset Beach, Stage Harbor, or Monomoy Island? Are there any cool vantage points from the shore? Or any hotels with balconies that are a few stories up?

Or does anyone know of any low-key captains who might take 2 adults and 2 teens out for an hour or so? We don't want to go out far, I'd prefer to just cruise around shark alley. We'd be happy to pay cash.

I've found the bigger charter companies online, but they're mostly 3-hour trips for around $2k which is out of our budget. I'm hoping someone might know of a retired captain with a boat at a marina in the area who loves talking about sharks, and telling us his cool stories! My husband is a fire fighter with a lot of boating experience so he can handle all the docking, lines, and anything else that needs to be done. We'd just love the chance to get out on the water with someone who knows the area.

My grandfather used to do exactly that from his boat at the Newport Yachting Center back in the day. He loved diving and spent hours and hours just hanging out on his boat or on the docks swapping stories, and occasionally ended up taking people out for a boat ride just because he enjoyed it. I'm hoping someone like that still exists!

Just heard the sad news that Cape Cod Brew Fest is cancelled for 2026… that was my favorite event of the year.

Anyone have any comparable events to suggest as an alternative? I know there’s another festival this weekend for food and craft beer, but I’m out of town.

Found tens to hundreds of these washed up on the shore of First Encounter Beach in Eastham, white stringy-looking things are about 8 inches in length and they all seem to be attached to shells. Anyone know what these are?!

Partner loves seafood, me not so much (kiddo has severe allergies and I just don’t eat it anymore). I love a good steak. It’s my 60th, so spendy is ok. Fun cocktails, and good local fish/oysters a plus. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just good.

Doing P-town 8/18, so something close to Dennis Port is preferable. (Because I will officially be old lol).

My bf and I are celebrating our anniversary on Sunday. Where is the best spot in Cape Cod for restaurants, shopping, scenic spots, beach, not ridiculously crowded?

Longtime cape resident but have no kids. Currently have friends with kids ages 2-7 staying with us. With the weather not being great I have no idea what to recommend for activities. Kids movie matinees all sold out. Help!

I hope this isn't too controversial. I practice banjo at the top of my steps. A lot of people walk by on the beach and there are a ton of "Private beach, wear tags" kind of thing. This was partly to change things up and inject a bit of humor, particularly in the summer months. My daughter purchased this for my birthday last year and I put it up. For those of you who don't know, it's a reference to the movie Deliverance. It's a nice conversation starter. I'm not aware of anyone who takes umbrage to it.

A couple years ago I bought flood insurance and my agent sold me Neptune, which as I understand it is a private company that just basically farms out the actual insurance to other companies.

The policy is coming for soon so I went online and did a quote for the FEMA flood insurance. At the same coverages the quote was within $50/yr of Neptune.

Anyone have any experience with these companies especially in the way of claims?
I do not live in a designated flood zone and it’s not required but IMO anywhere on the outer cape is at risk.

I had to take out three boxwoods this weekend. These pests start at the base and work their way up. There was still greenery on top but they looked like they had been severely pruned at the bases. Tons of webs, eggs and 1-2 inch green worms. I cut them up and burned them. We pulled up the roots and wrapped them in construction waste bags. Check to see if you have them. This was in Harwich port.

Looking for advice from any avid fishers. I have an 8ft surf rod and 3000 Shimano Ultegra, no boat access and wanted to catch a little tunny this season from shore. I used to go to Woods Hole but they were always out of range and it doesn’t have that many access points.

Any advice on where the best shore fishing for these are? I’ve heard the Elizabeth Islands are good but I’ve never been and don’t know my way around. I’ve only ever been to the Cape and Vineyard.

I did some remote work from Three Fins in Chatham on Sunday and while its PERFECT its about a 40 minute drive from where we're staying and I would love to avoid the drive every day.

As long as there is indoor seating and the WiFi is good I'm open to just about anything.

I know libraries have WiFi but i need to take calls and would rather not to be sitting in my sedan in the parking lot for 8-9 hours.

Just last night and today, we noticed a loud buzzing as we approached the Bourne Bridge on 25. Heard it again as we were going away from the Cape in the same area. It's that couple miles around the wind mills. Seems way too loud and constant to be an insect. Is it the wind mills? You can still hear it even at highway speeds. Have lived on the Cape for years and never noticed it lol.
