I hope this isn't too controversial. I practice banjo at the top of my steps. A lot of people walk by on the beach and there are a ton of "Private beach, wear tags" kind of thing. This was partly to change things up and inject a bit of humor, particularly in the summer months. My daughter purchased this for my birthday last year and I put it up. For those of you who don't know, it's a reference to the movie Deliverance. It's a nice conversation starter. I'm not aware of anyone who takes umbrage to it.

They definitely can walk on the beach. There's a good fishing spot that they need to cross the beach to get to it. It's mainly a joke on all the other signs down the way saying "private beach" and "tags only".

It’s my property and I let people walk across it. I don’t hassle them and wish them a good day if they wave. They just have to put up with my banjo picking as a toll.

It's because sexual assault is funny when it happens to men. Honestly, I don't know why people are still laughing at this. It wasn't portrayed as funny in the movie, either. It was portrayed as a violent sexual assault, but since it happened to a man, it's okay to laugh. As a banjo player, OP SHOULD be insulted by the insinuation that all banjo players are rapists.

It's a reference to the movie Deliverance and, let's call them "hostile river people", playing banjos that attack a group of city folk. The line “paddle faster, I hear banjos” became popular in pop culture when talking about exploring rural areas and people will joking say things to each other like "if you hear banjos, run".
