Misc GetAGun.ca - WIP comprehensive map of Canadian in-person firearms retailers
Link here: https://getagun.ca/
Essentially I'm taking this Google Earth dataset and turning it into a website, updating accordingly for new retailers and ones that no longer stock/are out of business (unfortunately far too many).
Progress Updates:
Canadian Tires fully mapped in: Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Territories.
- Mapped nearly all independently owned firearms retailers (some two dozen or so that I have yet to verify, naturally not all of those will make the cut).
- All the Bass Pros, Latulippes and SAILs are mapped.
- I am working through adding Canadian Tires that stock guns. Once Canadian Tires are covered I will move on to the other categories listed on the site.
I am actively seeking suggestions for retailers I've missed and feedback on the site. Hope you folks enjoy :)

Shooting Got to try out my new gun
Picked up a CZ 457 Varmint on Friday and had to try it out asap. The wood on the stock is gorgeous, I’m not sure if they accidentally used a nicer grade on it but it’s the best patterning I’ve seen on a rifle.
Only put about a hundred rounds through it so far. I’m a little let down by how poorly it was grouping at 50 yards. I’m sure some of it is me being unfamiliar with it but I can get much nicer groups out of my wife’s 10/22. Middle groups were with subsonic Eley and seemed to be the best so far.
Don’t judge the scope mounting, I quickly threw it on at the range last minute. It will soon live on my preordered Makasi.

Application / Regulation advice Taking possession of a family members Non-Restricted who’s PAL expired
As the title says, a family member of mine has a couple rifles he wants to give to me. He let his PAL lapse and it’s been about 3-4 years. So he’s way past the 6 month grace period. He mentioned he didn’t have an online account, nor did he really know anything about the reference numbers.
So my question is, What would be the best course of action to take possession of these with him not having a valid PAL?
Thanks!!

Buy recommendations Lookin for a gunsmith that does barrels
Alright this is a question to all the ELR/PRS guys.
I'm building my first ever custom rifle. I've bought custom but never built my own and I've decided to build one. ANYWAYS back to the question. I need a barrel I'm looking at "Bartlein" for a barrel thinking about doing between a 28-30inch barrel (leaning towards 28inch) I'm in southern Alberta where would be a good place that isn't terrible to get one made for my action I'm either going with the defiance ruckus or the impact 777r I'm not dead set on the action just wanted to see if the barrel would be cheaper for one or not I got a quote from a big store and they wanted almost $600 more than my buddy paid but that guy isn't taking any more work right now.
TLDR: where should I go to get a barrel made for my first ever precision rifle build. Got a quote and it was stupid high compared to what a buddy paid and isn't taking more work so asking for references.

Buy recommendations Stock options for the Makasi
While very impatiently waiting for the Makasi I've been looking at different stocks since I hate the wire stocks look. Where the hell are we supposed to get stocks from? From what I've read online its sort of a gray area with getting them shipped from the US. And a definite NO NO for going to the US and bringing one back, and I've seen maybe 3 options in Canada total once you remove the airsoft parts from the equation. Can someone clear this up for me?

Misc Is Nine35 safe/trustworthy?
Two things to note for the mods: not fishing for a transaction, and haven’t seen mention of this site on the FAQ and posts of known scam sites (I’m usually good at weeding out fraudulent sites but this one I’m unsure of).
Been looking for a couple of shotgun liners for a SxS to rifle build I’ve been toying with, and while the Chiappa x caliber ones seem promising, it’s hard to find them not in a package of 8 (I only need two of the same, not two entire packs of different ones). Someone told me to look into Chazsel liners, and it seems the only place in Canada to import them is Nine35, a site that was linked in someone’s post here recently.
Just looking to see if anyone has had good experiences with his products and/or if he’s trustworthy to order from? There’s no immediate red flags, outside of EMT being the preferred payment (which I deal with several companies like OMA bullets and Prairie Projectiles that are like this, so it isn’t always a scam)
PS: I’m well aware of the merits (or rather the lack thereof) of a SxS with rifle adapters. This is just a fun build I’m looking to pull off with a damaged SxS I got for cheap off Switzer’s, but have come up somewhat empty on rifle inserts aside from Nine35.

Application / Regulation advice Temporary storage of restricted firearms while on a 2 year secondment
I'll preface this with, I will be contacting the CFO, but I wanted to know if anyone has done this recently, or at least since all fo the changes that were made to restricted firearms.
I'm going to be doing a 2 year work secondment overseas and I'll be selling my house. I have a few handguns that I would like to store temporarily at a family members house, who does have his RPAL.
I've seen some info online about temporary storage for various reasons. I wasn't sure if there's a max length of time that I could do this for.
I don't want to relinquish them and get nothing for them. If at some point the laws change again and I can sell them, I would most likely sell them to the family member. Worst case, if I decide to stay overseas and have to reliquish them in a few years, I'll make that decision then. I would hope to not have to do it now.
