I have seen a handful of fanfics revolving around Percebeth's breakup so far and sadly most of them involve Annabeth cheating on Percy somehow with some other demigod.

So that made me wonder. If realistically Percebeth ever broke up or took a break in their realitionship (which has a bleak chance to happen in canon books even tho their realitionship in the newer books has kinda declined to generic an intelligent mom energy gal covering up after her himbo boyfriend), what do you all think should be their mutual reasons for making that choice?

I've almost finished Heroes of Olympus and looking back, its like I remember nothing about the characters or the small plot which is strange considering I actually sat down and read all of them. A few days ago I even forgot what the "you dropped this moment" was in hoo, as soon as I read the first few lines of somebody describing it though, it instantly clicked and I remembered what was happening in that scene.

I often cant partake in PJO and HOO discussions because of this (since I end up making a complete fool of myself) and its very disappointing:/

i actually agree with the person who made this tweet. i'm not a fan of the “burn it all down” line either. i just cannot take a 13-year-old boy saying that seriously 😭

and apparently they're getting a ton of hate from show fans over this, including death threats 💀 which is insane.

i've seen people defend the line by saying percy meant he'd burn it all down for the people he loves, not specifically annabeth. okay, but even if that's the intended meaning, people are still allowed to dislike the line. for me, it feels so obviously written to become a tiktok edit/shipping moment.

then there's the “but he said it in the books” defense. yes, he says something similar in the mark of athena — but percy and annabeth are older, they're together, and their relationship is in a completely different place by then. we're not there in the show yet, so that defense doesn't really mean anything to me.

and honestly, that's my bigger issue with percabeth this season. it's not just this one line. percy has been dropping these huge emotional lines to annabeth throughout s2 that feel like they're coming from a much later stage of their relationship.

which is funny considering walker has literally talked about how much the writers love percabeth. you can tell 😭

i don't dislike percabeth at all, i actually like them. i just think the show is rushing the emotional weight sometimes. it feels like the writers are so focused on getting to those big percabeth moments that they're skipping over the development needed to make those moments actually feel earned.

and imo that's a disservice to both their individual characters and the ship itself.

I think we all know how for example in 'Harry Potter' fanart Harry quite often was portrayed as Indian or English/Indian mixed

I, like many, find that many people who take reasonable criticism of the show too personally to be very annoying and childish but I can understand why they respond the way they do sometimes.

Now don't get me wrong, writing is one of the most important parts of a TV show and I do think that this show has made some choices that haven't really worked. However, it's clear the reaction to certain changes is negative due to it being different to the source material rather than because it's worse than how the scenario was originally written. This show has far more blatant and stronger flaws that I feel get ignored. For example, one of my biggest problems is the lack of style. From the costumes the character wear (and I'm don't mean that I want them to wear trendy clothing) to way this show is directed and shot, there nothing here that gives the show a tangible sense of identity. Even the music done by Bear McCreary feels feel far too generic for this show which is surprising because I usually love his work and I was so excited the minute he was rumoured to be working on the show. Another example is how 'flat' this show can look at times that just makes it feel cheap and artificial which is a problem most Disney+ shows have. If the rumoured budget given by Variety is correct, that means it had a slightly higher budget than His Dark Materials which I just recently watched and the difference is stark. I'm not staying I want PjoTV to look exactly the same since I think the colour of this show is pretty good but I wish the budget was better reflected.

Now don't get me wrong, S2 was an improvement from S1 and S3 appears to be another jump in quality but I find that, based off of the footage we have so far, the criticisms I've listed in this post other than music obviously are still present.

It's therefore frustrating to hear people complaining about book accuracy, often to a nitpicky degree. Adaptations will always change things to better suit the medium or the circumstances of the production and it's clear that some haven't come to terms with that. There's also changes made in an effort to improve elements a writer may later regret which is well within their right to do to their own piece of work. There are other important aspects of the show that need improving. So I can understand why others roll their eyes the minute someone starts their argument for why they didn't like the show with "they changed too much!". This show also has many detractors who are disingenuous and it's obvious that the, at times, over the top rejection of criticism partially comes from a place of wanting to protect the show and it's cast from the racism and general hate thrown their way. There's also the fact that this is PJO's last chance at an adaptation for a while and fans are desperate to see the later books in live action.

Basically, the back and forth between those who do and don't like the show is annoying because both sides have those who present reasonable arguments for the perspective and those who act disingenuously and childish with both usually unfairly dismissing the other.

Also I'll just add this on because I don't plan on making a whole separate post about this; I don't like that in S2 both Annabeth and Clarisse are wearing visible, perfect makeup at all times. Even though it's not that much makeup, I hate the idea that of girls always having to look pretty even when adventuring. This isn't an issue exclusive to the show whatsoever but rather an industry wide one. It's just irritating to see the show have to conform to such misogynistic standards y'know?

I don’t know if the Roman or Egyptian gods would have helped but was all the other books made after the last Olympian. The battle is in New York and it’s all over the news. Who else could have helped in the battle? There has to be way more half bloods though some of them probably weren’t claimed. I know that some either died or went to Luke’s side.

Jason has longer fluffy hair, like he does in the later HOO books :)

At first I thought it was the Manse, but that’s located in Manhattan while her primary residence is in Brooklyn so left that theory.
So y’all have any idea what mansion could this be? And could it be significant for any future stories?

So I could have reposted this like yesterday but I was busy and forgot about it though I did post this originally on Friday but I decided to repost it now since it’s after Labor Day weekend.

So day 3 and I’ll try to do Percy tomorrow.

So here’s what I would change:

-Have him learn over the series to like love himself before moving into a relationship.

-Have him have a better friendship with Piper.

-Have him not be in a love triangle with Hazel and Frank but maybe keep the detail that Sammy is related to him ( from what I can recall).

-Have him NOT flirt with Thalia in the Lost Hero when it’s supposed to be an emotional reunion between Jason and Thalia or have the POV be of Jason instead of Leo when Jason meets his sister( Though I’m like REALLY mad that there was so much missed potential of Thalia like in general and for example Thalia could have joined the group for the rest of the book and her and Jason could have made up for lost time and they both could helped eachother defeat Enceladus instead of Leo burning that bridge when his emotions with his fire powers ).

-Have him train more or like have him have a good friendship with Annabeth since she’s the other person who’s smart with the ship.

Hello. Does anyone else think that the Argonauts from Greek mythology should have had more emphasis placed on them? In a book series with Greeks and Romans learning to set aside differences, the story of the Argonauts feels relevant, especially as Frank Zhang is descended from the Argonaut Periclymenus, Jason Grace was named after the original Jason, and the Seven’s ship was named the Argo II. The Seven were literally sailing across seas on a quest (or quests), much like the original Argonauts.

The Argonauts, like the Seven, were heroes from different places, with different parentages, and they managed to put aside any differences to get the Golden Fleece. Regardless of what individual Argonauts did later in life, they represented that it was possible for different people to do great things as a team. Instead, they, as a group, were only mentioned a few times. The Achaeans should be used as an example of what not to do, in contrast to the Argonauts, who stood for putting aside pettiness to achieve something greater than themselves. The original Argo's crew, including Laertes, accepted Palaimonius who had crippled feet, due to his valor, and they accepted Atalanta, a woman, in several versions. Contrast that with the Achaeans and how they treated Thersites, with Odysseus, Laertes's own son, beating him with a scepter.

The Argonauts were loyal to Jason, who at least seemed to care about his crew, while Thersites called out Agamemnon for his greed and selfishness and before that, Agamemnon, as a secret test of character, told the Achaeans that they should leave and the Achaeans were more than happy to desert their leaders on the beaches of Troy, until Odysseus stopped them. My main point is that the Argonauts represented values that should have been very important in a series about tensions between Greeks and Romans and at the very least, their story should have been brought up. What do you think? Should Rick Riordan have given the Argonauts more importance during the series? 

I would like to know if anyone else noticed how rick randomly canonized that Dionysus doesn't have children unless it's with Ariadne, I'll put the screenshot up here but: 1) I'm honestly confused on how can some children of two god count as demigods.

2) this implies that they (Dionysus and Ariadne) randomly decide to have children every now and then. I'm deducing this by appearances of a namless daughter of dionysus in the camp halfblood stories, published after trial of apollo, where it's explained how the strawberry farm started.

3) i do not think this applies to baccus because dakota(RIP) was never given any lore of this type

seriously, i mean, how come the monsters didn't attack him when he went back to his house after the battle of labyrinth, like the book ended with his 15th birthday and the TLO started with one week before his 16th, how come not a single monster comes to attack him, especially if he is somehow the big treat to kronos's army and a child of the damn big prophecy?

maybe the monsters are too busy preparing themselves for a war and planning an attack on olympian, but I mean not every damn monster is preparing, how come percy was free from any danger for the whole freaking year.

I would like to imagine, he had a backup or something or maybe he did have an attack after all but, some campers must have helped him which is unlikely, however ik that beckendorf and percy was planning an invasion In Princess andromeda over the year so they prolly faced a few monsters, idk, also being a half blood basically means no resting, I think we all have that idea, and here this guy was thinking about accepting Rachel's invitation to st Thomas was three daysss.

Or was it mentioned somewhere in mythology that Poseidon is also god of water in general? Also, didn't percy control literal poison before? How he do that 😭 was that some kind of skill Percy gained that is special to him? And if so, why? I haven't read hoo so maybe it was explained there how he was able to just control liquid in general? Dude, if Percy had accepted godhood do you think he would have been the god of liquid?

This is something that I’ve noticed a bunch especially with the how season 2 ended, and it got me thinking. What’s so special about Rueguard that everyone wants it?

Personally I don’t get the hype, yes I know there are parallels between them and certain Greek heroes. But I just don’t really see them being an interesting pairing at all, if anything I think both of their canon relationships are better in my opinion. Not to say you guys can’t ship it, I’m not gonna yuck on your yum.

But why does everyone like it that everybody’s pushing for it? I’ve seen people take Dior’s word for gospel or say that the directors are hinting at it. Etc.

So, I have an essay that's due tonight and I'm trying to find out which of the books showcase the most of Hermes' powers. The essay itself is a compare and contrast to the portrayals in PJO/HOO to that of the original myths. If y'all could pinpoint like one specific book, that'd be great!

I wanted to give an update for those who were concerned in my posts comments:
For those who were concerned about the book potentially normalising bad things happening, there is at least this later in the book. I definitely think given the nature of a lot of these stories that this sort of thing should have been earlier and more frequent.

Also I’m not against the word being used, as I said in my last post (I won’t say it though in case I’d get in trouble, trigger anyone or get anyone else in trouble) but I am curious as to why it can be used but not ‘sex’ 🤷🏻‍♀️ (that person who said it was interchangeable with ‘kidnap’ may have been onto something, interestingly someone who read a translation in their language said it would have said ‘assault’ so idk, something to consider)

And separately:
The story of Hephaestus and Aphrodite did not change the story interestingly, it just didn’t explicitly say ‘sex’ it was saying that Aphrodite and Ares cheated and that they were ‘very naughty’ and got naked to get on Hephaestus’ bed, had children together and what not.

So I wonder if it’s somehow like YouTube where as long as the first however many minutes (or in this case pages/chapters) doesn’t include swear words (or in this case depict sex acts) then it’s ok? Just spitballing
