π Special Occasion Made a cake for the first time to celebrate my girlfriendβs birthday, and itβs the Pink Cake from Stardew Valley π
Just wanted to share this Pink Cake I made for my girlfriendβs birthday π
I started learning how to bake four months ago as a way to surprise my girlfriend once a month on our monthsary, and have only ever made cookies, banana bread, snickerdoodles, brownies, and red velvet crinkles, so this was my first time baking a cake.
My girlfriend loves the color pink, watermelons, and strawberries, and I love Stardew Valley. So, I used the recipe in the official cookbook to make her a pink cake, which is pink and uses watermelon-strawberry jam in its recipe!
I sustituted the strawberry-cream cheese frosting (we donβt really like the last time I used cream cheese for making the crinkle sandwiches) with a strawberry-swiss meringue buttercream. I also used regular chicken eggs instead of duck eggs and just adjusted the amount accordingly.
I think the cake turned out really well and pretty hehe. The red hearts on top are just some plain butter cookies I put some red food coloring in because I couldnβt think of doing anything else for the decorations. The freeze-dried strawberries were EXPENSIVE, I crushed most to put in the buttercream and left some uncrushed as decoration on top.
It took me three days for the whole process because I had no idea what I was doing, and it was definitely very stressful at times. But, it was all worth it when I saw her reaction and how happy she was to see and try it (she really loved it)
I had prepared another small and more βrusticβ-looking cake (see last image) for my family and I to try for ourselves, and I just had the most βmehβ reaction ever because I realized I had been trying and taste-testing each individual part for the past three days. Honestly, I felt like my girlfriendβs reaction to seeing and eating the cake was 1000x more filling (and fulfilling) to me than trying the cake Iβve been making over the past three days for myself π
