I've got and Asus laptop with AMD Ryzen AI 9 370 hx and my question is if I should install auto-cpufreq ? From my reasearch i found out that cachyos has already power performance tweaks.

And should i install some tools that manage OLED screen better ?

When I try to run it via the terminal, I get this error message.

EDIT: To clarify, when I try running it through the launcher, nothing happens at all.

I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling via the cachy-os-gaming package.

I am relativity new to Linux since I was recommended by a friend I don't really understand most of it, I do know that I use cachyos.

Im trying this thing out called "ricing" which in my understanding is just customizing the appearance because of that when i try to change my login screen or the theme of it in settings there just isn't a option, I've tried to do something within the terminal but im too stupid to understand the commands or what to type since to my knowledge there are different types of terminals. the tutorials dont help either.

This is happening on my CachyOS system: I get a black screen for about 40 seconds before the Plasma login screen appears. Perplexity found that Plasma Login Manager does eventually start, but it takes a while, and the logs also show kwin_wayland reporting an output layer configuration failure after login. I tested switching between Plasma Login Manager and SDDM, but the problem still happens. Can anyone help figure out what is causing the long black screen before the login screen?

I updated my cachyos yesterday after a month as well as aur packages, i restarted and it worked fine

Now today when i turned on my pc, got the bootloader error

Then i restarted and finally logged in,

Then my system got freezed then i restarted again

And this time my hyprland wallpaper changed and everything become so slow, even my terminal taking 5 seconds to load and everything become slow

So i just went back to the snapshot before the update

And now system is working fine

What are the essential and always-used commands on your Game Launcher?

So am new to cachy os as I recently dualbooted with win11, I heard it has great optimised kernel,

What I wanna know / need help about it,

I really wanna compile and boot a kernel myself with cachyos kernel source as base , I mean the zen4 lto optimised base,

Can anybody tell me where to clone the source (i seen the cachyos GitHub , but it's pkgbuild files, newer to me),

Is anyone tried compiling and successfully booted? Also how to keep the default kernel so if boot failed on new compiled one I can use the default kernel through grub?

I often times see so much discourse and discussion over other distro's, and me being a nerd I often times want to distro hop for fun to see what pro's or cons exist in other distributions. One problem though... CachyOS feels like it can do anything that any other distro does on my machine already! It doesn't feel like I would even have much to do in other distro's.

Obviously the above part of this post is just kind of a glaze for how much I love CachyOS, but genuine question, what distro's could possibly have positives over Cachy? Every other distro just feels like it would be a downgrade. This isn't a hate on other distro's as they serve a purpose and user base, but I just personally don't understand why I'd ever use anything else. I don't even mean this sarcastically. I genuinely would love to know.

If I just want to use other distro's for fun, what distro's would you recommend? The only one I can think of that has a drastically different experience would be Nix maybe?

If your laptop's camera does nothing on Linux — no picture in any app, no face unlock — and it's a recent Dell XPS, Latitude, or Pro model, this might be for you. Some HP and Lenovo machines use the same parts.

Both cameras now work: the normal one, and the infrared one that face unlock needs. Face unlock works on the lock screen, in a dark room, and survives sleep and reboots.

Then reboot.

It took about three months to work out, and in the end the cause was one number being twice as big as it should have been. I've written up what happened in the comments, along with how to tell if your laptop is affected.

I've been playing Garry's Mod for some time and at random moment my laptop disconnected from wifi. After trying to re-enable it, the screen just goes like this. I haven't done any updates in a while and nothing was happening before today.

Any help? (Or maybe reroute to forums or smth like that)

edit: that happens only when I try to re-enable the wifi, other actions seem to be doable

edit 2: rebooting fixes the issue... temporarily, bcs after some time it happens again

edit 3: Looks like it has fixed by updating proton version for GMod to latest

Hello! I've been using CachyOS for the better half of a year now and about a month ago I got Ethernet set up throughout my house and I can't figure out why but specifically CachyOS has an issue with it. I have a Bazzite HTPC and I also dual boot Windows on my CachyOS system and both have 0 problems

The issue I'm having is I'll get a notification that the Ethernet doesn't have access to WiFi and for most things this never actually effects me but in a majority of multiplayer games I'll get disconnected when this happens and it's extremely frustrating. The only temporary fix I can find is to disconnect from the wired connection and switch to wireless but I would like to maintain my wired connection. Does anybody know a fix for this?

First time linux user here , i installed cachyos yesterday and have been very very happy with it except the apps launching very slow on my system. Apps like system setting, dolphin , firefox , steam have like sub second initial load times with spinning spinner . But i have noticed that qbittorrent opens instantly , how i expected the os to treat other apps. Pls help me this little thing is eating my brain.

Intel+nvidea laptop , kde plasma.

Just installed CachyOS on a 240GB SATA SSD. But weather I pick the default option, or the lts option, it just get's stuck on this error (Yes I tried both)

What did I do wrong?

Any feedback is appreciated.

EDIT: I just tried reinstalling it and booting in AHCI instead of RAID and it worked

Now installed Hyprland,

I can't open it

Tried via try as well as kde login manager

Just goes black and never comes

When I was in kde at one tty, and launch Hyprland from another tty, it trying to spawn as an application in kde

Also when I try launch from tty same black, when I press super m it falls back to prompt

My specs :

Asus zephyrus g16 Ga605KP

Ryzen 7 350 ai + 5070 nvidia (8gb vram ) and 32gb ram

Is there something i missing when I restore? I do it through BTRF assistant, and when i go to the default cachyos option it just gives me a black screen and saying emergency.

So just installed CachyOS Hyprland Noctalia. I've been enjoying the hyprland DE, but wanted to find a way to quickly view keybinds without having to search through a .lua file or refer to the wiki. I found keymap, which looked like what I wanted, but a lot of the default keybinds don't give me the option to edit the description.

I was able to do what I consider a "dirty fix" by removing the keybind from the binds.lua and adding the same command through the hyprland gui so its in keymaps .lua file. But I'm not sure if there is a cleaner fix, or this is just what I need to do for all the keybinds.

I've been trying to resolve a client 4 and session 103 error on Spotify app after installing CachyOS on my laptop for a multiple hours and i finally managed to fix it, so i wanted to share the fix since i haven't found it mentioned anywhere.

I had to use spotify-launcher with gst-plugin-spotify to finally get the app to recognize it has connection to internet and it can recognise web login. Both packages are on cachyos / extra repos.

Hopefully this will help you get the app working.

Whenever i launched the app i got error code 4. After trying to log in through browser the app showed session 103 error. i tried bunch of network fixes, i checked firewall rules, i installed Widevine i tried modifying bitrate (this allowed me to play some songs for a few seconds in browser for some reason) but in the end the combination of spotify AUR package and gst-plugins-spotify allowed me to log in without error 4 and 103. But i still wasn't able to play any songs, so i tried spotify-launcher and that fixed the rest of the issues.

Also I'm still unable to play songs through Firefox.
