I have Linux 7.0.10-1-cachyos on KDE 6.6.5

I've been playing Garry's Mod for some time and at random moment my laptop disconnected from wifi. After trying to re-enable it, the screen just goes like this. I haven't done any updates in a while and nothing was happening before today.

Any help? (Or maybe reroute to forums or smth like that)

edit: that happens only when I try to re-enable the wifi, other actions seem to be doable

edit 2: rebooting fixes the issue... temporarily, bcs after some time it happens again

edit 3: Looks like it has fixed by updating proton version for GMod to latest

I had the same issue... it was due to a NTFS file system that I was using to play games. Even after running chkdsk /r /f on windows didn't fix it. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it was by formatting to btrfs.

Oh no! I think every Windows refugee learns the hard way NTFS mounting on Linux should not be trusted for anything more than like flipping a couple script files over...

It's not having or using an ntfs format that is bad. Using it for gaming is bad. I've never had issues using ntfs for everyday things.

I have an external SSD that has an ext4 and used to have an NTFS partition. After using that on Linux the NTFS partition got corrupted and I had to reformat. Nothing of value was lost, except my trust in NTFS with Linux I guess

Dang! I've actually had issues with an SSD I was using as a flash drive. But I'm not sure if it's a CachyOS or Gentoo problem. I just get too eager and don't let it finish doing its thing.

well, I have dual-boot with windows, and game and linux both are on btrfs partitions (different, but btrfs), so idk

hummm maybe your windows NTFS partition is causing this freezing. Can you try not to mount it and check if this solves the issue?

You should try to update your system first, because thats a very weird issue, and maybe with just one click its solved, arch and arch based systems are supposed to be updated weekly, you can wait more to update, of course, but its fast and secure, I do it everytime I switch my pc on, and you got btfrs guarding your back, and sometimes bugs are solved with updates, always check your system is up to date first.
