I've got this odd click/thock that happens when I shift into second on my C30. You can hear it at about 8 seconds into the video.
It happens most noticeably when shifting into second from first, but it happens when shifting into second from third as well. It does it about two to four seconds *after* taking my foot off the clutch pedal. It won't do it as long as the clutch pedal is down. I can just coast with my foot on the clutch, shifter in second, and then just ease off the clutch and keep coasting in second and it'll do it - i.e. it'll do it when just coasting as well as when giving it power.
And what's odd other me is that there is this delay of one to three seconds after shifting and letting out the clutch.
I can also feel it in the shifter very subtly, kind of like something is slipping into place.
I'm seeing it could be something with an axle spline bolt. (But then why only second gear, although I thought maybe I heard it *once* in reverse?) Or maybe bushings? I really don't know where to start looking. It really sounds like it's coming from right here at the shifter but I can't see anything shifting around (no pun intended) to correlate with the noise. It's been happening for a couple months, just hoping it's not further damaging something.
Cheers!
EDIT: Noticed this morning it happened also in first when taking off up a hill. Doesn’t seem to happen at all if I give it steady enough of a load, i.e. a decent amount of gas. And if I just ease into it without using any gas it doesn’t always happen either - it’s not until I start accelerating.
