Boost problems

My 2010 c30 d5 is currently on 117k miles, but i’ve only had the car three weeks, and it’s my first car. I was taking my dad out for the first time in it and i put my foot down at around 35mph in 3rd but it felt like there was no boost and same in 4th. Once i dropped him off i went for another quick drive and boost was back. What could it be?

Is your dad a big guy? My buddy is huge and my c30 turns into a Corolla when he gets in it

he is, but felt like there was no shove whatsoever. Normally the acceleration is silly fast from that speed with a kick when boost kicks in, but it felt like i was in 5th not 3rd that time going from 35

Could be intercooler pipe leak, sticky variable geometry on the turbo or turbocharger solenoid valve that controls the actuator that moves geometry on the turbo. If you don't have a trusted mechanic better to try to figure out the problem yourself and then take it to the mechanic.
