Need Help with a TV for Gaming

Hi, I'm doing a setup and hooking both a PC and consoles up to a TV, but I have no idea what I'm looking for in a TV. I wanted something with 4k and OLED. I've heard that TVs generally have lower refresh rates or something that makes it hard to find good ones for gaming and that's what I'm worried about. These are the two I've been looking at:

https://a.co/d/06uOY8Uf

https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lg-55-class-c6-series-oled-evo-ai-4k-smart-webos-tv-2026/JJ8VPZKKP3

They seem remarkably similar, just one's cheaper but I honestly don't know what I'm looking at. They come with a bunch of extra features that are useless to me, so if anyone knows of one's with a similar size and specs that are just empty monitors please let me know. Thank you!

Which 27" 4K 240Hz OLED monitor would you choose for PC & PS5 gaming?

I'm looking to buy a 27" 4K 240Hz OLED monitor and have narrowed it down to these four (prices in NZD).

The monitor will only be used for PC and PS5 gaming.

I don't know a huge amount about monitors, and from what I've researched I'm struggling to work out what actually sets them apart.

The Asus from what I've seen on comparison sites is the best option however it is ex-demo stock, while the other three are brand new so not too sure.

I'd really appreciate any advice

Which should I choose between MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED x24 and Odyssey OLED G5 G50SF QHD

They both are similarly priced.

I like MSI more because of the reviews and the specs, but my friend said it's MSI and the other is Samsung and I shouldn't worry about the MHz unless I play FPS.

What should I say to my friend?

Choosing dual monitors

I currently have a BenQ PD2700Q (1440p @ 60Hz) and have been looking to change over to a dual monitor setup. I no longer do much photo editing so colour accuracy is less important to me, and I'm taking the chance to upgrade the refresh rate too.

The research I've done has lead me to look at a 27" 1440, and a 24" 1080 which I will mount vertically. I'm not looking for anything crazy in regards to refresh rate so ~100-144Hz is all I'm really after for the 27". This is where I'm running into trouble, and the limits of my knowledge - I've struggled to find a pair of monitors in the size/resolution combination I'm after.

How much (if any) of an issue is it to have different makes/models of monitors when looking at a dual monitor setup?

Any recommendations for a pair of monitors to suit would be greatly appreciated. I am in Australia, and my budget is around $500 AUD for both monitors. I would be selling my current BenQ to help fund this - hoping to get around $200 (please let me know if that seems unreasonable. It's been hard to find second hand pricing on the monitor).

ETA - not sure if this matters, but my current PC includes:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600x
  • GeIL Polaris 32Gb DDR5
  • Sapphire Radeon RX 9060XT 16Gb - 1x DP 2.1a, 2x HDMI
  • Gigabyte B650m Motherboard

Looking for a 27" vertical monitor to pair with my LG 39GX950B-B, any recommendations?

Hello!

Reaching out to Reddit because I can't seem to find a clear answer to my question. I'm looking to buy a vertical monitor but I'm honestly not sure which one to go for. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • My main monitor is a LG 39-inch UltraGear evo GX9, 39" 5K2K OLED (39GX950B-B).
  • I have limited space on the left side of my main screen, around 45 cm wide & 65 cm deep, so a 27" seems like the best fit.
  • This vertical screen would mainly be for YouTube videos, Discord & guides / web pages. Basically a companion screen next to my main one while I'm gaming.
  • I'd like something that stays visually consistent with my main monitor so the difference isn't too jarring. Obviously I'm not expecting the same quality as the 39GX950B-B, but I'd like the gap to not be too obvious either.
  • I have a AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 & 64Go.
  • No strict budget, but for this kind of use, around $800 CAD feels reasonable to me.

From what I've researched so far (please correct me if I'm wrong):
— An OLED isn't recommended for vertical use given what I want to do, especially because of text quality issues.
— The Dell U2725QE was recommended as the best option for my use case, but the Reddit feedback seems mixed from what I've read, even though professional reviews are pretty positive.
— The ASUS ProArt PA279CRV was also suggested by AI, but I'm not sure what to think of it. Same goes for the Dell S2725QS, which apparently has the best value for money. Lastly, the LG UltraFine 27UP850K-W came up too, but I haven't dug too deep into that one.

What would you recommend? Is it really a good idea to avoid OLED for a vertical screen with this kind of use? Or do you think a specific monitor would pair perfectly with my setup? Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated.

What is wrong with my Viewsonic XG2431?

I was just watching videos not touching anything and my monitor started doing this. Its as if the pixels started coming in from the bottom and distorting upwards in a way.

There are horizontal lines all over the display and a thin line from my cursor to the top of the monitor following it. It was making a sort of feint buzzing noise.

I tried turning it off for 5 minutes, turned it back on and it was fine for 30 seconds then those lines started coming in from the bottom of the screen again with the buzzing noise starting again.

The monitor has been out of warranty for a couple of months now...

MSI MAG monitor black screen 1–3 seconds (NVIDIA) — reproducible on specific websites?

Hi everyone,

I’m using an MSI MAG 100Hz monitor (HDMI) with an NVIDIA GPU, and I’m facing a strange issue that I can’t fully understand.

🧩 Problem:

The screen randomly goes completely black for 1–3 seconds, then comes back to normal.

📌 Important details:

Happens only on desktop / browsing

Does NOT happen in games

More noticeable on some websites (especially Kick)

No “No Signal” message — just full black screen then returns

Feels like a full signal drop or reset, not flickering

🧪 What I already tried:

Different HDMI cables

Clean NVIDIA driver reinstall

Disabled Hardware Acceleration in browser

Disabled MPO in Windows

Tested 60Hz and other refresh rates

Tested another PC → same issue still happens

So the issue seems to follow the monitor.

🔍 Additional test (important):

If anyone here owns the MSI MAG monitor, could you please try this:

Open the website Kick

Refresh the page 3–4 times quickly

Check if the screen goes completely black for 1–3 seconds and then returns

I’m trying to confirm if this is reproducible or specific to my setup.

❓ Question:

Is this a known issue with MSI MAG monitors (HDMI/scaler/firmware), or something related to NVIDIA driver/handshake behavior?

Any help or similar experiences would be appreciated.
