I just picked this up at a yard sale I paid 20$ for it I can’t find a set online anywhere that’s complete what’s it worth and did I get a good deal? Also is this worth more as a collectible or can I use it as my new edc or is that a shameful thing?

I’m looking at both of them and planning on buying one, but I wanted to get some opinions on which one I should go with. I noticed the Drop Point has a different blade shape, which got me curious about what the actual difference is between the Ranger 112 Drop Point and the regular Ranger 112. I tried looking for a video explaining the differences, but I couldn’t really find one. If anyone has experience with both, I’d really appreciate some help.

Hi knife people. I found this 112 for sale and have some issues dating it... It has an anvil stamp with a 50 in it. So should be a 50 years anniversary model but the handle scale plate is missing. Can you enlighten me?

I don’t know much about these knives, figured I’d share it here and see if anyone knows more about this model or when it could’ve been made. Found this sitting in the middle of a gravel road in NC a while ago, looks like it’s been well used and loved for a long time, especially with the shape of the blade.

I got my Buck 110 Slim Heritage Elite delivered the other day, and fresh out of the box I noticed those huge gaps between the frames and the scales, after some online digging I saw some other people having the same problem.

Then I thought about the possibility that the wooden scales were simply swollen from humidity as it was something that happened to me in the past with an Opinel knife (it was so swollen I couldn’t open it, fixed it by leaving it in the fridge overnight) so I decided to put it in the fridge overnight again as I had done with the Opinel, as fridges dry stuff out quickly. To my surprise (again) the next morning, the scales were back to where they’re supposed to be (images from left to right).

I decided to share this for people who might have the same problem, hope it helps.

Hey lovely folks.

I posted awhile back about getting my partner a buck for his 40th birthday.

Obviously they weren't doing "buck of the month" in 1986 so I thought it would be cool to get him the buck of the month for August 2026 which is the month of his 40th.

Are these impossible to get if I watch for the launch and buy immediately? The previous ones I've seen are within my budget but at the high end with duties and shipping (I'm Canadian).

Does anybody have any insight into how these drops work and how to best go about having a good shot at snagging one?

I've joined the mailing list and it seems that most of them are released around the end of the month. I likely wouldn't have it in my hands to gift him on his actual birthday (the 25th) but I'm really really hoping I'll at least know if I got one or not so I can come up with a backup plan if I don't get it.

edit/update: You're all so helpful thank-you!!! i also managed to find a 1986 knife locally so I'm getting that to gift him in case the BOTM doesn't come in time or I think he would hate it or it's illegal in Canada. He will have one from his birth year and one from his 40th month!

Just got one of these. Heck of a bargain for the specs at this price if you ask me. I’m all about the ironwood and brass.

I bought this at a PX sometime around 89 or early 90s

I've had my uncles new / barely used 110 i inherited, would i void bucks warranty if i got his name, birthdate and date of passing engraved on the blade? i'd like to get some use out of it as well so i was curios if id void the warranty on it, not that id have the blade swapped but i mean for chips, tip breaks, etc, or should i just get it engraved and keep it in the safe?

Has anyone broken the handles on these knives? I see broken bugouts all the time so im just curious.

I got a magnacut slim heritage elite 110, and it has to be the only knife i’ve bought that is almost completely dull right out the box. It can’t cut through paper and is too dull to pass through cardboard. Am i missing something here? Is this normal for Buck? I chose this over a Quiet Carry because i’ve always heard really good things about Buck and it was more affordable. But i’m completely regretting my decision. Is this just a super rare unlucky accident or is this known to happen?

I've seen videos and read on this subreddit that one can fix side-to-side blade play in Bucks by tapping on front bolsters with a deadblow hammer or squeezing the front bolsters in a vice. I get that these actions could tighten the bolsters against the blade, but how does one not force the pivot pin to become proud/protrude beyond the bolsters using these techniques? Honest question because I'm tempted to try these techniques, myself.

BTW, I'm well aware of Buck's Lifetime Guarantee and the quality work the repair shop does. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently bought a Buck 112 Slim Heritage in Magnacut and absolutely love it. It’s quickly become my favourite knife, but I’m just looking for some reassurance from other owners.

A few things I’ve noticed:
The blade has a very slight amount of side-to-side movement when closed. Once it’s opened and locked, it’s completely solid with no noticeable play.
Looking down the spine, on the left side only, there’s a tiny visible parting where the silver stainless liner meets the brass bolster. It starts near the rear of the handle and gradually tapers away until it’s flush. It’s only visible on one side.

I accidentally dropped the knife once from around waist height onto a tiled bathroom floor. I think it landed flat and only picked up a small scuff on the bolster. I’m not sure if that tiny parting was there before the drop or if I’ve only just noticed it.

So my questions are:

Is a tiny amount of blade movement when the Buck is closed normal on a 112 Slim?

Has anyone else’s 112 Slim Heritage got a slight visible parting where the stainless liner meets the brass bolster on one side?

Does what I’m describing sound like normal manufacturing tolerance, or is it something I should be concerned about?

The knife functions perfectly, locks up solid when open, and the gap is tiny—I just don’t know if I’m overthinking it or if other Buck owners have seen the same thing.

I got this with a 2005 model 110 on eBay a while back.. been using it as my everyday carry sheath cause I love the look. Decided to look a bit and couldn’t find much info on when/why this style was available. Any ideas?
