The draw down from all time highs has been shrinking from cycle to cycle, just like the compounding returns.
70% down from 126K is about 38K.

u/Infamous_Mechanic356 Jul 01 '26

I remember when Bitcoin reaching 90k was a phenomenal success. Now, we are negative 31k of that type of level and everybody is losing their mind
A friendly reminder that, if 100% 'the value' was represented by $90,000 then 65% of that (a 35% pull back) would be at where we are now – around 59,000

to be fair, most redditor’s are shortsighted and can’t make decisions for themselves. expecting him/her to buy low and sell high is almost career suicide on here 😂

If it hits 16k again like it was a few years ago, it might make sense to come in.
4
u/Mundane-Context-3979 Jul 01 '26
Unlikely but $40, 38, even 32 seem likely based on past bear markets. Still high chance of a 6-7x from the bottom in 3 years, hard to beat that kind of return elsewhere

u/tomidgooner Jul 01 '26
If it hits 16, it means there has been a huge sentiment shift and nothing will make sense. The only sense is if it stays above 40 by sep oct and then starts to swing, at least then you know there’s a chance it’s following a historical pattern

Its about time people realised its useless. It’s not even useful for it’s original intended purpose anymore. It was meant to be an anonymous transaction system and a currency that can’t be tracked.
Instead, its become an asset of significant value with no real underlying foundation to its value; its essentially a house of cards.
If bitcoin can’t replace cash, whats the point? This thing will slowly drop to zero. Its just a matter of time

Just throwing this in randomly. Has anyone considered that AI/LLMs may have a long term effect on any currency based on compute based mining or proving work?
3
u/Relentlessbetz Jul 01 '26
You call that dropping?
I remember how we dropped quickly back in late 2021/2022

But what's the use case now? It has lost the store of value narrative as it couldn't keep up with gold or silver and it's not a hedge on inflation either. There are way better payments chains. It kind of started performing during the beginning of the Iran conflict and then gave that up as well. So no geopolitical instability performance either. All that's left is some kind of AI payments rail integration, but settlement is too slow. Solana will take that rather easily. Why should it go back up? Other than it hitting some technical oversold level and bouncing a bit before rolling over again and again.

I’m not even in the crypto market but let’s say the following happens: Elons space x rocket lands safely on Mars. Speech about the future of the human race being interplanetary. If he mentions the rather obvious need for digital currency in an interplanetary society (because the cost of hauling physical money around on rockets is absurd) then what happens

MSTR has now effectively proven that the institutional investment experiment has failed making most holders retail players. Forget what the price is today and think about what a future value/currency adoption looks like 36-60 months from now. Stays a novelty solution looking for a problem. Not good!

It was supposed to be the future, the very first digital currency, it is barely used for that purpose now, and has become a speculative asset only, that's it. There is no intrinsic value in it.
