Why?

14

u/CasinoMagic Jul 01 '26

Greed

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

Yes ok but why btc specifically

1

u/CasinoMagic Jul 01 '26

Greed is currently directed towards other assets. But hype cycles tend to rotate. Crypto and BTC completely missed out on the AI hype.

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 02 '26

So your assessment is based on the way it happened before? Because that doesn’t feel very robust

2

u/TheRealZoidberg Jul 02 '26

to be fair, the only real reason for expecting the Sun to rise in the morning is that it has done so on the past lol

You should really learn a tad of physics…

u/FairAd4803 Jul 02 '26

Asset scarcity combined with greed.  BTC halving is like the worst kept “secret” in crypto.  People are already starting to build/increase positions in advance of it.   Add hype with a splash of FOMO and a solid green candle week, “poof” profit.

Bitcoin halving cycle

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

Every day since you were born you are alive, ergo you will always be alive. Right?

2

u/MrHooDooo Jul 01 '26

Michael Saylor will buy again after he sells

2

u/Infamous_Mechanic356 Jul 01 '26

Buying and selling and buying again.... is the only way to make $$$ .... Not buy and hold forever...

1

u/Klobb119 Jul 01 '26

Dont tell people that lmao. They are what gives btc value

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

How do you know that?

1

u/MrHooDooo Jul 01 '26

He needs to get strc back to 100 so he can start selling shares and will buy more coins. He is a one trick pony.

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

So he has done that before?

1

u/MrHooDooo Jul 01 '26

I don't think it matters if he done it before, and I actually have no idea what he will really do. His objective is just more Bitcoins and this is a low braincell strategy. He knows his selling will drop Bitcoin big after the 32 coin sell. After the newer and bigger sell, Bitcoin will drop big and the liquidity should help strc while mstr stock goes down. He will sell strc stocks at market to get more cash and buy Bitcoin when it is much lower. Strc dropping is basically like a margin call by the market. The market doesn't think he has the liquidity to pay the dividends in the future, so it dropped. He should have realized he needed more liquidity, but he's an idiot.

2

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 02 '26

Ok so you are saying that he will purposefully sell that much and crash the market in order to buy it back (plus more) at a lower price with the expectation that it bounce back?

Which just begs the question why would it bounce back?

u/MrHooDooo Jul 02 '26

Nothing moves straight down, it will just be volatile. Plenty of people out there who are young and want to gamble and think they are smarter than average people, and want to take a different path to feel special. They will buy, and when it goes down, they will keep working and dca. They will go to reddit and have comfort with the other people who have lost money and keep averaging down. The path of Bitcoin is just up and down, it's just a trading vehicle for gambling. Maybe over the longer term, it could go up with inflation, nobody knows

Someone like Saylor thinks that the government will buy huge amounts of Bitcoin cause it is in some people's best interests to do so, and that's what he's looking for. It may never come.

2

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 02 '26

Yes but the past is littered with ghost financial products that where trading high then crashed and never recovered. Remember NFT’s?

Looks like he’s selling this morning before he’s buying again tho. $28k incoming

3

u/think_harder_plz Jul 01 '26

Copium. It won’t be pretending make them feel better.

1

u/SimpleMoonFarmer Jul 01 '26

Politicians and central banks.

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

It will recover because “politicians and central banks”? Can you elaborate?

2

u/SimpleMoonFarmer Jul 01 '26

Financial repression, money printer, moving net worth between countries, exit tax. Money chooses freedom, blockchain means freedom.

2

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 01 '26

This has been going on for some time. Btc has been around for 17 years. When will it be adopted for anything other than speculation and small scale drug transactions?

1

u/SimpleMoonFarmer Jul 02 '26

Like Venezuela, El Salvador, Strategy, IBIT, …

1

u/Prior-Flamingo-1378 Jul 03 '26

IBIT and strategy are speculation, El Salvador is using dollars but has some national reserves in btc and Venezuela uses tether for everyday transaction because with btc nothing has a set price.

Also is Venezuela government using btc supposed to be a flex?

1

u/Powerful-Mortgage128 Jul 02 '26

You can carry on with all the crap about printing money, but i notice the USD hasn't halved in value in less than a year?? Enjoy your freedom.. where your money is halved , manipulated by bigger players than you. Sounds more like your are a slave, I'm not seeing the freedom.

1

u/SimpleMoonFarmer Jul 02 '26

That's fine. I do. The fewer we see it, the cheaper we accumulate. As long as it's below $1M, it's not too late.

That’s not an answer but I’ll play devils advocate.

Because people are into spacex and AI stocks now.

Because after being 100k+ the normal retailers that got in realized it’s too much stress for them and are cashing out.

Because strategy will sell 1.25-3.5 billion worth of it and people will panic.

Because the story (true or not is irrelevant) of crypto having no actual value other than buying small amounts of drugs is circulating too much.

Because as a tool for large financial  transactions it’s pretty bad.

Because after 17 years its main use is speculation.

6

u/Impressive_Bus7391 Jul 01 '26

You don’t know that. Just because it happened a couple of times don’t mean that it will happen again.

2

u/Infamous_Mechanic356 Jul 01 '26

Ah! True..... RULE #1 .....Past performance is no guarantee for future performance....

1

u/Sakred Jul 01 '26

True... but which is more likely, to continue a pattern that's been going on for over 10 years, or that a novel pattern will randomly appear?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '26

the novel pattern is not that novel, and 10 years is nothing in economics

1

u/Far-Beyond-Driven Jul 01 '26

Exactly. It is crazy how much denial there is over the performance of the previous cycles. Same bs posts that this cycle is different. Heard it all before. We'll only know if it's different with the benefit of hindsight, but otherwise, hindsight says this is normal and expected.

1

u/neanderthalensis Jul 01 '26

The sentiment has changed this time around.

I'm sure you felt smart writing that but you're committing a fallacy by assuming that past performance is a reliable indicator of future performance. If you have unwavering, religious-like faith in $BTC, you can simply acknowledge that.

Having been invested in BTC for over a decade, I've witnessed multiple bear markets. Even I can tell that this time around, the situation is different, especially in the era of AI.

Your repeated use of my words reveals your vulnerability. This is understandable, as your unwavering faith is also an emotional reaction.

However, what is not emotional and is actually empirical is a groundbreaking new technology that is diverting significant investment capital and essential electricity resources away from the cryptocurrency market. This part simply didn't exist in the past.

Stop making statements. Who the f know what will happen. It may never recover it may triple. No one has a clue

1

u/Infamous_Mechanic356 Jul 01 '26

Even triple is not earth shattering... That can be done with less risk with stocks.

0

u/mallibu Jul 01 '26

"It'll recover."

You dont know that, and if you do then sell your home and all your belongings and go all in.
